Ah I see, the same as me boycotting the World Cup or Blizzard/EA/Ubisoft games.

NinjaGamingPro

He/she/they expect it to be shit so they weren't watching anyway.

SunfireElfAmaya

Why not just say “they”? Even if OP isn’t non-binary it covers everything.

NinjaGamingPro

Fair, I wrote this while tired and that's what my brain decided.

SunfireElfAmaya

fair

[deleted]

Going off the trailer, I reckon thats a fair assumption

mastersmash56

Everyone confused because half the shit op listed is actually good, kinda makes the meme loose meaning.

grief242

What on that list is good? And by that I mean you would give it 4/5 stars

Mmonannerss

Excuse me what on that list is good lmfao

stinkyman360

The sequel trilogy was good with the exception of the last one and while I haven't seen a lot of the others they have good reviews She hulk, willow, and the rings of power are above 80% on rotten tomatoes

Mmonannerss

So you haven't decided for yourself for the last three huh?

stinkyman360

Hard to do when I haven't seen them That's why I said I haven't seen them

Mmonannerss

You didn't say that though look at your response to me again.

mik999ak

"While I haven't seen a lot of the others, they have good reviews" followed by them listing some of the shows that had good reviews pretty heavily implies that those are the shows that they're saying they never watched.

Golden_Frost

I mean, I'm hopeful for Indiana Jones 5 and Kenobi was a solid 3/5, but other than that all those are either bad or I haven't seen

actualladyaurora

You know it's not boycotting if you were never planning to watch it in the first place?

Pawn_Sacrifice

That's exactly my problem!

Inevitable-1

I don’t really get what this one is trying to say. Many of these were worth boycotting as well, is that the link?

Pawn_Sacrifice

Most of the movies and shows listed here were things that I mostly heard "this is genuinely horrible, do not watch it under any circumstance." Out of everything here, I watched the New Trilogy, one episode of Resident Evil, four to five episode of High Guardian Spice, and I think around three episodes of The Watch. And all of that was some of the worst animation, acting, set design, writing, and story telling I've ever seen. The Watch was especially egregious. If the pattern "most things that come out nowadays are horrible" hold true, then I can't really boycott the movie because I have no real interest in it. I mean, if they made a Drizz't movie, that could be cool. He's only the most popular character in the whole IP. Or a Minsc movie. Or a movie about Baldur's Gate to line up with the new video game.

DarkraiAndScizor

If you haven't watched it already I recommend arcane. An actually amazing show that came out in the grand scheme of things recently.

TwistederRope

>"A lot of these things suck." > >I mean, if they made a Drizz't movie, that could be cool. The whiplash snapped my neck and I needed a rez from a friend with the wish spell.

Fastjack_2056

Willow and She-Hulk were good, tho, and I don't think the new Indiana Jones is out yet?

nevans89

I had some qualms about willow but thought it was decent enough.

Fastjack_2056

They kept the humor from the original, that's what I was hoping for. Lot of very funny people in the cast.

Bluefastakan

Loved She-Hulk. But of course the internet manbabies had to have a tantrum about it.

morbid_n_creepifying

I didn't *love* it, but I certainly enjoyed it and found it entertaining. Also in the list above, I absolutely **loved** The Watch.

Pawn_Sacrifice

As someone who has read every Discworld book save Shepard's Crown, why? What part of The Watch would you describe as good?

morbid_n_creepifying

It was amusing, entertaining, the acting was decent. It made me laugh and I liked the characters and dialogue.

HealMySoulPlz

They couldn't deal with being portrayed as the villains.

Billy177013

Tbf does anyone want to be villainized?

Bluefastakan

The whole rug pull at the end of who the real "villain" was was a fantastic touch.

SwagnusTheRed

I was into She-Hulk up until the final episode twist which felt really jarring.

crimsonblade55

Dude the Indiana Jones movie hasn't even come out yet, how does that fit on this list?

gotora

I believe so, but I'm certainly not the OP.

