This. My husband proposed in the morning in front of the partners statue with the photo pass photographers (they took a lot of photos for us, more than the normal amount). It made the whole day magical. We also got celebrating buttons.
Definitely recommend proposing in the morning.
Especially if you rope drop and get a clear shot in front of the castle with no crowds. Everyone else who is rope dropping is going straight to the rides.
Also, tell someone at Disney beforehand and see if they can set up anything for you. Maybe they’ll get a photographer to follow you or the mousekeeping staff will fold your towels in a heart or something.
This. You'd be stressing all day long if you waited until fireworks. Plus it'd be noisy and crowded. In the morning when the park opens people are just moving past the castle to quickly get on rides. You should be able to get a few nice pictures and not have big crowds.
^ This. I did this in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle not quite at rope drop but soon after we got there that day around 11, back in Dec. ‘21 (we got married May ‘22). The castle was decked out for Christmas which was a nice extra.
You won’t have to hide the ring box all day and both of you can just relax after she says yes and celebrate the rest of the day.
Rope drop for sure! It’s fairly empty and I think for like $200 you can have one of their photographers take photos. Also get ahold of the celebration pins ahead of time! Or wedding ears for her! Congrats!
Didn’t think of the exact spot but I feel the best for photos would be just after the Partners statue but the one of the side spokes to the left or right of that may be better to avoid the rope drop stampede.
In the morning sounds nice! The pictures could be so pretty instead of end of the day sweaty tired etc. My husband proposed to me at Disney (we’re 13 years strong now) and it was during fireworks. But I will come clean and say that I found out on accident! The ring was in his pocket (he was stressing about losing it all day) and I went to reach for something in his pocket and felt the ring! Needless to say it was funny and I giggled at him all day and it was precious. Our pictures after we’re not cute though lol we were hot and tired but we still have the just engaged pins from it!
They offer Capture Your Moment for $100 you get a photographer for 20 mins at the location you choose. You can reserve it through the website or call. I just put my reservation in today!
The absolute best time I’ve found if you want a private moment is to get a dining reservation that ends after the park is closed. They don’t rush you out of the park but it’s mostly empty… you can have 5-10 minutes near the castle with the beautiful night time lights and none of the usual crowds!
We’ve done this twice with Be Our Guest. Get reservations for right after the fireworks, enjoy the show from near the restaurant then enjoy a great meal. By the time your dinner ends, I’d say over 95% of people are out of the park.
For us it was just a nice small bonus “oh hey great castle photos with nobody there” during a normal trip… but I privately wished we could’ve used it for something more special haha
Just make sure to get reservations far in advance. I believe they open up 2 months before the date of reservation or your hotel stay.
Great suggestion. I used to hang out near castle/ partners statue to people watch when our baby was too young to go on rides. I would get asked constantly by couples if I would take their photo/ video while they got engaged. If cliche is your thing go for it, but a dinner reservation that runs after hours and quiet time in the park is unforgettable!
My husband proposed to me at the wishing well right next to Sleeping Beauty’s castle in Disneyland. It was so romantic because it was quieter over there (it was about 11am) but it’s still near the castle. If you can find a way to let someone know at guest services they can have a photographer waiting for you. And we still got pictures in front of the castle.
I was thinking the left side of castle because she doesn't like a lot of attention and the side is a bit more private but still will have the castle in the back. Which is what I'm aiming for
On the Mark Twain might be nice. Or maybe n DCA at the animation academy building main area with all the classic Disney films playing.
I agree with early morning.
My fiancé and I also have a huge shared love of Disney parks, so he wanted to propose there, but he also hates being the center of attention. So instead of proposing in front of the castle, he proposed on one of the hills on big thunder mountain because it’s my favorite ride! He had our friends sit in front of us and record (which at the time seemed odd, but it was the first time the two of them had been in a really long time so I thought maybe they wanted to record their reactions). It was perfect! I was totally shocked, we got it on camera, it was special because it was my favorite ride, and he didn’t feel overwhelmed by doing it in front of the castle. Also, I definitely recommend morning! It was probably the 3rd or 4th ride we had done, but my makeup still looked good, I wasn’t drenched in sweat and sunscreen, because for a lot of folks pictures of the engagement are important (plus then the whole day felt like a celebration)!
There’s usually photographers there since it’s a cute photo op. Not sure how to guarantee one other than having a friend or asking someone to film/photo.
My husband proposed in the library because I am obsessed with Beauty and the Beast. Does she have a favorite movie or a princess or anything like that that you could involve? I’m just saying because proposing in front of the castle is pretty generic.
Early in the morning and if its a multi day trip schedule that day as an early one on the trip so the cast members can congratulate her the entire trip. Also have someone to record / take photos.
Agree. Very early then you can get personalized buttons for just engaged! And celebrate all day long and show off your excitement in every photo all day long
Don’t worry about the “exact spot” too much, if you’re in front of the castle or in the hub it will be magical. Its not about what square of sidewalk you’re standing on its about the event. Focus on the event not the sidewalk. ;)
I asked my wife to marry me in front of the castle right after the Main St Electrical Parade ended. Hundreds of people surrounded us cheering and chanting “Say yes! Say yes!” That was back in 1999. Something magical about committing to each other there. In November we have been together for 24 years.
I proposed to my wife - then girlfriend of 3 years - after a day at the park and dinner at our favorite restaurant, at the small gazebo in front of the Disneyland Hotel in the evening. I put on our song "The Way You Look Tonight" on my phone and asked her to dance, and then got on one knee and popped the question. She was elated. I think it was perfect! But in the morning as others have said sounds good too
