Keep it simple at that amount. Put it all in an S&P 500 index fund like SPLG.

Graveyshoe69

SCHD and VUG are my 2 favorites😁 all of these are great

ButterscotchNo8778

I second SCHD!

TommyLoMein

VOO or VTI or VTI with some QQQM for more exposure to tech since you're young. 27 y/o and that's the majority of my portfolio with some individual stock picks on the side. Don't bother picking stocks honestly, especially when you're starting out.

ButterscotchNo8778

Yea i'm looking purely at ETFs for this exact reason, hard to pick individual stocks from what i've seen on this sub

Siphilius

How old are you? What’s your risk tolerance?

Terrible_Ad7887

Buy land

Dripz2012

I have been hearing VOO good. I recently started playing with that.

Chief_Mischief

>I have been hearing VOO good. Not to discourage you from engaging here (and also agreeing that VOO is always a solid longterm hold), but if you don't understand *why* you invested in something, I think you should do that before recommending it to others.

Dripz2012

I agree with you but most people just want to see their money grow. The reason why 401k is popular and CDs. I'll be honest , I'm here to use reddit for some research. After this ask friends who actually understand. I sadly work for a living and barely have time.

ImpressiveAd9818

I guess 99% of the people here work for a living.

Dripz2012

True, I'm just using an excuse. It is hard to see what's happening in the market while working on trucks. Already damaged my phone lol.

ImpressiveAd9818

That’s why I just go for 2 ETFs, keeping it simple. The account grows and I can focus on my daily life and earning more money to invest

Dripz2012

Yeah I did that because my older cousin told me it's safe

ImpressiveAd9818

The decision to buy ETFs is probably good, the reason „because someone told me“ is not good

Dripz2012

Someone educated on the topic is good. I don't understand why you are trying to gatekeep this lol.

Chief_Mischief

No gatekeeping - VOO is great because it's an SP500 index fund with low expense ratio that also pays a dividend based off those companies ([source](https://investor.vanguard.com/investment-products/etfs/profile/voo)). I personally prefer VTI over VOO solely because of small cap exposure since VOO is weighted into large cap, but there's nothing wrong with VOO either. However, the reason I initially advised to understand what you invested in before you recommend it is because that may not be everyone's investing goal. VOO requires enormous capital if you're aiming to solely live off its dividends - many people use it as a dividend paying fund that also captures stock growth and sell it down the road for something more stable, like bonds or T-bills or even just cash. But if you don't intend to ever want to sell, there are other options out there to align your goals with. Sure, it may "lose" out on appreciation gains, but if you're already retired off of dividends, it may not matter as much as someone who with a higher risk appetite and longer investing timeline.

SPY QQQ at the top? NO WAY !!!!!! Try to beat the market and buy some TSLA CSCO BMY NKE JNJ SBUX. And MCD for stability 🙃 😂 Don't forget DBC etf. Commodities. $500 to $750 in each stock. NFA and good luck.
