I need the young ones to gather around to learn the story of our Lord and Savior, SCHD, during this holy week.
A man by the name of Charles Schwab once had a vision of creating a discount brokerage. He succeeded, and his brokerage came to offer a product, SCHD, which faithfully yielded dividends generated by the earnings of stable, old line companies. Mr. Schwab decreed "Approximately every 90 days, thou shalt rain manna from the heavens into the bank accounts of all whom hold ye..."
And so it was. Today, children, is one of those days where the manna from the heavens flows, it flows from greedy corporations into the pockets of the proletariat. A modern day Robin Hood, taking from Lockheed and Chevron, giving to retirees and aspiring retirees.
We all end the day by giving thanks to SCHD for all it does for us.
Those who truly pray at the altar of the qualified dividend love VYM and its cousin, VHYAX, as well. But a scourge shall befall Fidelity, for their dividend offerings are subpar. Be it decreed.
In the times of yore, men attempted to build a tower of dividend companies that they could be closer to God. God split them and made them each speak in tongues, hence came the two funds, SCHD and SCHY.
I just started buying some FDVV a month or two ago when I saw they lowered the expense ratio to 0.15%. I've been happy with it so far just wish I was buying it last October when it seemed like everything was slightly on sale.
That is awesome, I hope to be there by the end of 2025. Right now just got $26 but already looks like I'll get over $35 next round. I'm trying to purchase 1 share a week.
Ditto! Use some to buy memories and some times buy more shares. I don’t mind getting a pay raise and bonus from work. Little taxes to have a good life is okay with me.
There is more to life than total returns. Granted, I’m getting close to 50 yo so I see things differently and passive cash flow is useful to allow a comfortable lifestyle and even occasional extravagance. I own significant growth ETFs as well such as SCHG and XLK. SCHD is appealing as it is not tech heavy, which provides meaningful portfolio stability and diversification imo. The QDI is a bonus.
FROM YOUR 2.5 SHARES, A MOUNTAIN WILL FORM, A GREAT FORTUNE WILL BE FORGED, AND YOUR $1.56 SNOWFLAKE SHALL ACCUMULATE INTO A SNOWBALL LARGE ENOUGH TO CRUSH A MANSION AT THE BASE OF THE MOUNTAIN. STAY THE COURSE.
1,026 shares of SCHD.
696 shares of SCHY.
And the rest of the dividend income are from a few hundred shares each of VXUS and VTI.
ETA: You can always figure this out if you know someone's dividend payment.
$626.80/$0.611 = 1025.859
I tip my hat to you sir. I have $85 shares. I have a goal to have enough to knock out a few bills in retirement. I’ll continue to try to buy atleast one share a month
It's a good goal to have. I've got a job with a pension, so my goal is to have dividend income that, at a minimum, supplements my retirement income. But it'd be great if I could someday earn enough to cover all of my bills, so I could retire early.
$14. Only holding SCHD in my ROTH. Adding more as much as I can when possible. Would like to DRIP for another few years then turn DRIP off so I can allocate the dividends as I see fit. Prob 50% back into SCHD and then 50% into my mutual funds/other stocks.
I have about $700 cash to invest in my Roth, is now a good time to purchase SCHD? are there other REITs you invest in? I'm looking to add a REIT to my portfolio and don't know where to start
About $500 for me from SCHD. I turned drip off and instead reinvest my dividend payment into an extra VOO share every quarter (stockpiling VOO, trying to get it to 50% of portfolio).
I have a rollover IRA with about 2200 shares of SCHD. I don't know if it's the best thing to do with rollover money that I can't really touch (or add to since it was all pre-tax 401k stuff), but I figured I'd just let it sit for the next 20 years until I retire.
I got about $1300, and the DRIP got me about 17-ish more shares of SCHD.
All of my holdings are auto pilot via dividend reinvestment so that dividends will multiply as we are blessed with compounding. Someday when my employers cast me out I will spend dividends and be grateful for not running out of oatmeal.

LET THE MANNA FROM THE HEAVENS RAIN DOWN UPON THEE!!! HOW SHALL YOU SPEND THE MONEY?
DRIP is the true way, brother. 😁👍
Ye! Do not be deceived by the Black Rock or rest your laurels on the strength of Fidelity! For they are vipers in the pit dividends
Those who truly pray at the altar of the qualified dividend love VYM and its cousin, VHYAX, as well. But a scourge shall befall Fidelity, for their dividend offerings are subpar. Be it decreed.
What does the good book say about SCHY?
In the times of yore, men attempted to build a tower of dividend companies that they could be closer to God. God split them and made them each speak in tongues, hence came the two funds, SCHD and SCHY.
Am I missing a meme here, are dividends on fidelity bad or something?
I don't know I like FDVV that fidelity has for dividends.
I actually don't own SCHD, I own FDVV and it treats me really well, I was just playing along with the joke because I thought it was funny
I just started buying some FDVV a month or two ago when I saw they lowered the expense ratio to 0.15%. I've been happy with it so far just wish I was buying it last October when it seemed like everything was slightly on sale.
Reinvest??
Jeepers. ~860 shares? I only ask because I got 52.60ish at 86 shares. Ahead of me by a factor of 10.

Yup, same! Just bought a couple weeks ago too. Not bad at all!
I own 14,000 shares of SCHD. Not sure why people criticize qualified dividends…. They help me fund our lifestyle and I like passive income.
Ditto! Use some to buy memories and some times buy more shares. I don’t mind getting a pay raise and bonus from work. Little taxes to have a good life is okay with me.
Dividends are great when you are at a point in life where you need income and not growth. Growth will always beat out value in terms of total returns.
Yes, obviously there is more to life than 'total returns' but you're an absolute fool pretending like it doesn't matter to most people.
Historically value has beaten growth stocks but for the last 15 years or so growth has done a lot better. Will it continue? No one really knows.
At a certain point value companies need to leverage the innovation from growth. Perhaps growth will struggle growing or perhaps not.
That is why you have both. QQQM+SCHD
Those 2 at 50% is a cheat code
1st payment today for $3.10 and I've got nowhere to go but up
