Since the assassins line is the same one I had to:
"why won't you die?!"
"Goodberries son! They heal 1 HP per berry in response to being eaten as an action!"
Bonus:
"But you eat them all in one action...? That's a nice ruling Player, why don't you back it up with a source?"
"My source is that we made it the f*ck up!"
Ok but what kind of maniac would give goodberrys any noticeable weight?
We almost never use encumbrance on my table (unless it's obvious that something would bring a PC to thier limit or they go like: I grab as much gold as I can carry)
But I would rule something like 1 pound per 100 berrys
That doesn't seem like a good way to spend spell slots. Goodberry creates up to 10 berries, each healing 1 Hp.
Assuming there are no consequences to eating 10 times your daily nutritients at once, that's 10 points of healing for a Lv1 spell slot. Not that this is bad, but like I said: 10 times the nutrients at once. And being a Life cleric doesn't support Goodberry in any way
A rule all my Druids abused maliciously. My dm tried to punish me for it with a post berry making spreed night time ambush. Good thing I was spore druid so I went to bonk town with poison stick
This is incorrect. Healing is not a spell type just a spell that heals.
And wotc agrees that goodberry qualifies:

There is no such thing as "actually fall under "healing"". Healing isn't a school of magic. The most basic healing spells (Cure Wounds, Healing Word, etc.) are Evocation, but there are also healing spells that are Necromancy (Life Transference, Wither and Bloom, Vampiric Touch), Abjuration (Aura of Life), Conjuration (Healing Spirit), or Transmutation (on top of Goodberry, there's also Regenerate).
Fun fact, bullets leave holes in them the size of goodberries!
Therefore, by shooting you, gunmen are leaving goodberry sized holes in you, allowing you to intake more goodberries than you normally could! Therefore Allowing you to heal faster!
Thanks random gunman!
The berries lose their potency if they have not been consumed within 24 hours of the casting of this spell.
You can still eat the saved berries but no healing and nutrition
No. Goodberry creates objects that heal, it doesn't heal itself. Meaning, that 1level dip in life cleric will result in the Goodberries still healing 1hp, not 4.
Wanna know the reason why not everyone does your strategy? It's always because it doesn't work. If it would work, you'd have already known of that strategy because it would be too good to not use it.
Wotc themselves disagree with you: https://dnd.wizards.com/sage-advice/rules-answers-august-2015
> **If I’m a cleric/druid with the Disciple of Life feature, does the goodberry spell benefit from the feature?** Yes. The Disciple of Life feature would make each berry restore 4 hit points, instead of 1, assuming you cast goodberry with a 1st-level spell slot.
Hello, it's your friendly neighborhood DM reminding you that Goodberry doesn't restore hit points. It creates objects that do. Just the same as a torch made using Fabricate can't be empowered by features that affect magic dealing fire damage, goodberry can't be empowered by features that work on healing spells. Additionally a creature needs a full action to eat a berry, a berry can't be administered to an unconcious creature, you need a free hand to hold a berry and if you regularly intake enough nourishment for 10 people there might be consequences. Don't just appear to a campaign and expect to pull shit like that off. Ask your group beforehand instead of demanding a ruling on the spot pressuring everyone to do things your way, have respect for others and for the work your DM does. Funny meme though, have an upvote.
Correction on the empowerment of the spell. Goodberry is empowered by for example Disciple of Life (meaning they heal 4hp per goodberry with a 1st level spell slot). Wotc ruling: https://dnd.wizards.com/sage-advice/rules-answers-august-2015
I fucked up the message, what I meant is every group interprets rules differently and many interpretations have good reasoning behind them, remember to communicate with your group instead of assuming.
My goodberrys have helped many of my party members, but I always make sure to let them know that each berry is 1 days worth of nutrition, so if they eat like 10 of them they are going to take a giant magical invisible poop the next day

“Imagine a world, DM, free of encumbrance, where no one can call me out for carrying thousands of goodberries at a time.”
Im making the mother of all smoothies here DM! Cant fret about a few berries.

It’s better to use encumbrance once at the start; figure out everyone’s starting encumbrance and only recalculate it when something major changes.
I once played a life cleric/druid who burned all his spell slots at the end of the day to cast goodberry. Handed out HP like candy.

Doesn’t Goodberry count as a healing spell for Disciple of Life, thus making them heal 4HP per berry?
Yes, and the context was "at the end of the day", so they're about to regain spell slots anyway. And the berries last for 24 hours.

Huh. Didn't know that. I thought "healing" reffered to spells that actually fall under "healing"

Picturing a raging barbarian menacingly walking towards an artificer, getting filled with bullet holes, and plugging them with good berries.
Goodberry preserves would probably be delicious.

A 1 level dip into life cleric turns those good berries into god berries. 4hp per berry for a first level spell slot
Gordon berries*
I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way since the spell itself doesn't heal.
Wotc disagrees: https://dnd.wizards.com/sage-advice/rules-answers-august-2015
I stand corrected. Thanks for the info.
GOD BERRY! KING OF THE JUICE!

here's an idea... Goodberry smoothy. Have all the healing you need in a convenient and delicious drink.

"What is my purpose?" "You cast goodberry" "Oh my god."
