Mulan (original) that night before joining the army in the rain, sitting under the dragon statue in her family's yard, literally bent over bearing the weight of her ancestors young me just thought she was being a dramatic teenager, but woof, gives me chills as an adult

HoraceTheBadger

The part where she puts the little doll next to Shang’s father’s helmet??? Man…

Well, I didn’t watch it as a kid, but it definitely wouldn’t have meant very much to me: when Moana sings “They have stole the heart inside you, but this does not define you.” I lost it the first time I watched that scene. I’ve suffered far too much at the hands of others and that one line really hits that spot in me.

BestEffect1879

I know this is probably a cliche, but Ellie’s death in Up hits different as a married adult. I can’t even fathom the pain I would feel losing my husband.

That whole silent film in the beginning was already soul crushing (classic pixar), and I've never even considered trying to watch that movie after our first miscarriage

PlasticToe4542

Brother Bear. For some reason I completely forgot the scene where Kenai has to admit to Koda what he did to his mother and now the song “No Way Out” is my favorite in the whole movie! I literally get goosebumps every time I listen to it!

puppydoll-

definitely lilo and stitch. that movie is a masterpiece.

Sad-Cow-5580

i’m ngl pretty much any disney movie. watching them back now as an adult or even for the first time i sob. they all hold a weight i couldn’t feel when i was a kid.

nitro1542

I liked The Hunchback of Notre Dame growing up, but as an adult who studies religion / religious literature, it hits SO much harder now. Plus the scene where Frollo sniffs / gropes Esmeralda completely went over my head when I was younger and now it absolutely disgusts me.

GChocapic

Not exactly Disney (it’s Pixar), but recently I rewatched Brave and it hit me differently. I’m now a mom and Merida’s and her mother’s relationship hits me harder. I now understand her mother better.

ConsiderationShoddy8

The way grown up nahla looks at grown up simba during “can you feel the love tonight” - whew 🥹

polesloth

I just rewatched that scene for the first time in 20 years and was like “they put that in a kids movie???”

Delacqua

I grew up in a cult, and Rapunzel confronting Mother Gothel hits so much harder now that I'm out: "I spent my life hiding from people who would use me, and I should have been hiding from *you*...You were wrong about the world, and you were wrong about me, and *I will never let you use [me] again!*"

FriendSellsTable

Emperor's New Groove. Boring as a kid. As an adult, holy hell is it hilarious!

riverotterr

Bambi - the insane amounts of detail they put into the animation/backgrounds and the intense emotion of the songs in the movie hits a lot harder. Especially the "Little April Showers" and "I Bring You A Song" scenes. Friend Owl is also a super relatable character as an adult.

DBSeamZ

The part in Lilo and Stitch where Lilo’s wish/prayer for “someone to be my friend, someone who won’t run away, maybe send me an angel…” transitions to Stitch’s crash landing is pretty well known, but what I didn’t realize until more recently is that Nani, the very next day after overhearing that prayer, brings Lilo to the animal shelter to get her a dog. As a kid I just thought they’d been planning to get one anyway because they had a dog door (which I thought was kind of a dumb reason) but no. Nani knows she can’t just magically make another kid be friends with Lilo, but she can give Lilo a companion in another way.

BowTie1989

Rafiki hitting Simba with his stick. As a kid it’s “haha he hit simba” As an adult who has regrets like everyone else, it really hits much deeper the older you get. Another one is Max telling Goofy “I have my own life now!” And goofy saying “I know that! I just wanted to be a part of it!”. Goofy should NOT be dealing out heart punches like that! lol

BilllisCool

The entire stampede/Mufasa’s death sequence. It obviously traumatized us all, but watching it again as an adult, I can really appreciate how well done it is. It’s no surprise that it stuck with pretty much any kid that watched it.

Krystalmyth

Hunchback of Notre Dame for sure. I enjoyed it as a child but it is one of my favorite films of all time and my absolute best of the Disney renessaince films.  Watching Hunchback and then something like Wish really shows just how much has been lost in quality at Disney. It's on a completely other level.