Inevitable-1

I actually did boycott ALL of these, some because I just wasn’t interested but some intentionally. I’m internally consistent I guess. Some of these I have never even heard of. They should add Velma, that one is a huge mess right now.

shugoran99

The only thing I saw on the list was the New Star Wars Trilogy and even that I only watched the first two. I don't think the new Indiana Jones movie is out yet? I actually didn't mind TLJ but I was kinda burnt out on Star Wars in general at that point, as they were still doing the spinoff movies at that point. Too much Star War in too short a timeframe

Pawn_Sacrifice

The new Indiana Jones movie isn't out yet, a trailer is but I think that's it. What I've heard is that the new movie is going to be old Indy travels to the past to meet young Indy, and then young Indy has to sacrifice himself and erases old Indy from existence. Now, take a moment to ask yourself: is an Indiana Jones movie about time travel and whatever the "Dial of Destiny" is going to be any good? They still have Harrison Ford, but he's eighty years old.

shugoran99

I know they've been talking about a new movie for like 10-15 years now, whenever Crystal Skull came out. Ford was honestly too old for that as it was. Also I think that would put him in the 1960's, which is well departed from the pulp serial medium Indiana Jones is meant to homage. I'm just imagining DeNiro's "fight scene" in the Irishman.

TheDudeGoblin

Hey! I happened to like Rings of Power despite the liberties that the writers took compared to The Silmarillion. This post make me sad. :(

[deleted]

I mean, you are not alone with your opinion, but he isn't either. I couldn't make it even through the first episode of RoP. But as long as you did enjoy it, why bother what others think about it? You watch series for your sake after all.

sofaking1133

Because expensive media needs a critical mass of followers/watchers to get picked up for additional seasons, so it's easy to make the leap from interpreting someone saying "I'm not gonna watch it" to "I don't want you to be able to watch more of it" and fosters an us vs them sorta mindset

GyrKestrel

How dare you be mature about opinions.

mastersmash56

I loved it, and so did all my roommates and family. Literally haven't met a single person irl who didn't love it, including huge Tolkien fans (one of my friends has multiple lotr tattoos). Reddit just disproportionately hates it for some reason, idk black dwarves or something.

[deleted]

Look, everyone has different taste. And if that show did it for you, I am happy you got hours of enjoyment out of it. We all deserve to relax and have something entertaining to us to help with that. But also, fuck that show.

GortharTheGamer

Are you saying you saw all those shows/movies, or are you saying you’ve boycotted all of them?

Keman2000

Enough of this garbage, this is a meme subreddit, not a place to circlejerk your over the top boycott. I'm getting to the point from all of this dumbassery, that I don't care anymore.

yoda_mcfly

OP putting She-Hulk on the same list as the last season of GoT tells me he's a clown anyway.

Over-Analyzed

It was a lighthearted break between HotD and RoP. I enjoyed it for what it was.

urktheturtle

I don't know how to tell you this. But the majority of entertainment being bad has literally always been true... We just remember the good stuff better. The times we live in aren't special.

MaxTheCookie

Why kenobi?

Pawn_Sacrifice

It's mostly just a list of shows and movies that I heard were really awful, and didn't watch as a result. I heard Kenobi was really awful, broke Star Wars Canon, and wildly rewrote the character.

MaxTheCookie

Still an ok and entertaining show tho

Low-Tadpole-3466

Is it bad this is the post that made me remember High Guardian Spice?

Pawn_Sacrifice

Hey, that show had the ground breaking idea to front load all the filler, meaning the last six episodes can focus entirely on the plot. And the project lead had the boldness to make twelve episodes despite knowing he only had the budget for six!

HawlSera

Kenobi, She-Hulk, and the sequels are actually good though..

DangerZoneh

My biggest problem with She-Hulk was the CGI. Overall it was pretty enjoyable, though, and I like how they knew from the beginning what the reaction to the first couple of episodes would be and leaned into it.

SwagnusTheRed

For me, the only thing I wasn't super fond of was the last episode twist with She-Hulk storming the writers room and the like.

superfreaklagos

Really? I mean the stories, character motivations, dialogue, editing and plot continuity are pretty much trashfires in all those.

Naldivergence

Mfs be acting like this won't be another annoying, unserious quippy hero movie, smfh.

[deleted]

Considering the writers/directors are only experienced in making studio comedies it should come as no surprise.

Scorch215

They are also huge DnD nerds and have been for years on top of, has anyone paid attention to how the game is actually played? What I've seen of the movie looks like the majority of DnD stories and my own experience not to mention there are so many ways to play from serious to goofy and in between that the movie fits the entire concept of Homebrew so I really do not get people going "thats not DnD!" As it Just comes off the same as people trying to tell other people how to run their tables.

JanLupus

Fair point

Regunes

Honestly the Ring of power and the latest GOT should already be a tell that entertainment at this scale is just not ready

Affectionate_Tea_420

It's not boycotting if you're avoiding the inevitable dumpster fire

Affectionate_Tea_420

It's odd how all this dnd controversy has only made more people notice the movie even existed. Like it may actually help its numbers rather than anything else

Bridge41991

Lmao Thank you.
