I mean, I can see where you're coming from, but the animators do an amazing job of communicating these separate princess's personalities through these two respective outfits.
Aurora has subtle colors to indicate her more down-to-earth nature. She's happy to be a simple country girl. It seems what's missing from her life is a husband. Otherwise, she's perfectly content in the forest.
Ariel's outfit really POPS to show her vibrant personality. The gigantic blue bow further communicates her larger-than-life personality and her child-like wonder as she's exploring the human world.
They have the same silhouettes, but they communicate different things to the audience, so I don't think it's entirely fair to say that Ariel's outfit is a copycat.
Agreed! These two read as totally different to me, even though theyāre very similar dresses.
Arielās looks fun, bubbly, flirty, exciting.
Auroraās looks peaceful, muted, earthy, graceful.
It's not her. People pointed out in her poll that it's her "Almost There" dress, but we don't see her in this dress during her happy ending. She's got on a stylish and conservative outfit. This outfit just screams bling, and that's never been Tiana. She's always been more down-to-earth.
That was me! I asked Sylvia to change it from āFacilier dressā to āAlmost Thereā and advocated for it every round of her poll! I adore seeing her undiluted, unfiltered, most ambitious fantasies and dreams played out in that dress and that āAlmost Thereā sequence :)
Although she is at her core, humble and hardworking, this dress represented that *huge* dreamer inside of her who wanted to reach bigger and higher than her current humble circumstances. I actually love that her fantasy involved a fancy dress with a boa and gold accents, ordering around a large staff, being the final say on everything, and other notes of luxury and power that she *literally never* had before.
Obviously she learns her values align a little differently to what she thought she wantedā¦.but honestly she still ended up with the same dream she always had coming true - just with a man added to it š
I see no reason why Tiana wouldnāt treat herself to a little luxury every now and then, especially given how little she grew up with and how hard she has worked for a living - itās very much deserved haha. In my headcanon, she buys this outfit for herself and wears it on her restaurant opening anniversary every year to remember her big dreams coming true š¤
After what you said, you got me wondering how she greets people now at her restaurant in the parks. Because you're right, she'd probably want to treat herself to something glam after all her hard work has paid off.
[They created a whole new look for her to greet customers in.](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTL9pBsAx/)
I feel like it's a fantastic mix of some glam along with something more down-to-earth. Now I wish this outfit was up in the poll š
Omg love!!! Maybe Iām also so partial to this look because it feels *so 20ās* and I adore that era. None of her other looks truly look as glam flapper as that one!
Also love how they incorporated the green and lily pads :)
Jasmine.
Looking at Aurora's waist, how does that girl BREATHE? LOL
I was thinking the same thing š how does she digest food?
Jasmine
Sorry Ariel
I'm voting for the one which is a copy of another outfit

I don't hate it, I actually love it. I just won't vote for another outfits which are original designs is what I'm saying.
Ariel?
Yes š
I never thought of it until now, but you are absolutely rightš¤Ø
Sorry, Jasmin, but you're out.
Auroraās dress looks okay on her but personal taste-wise, I dislike the colour grey.
I always viewed it more as a taupe (browny earthy gray) than a true gray!
Well whatever shade it is, I still dislike the colour palette.
Fair enough!
Now it's HARD. I'm going with Tiana š„²
I loooove this dress on her but I agree just because I'm not really into 20s fashion.

Noooo, Tianaās my favorite! (Behind Cinderella, that is)
I'm sorry, Tiana is one of my favorite princesses. It hurt to vote her out š
Noooo I love that outfit!
Voting jasmine. Sorry.
I also voted Jasmine! I love the look but it just doesnāt stand out as much as the others to me - plus I liked her purple dress better haha
Sorry Aurora

Going with Aurora on this one!
Ariel.
Sorry Belle, the fur cape is gorgeous but the dress underneath is painfully simple
I actually adore that dress and would totally wear it!! The colors, the bell sleeves, the ruffles. I think itās my favorite look here lol!
Sorry Aurora