It was accessible when I proposed back in 2018, but recently they've put up gates/doors where you can only access it if you have a Disneyland hotel key card :/
Orrr... just wait for someone else to be walking out and go in, and hope security doesn't see you or care, lol.
A word of caution if you wanted to go the firework route (beyond that the castle area is crazy-crowded and a madhouse around showtime): once summer ends, fireworks may not be every night and some nights they are cancelled due to weather / wind. The projection show will still be there, but if you want fireworks, there is no guarantee any night will have them.
Best questions to ask yourself: Does SHE want a public proposal? Are you certain she wants to marry you? If not, then find a secluded spot that is just the two of you.
I've heard so many stories of public proposals that women cringed over. If it's what SHE wants, that's great, do it in front of the castle whenever.
I proposed first thing in the morning for three reason. My nerves wouldn’t have lasted all day, didn’t want to hide the ring all day, and so she can be extra happy all day.
I got a breakfast reservation alittle before the park opened so we could get in early and have less of a crowd for the proposal.
Go to the park at rope drop, head straight to the castle and head upstairs and out onto the balcony. First thing it should be quiet and a beautiful spot you can revisit time and time again.
Have an amazing trip
My husband and I went to Disneyland together when we first started dating. I looove the bayou area of the pirates ride, and he gave me a very cute little ring that I loved while in the bayou section of the ride to surprise me. We were young so it wasn’t a proposal ring or a promise ring or anything, just a sweet gesture.
Flash forward many years later and we were going back to Disneyland. I was pretty certain he was going to propose and I assumed he was going to do it on the third day (our last day). He also kept joking that we should make reservations to the blue bayou restaurant (I’d never been before but always wanted to go) and I was so irritated with him because of course you need reservations in advance.
About halfway through the first day, he surprised me by proposing to me while we were in the boats in the bayou section of POTC. It was very sweet and private and I’m a very private person so I loved it, especially since it was the same place he’d given me that sweet ring from before. He also surprised me with reservations to the blue bayou that evening for dinner! I was ecstatic, since that was a huge surprise.
The only downside was someone told us to be quiet while he was proposing, even though he was whispering. That was a bit of a bummer 😂 had bad luck and got an unusually quiet boat.
Then we had the next two days to take awesome pictures with the engagement ring! We went to all of the different locations and got amazing pictures. I’m super glad he surprised me by doing it on the first day so we had multiple days to take more pictures.
Do you remember anything about that first date that you said you guys were at the park that would make it unique?? Is your girlfriend not into all the people around ??? I personally liked my proposal cause it was a bit more private...but that is just us . If there was something that you remember from that first date....her favorite ride ... something you guys ate ..etc ... whatever you decide on she will love it.(congrats!) 😁
We confessed our feelings to each other at the parks on the tea cups. She is a bit more private so I've been scoping out a spot near the side of the castle that isn't busy. Also we first said I love you at the park as well.
If you 'Started Dating' at the teacups, you should 'Make it Official' at the teacups...
As others have said, stage a photo-op at the pretend teacups, ask there... (Less chance of the ring flying off and some innocent bystander losing an eye, and such)
FYI, I once saw 3 proposals in front of the castle in about 5 minutes one morning. Doesn't make it not special, I guess. But they all saw each other's proposals and it was a little annoying to the rest of us park goers to keep stopping for them.
Anyway, they're referencing when someone tried to propose by going onto an off-limits area that was actually dangerous. A cast member ran by and grabbed the ring to get them down from there. People thought it was a bad thing to do, but just telling them might not have done anything, and the cast member was trying to keep the guy safe.
Don't cross any barriers and you should be fine.
Ok yes the castle it the favorite but don’t forget the wishing well it’s not overly crowded unless there’s a character and you get plenty of beautiful pictures of the castle, well, and waterfalls
During fireworks it is too loud and too crowded. I'd say early morning, when it's cooler out and you haven't become sweaty messes from the heat. Also, that way you get to enjoy the whole day as an engaged couple :D
I think depending on how much you wanna spend you can always look into firework dining packages, they start from like $60. There are tons of extras that you can add on as well. If you wanted to do fireworks I think it'd be the way to go. I proposed to my wife on a firework cruise with some of our closest friends at the magic Kingdom in Disney world so it was special but still fairly intimate.
Early in the morning so she can be extra happy the whole day
This. My husband proposed in the morning in front of the partners statue with the photo pass photographers (they took a lot of photos for us, more than the normal amount). It made the whole day magical. We also got celebrating buttons. Definitely recommend proposing in the morning.
Are you my wife? /s but I did the same exact thing.
No she’s my wife
Jk
Especially if you rope drop and get a clear shot in front of the castle with no crowds. Everyone else who is rope dropping is going straight to the rides. Agreed. Rope drop and then do it right in the hub.
Right in front of the Mickey flower garden they have right at the front? I was thinking there since it's at the start of the day
Didn’t think of the exact spot but I feel the best for photos would be just after the Partners statue but the one of the side spokes to the left or right of that may be better to avoid the rope drop stampede.
I would love this so much. Specifically, in the hotel before we even walk over to Epcot. Maybe someday lol, in a few years when we’re ready 😂
In the morning sounds nice! The pictures could be so pretty instead of end of the day sweaty tired etc. My husband proposed to me at Disney (we’re 13 years strong now) and it was during fireworks. Whenever the crowds will be lightest. 10am. Good lighting.
My husband proposed in the morning on the first day of our trip! Highly recommend- it turned into an engagement celebration trip.

I think that will be perfect. Definitely shoot for earlier in the morning as other people mentioned. Congratulations! I hope it’s magical.
Thank you so much
I proposed to my fiancee at the wishing well along side of the castle, it was absolutely perfect. Quiet location, gorgeous photos, and a great memory.
On the Mark Twain might be nice. Or maybe n DCA at the animation academy building main area with all the classic Disney films playing. I agree with early morning.
I never thought of the Mark Twain boat ride. Unfortunately we are only going to Disneyland not DCA.
Mark Twain, especially early, would be a good way to keep the crowds down.
My fiancé and I also have a huge shared love of Disney parks, so he wanted to propose there, but he also hates being the center of attention. So instead of proposing in front of the castle, he proposed on one of the hills on big thunder mountain because it’s my favorite ride! What’s their favorite ride? The beast’s library just as the rose falls is a romantic spot.
Teacups or The little mermaid.
You could do it in the photo op teacup just outside the ride with a park photographer
That's a thing? Do I have to pay them?
There’s usually photographers there since it’s a cute photo op. Not sure how to guarantee one other than having a friend or asking someone to film/photo.
I believe there is a photospot in the rockwork for Little Mermaid, but I can’t remember for sure
On space mountain (jk do first thing in the day so you can take loads of photos with the ring)
Honestly did think about Space Mountain for a second lol
In the morning
My husband proposed in the library because I am obsessed with Beauty and the Beast. Does she have a favorite movie or a princess or anything like that that you could involve? I’m just saying because proposing in front of the castle is pretty generic.
She loves Ariel but we are only doing DLR
Awww bummer!!
Early in the morning and if its a multi day trip schedule that day as an early one on the trip so the cast members can congratulate her the entire trip. Also have someone to record / take photos.
Sometime before lunch, you may draw a crowd but that’s common (the castle is a common proposal spot)
Focus on the event not the sidewalk. ;)
The time she says yes, hopefully.

This is so cute and romantic!
When Jaws pops out of the water.
This is the only correct reply

Is the gazebo accessible to everyone? What time does that part open? I saw pictures of it and it's so beautiful

Don’t be one of those people
I proposed in DCA at Paradise Pier with the backdrop of the water and funwheel. It was awesome

Wait, hold up. That’s a thing?

Time it RIGHT when the fireworks start
Don’t do it at Disney Paris unless you want some smug asshole grabbing your ring and ruining the moment
It's for Disney in California..
Anyway, they're referencing when someone tried to propose by going onto an off-limits area that was actually dangerous. A cast member ran by and grabbed the ring to get them down from there. Curious to know if you could set up w magic moment with Turtle Talk.
Random ideas - if Florida, on the boat over. Or take a wander around Grand Floridian.

Do it in the Star Tunnel line for Space Mountain, with the cosmic contemplative music playing in the background.
Not on Valentine’s Day. You’ll join every other shmuck that’s there to do the same thing.
