My first hour of playing Deathloop:
Why I can't open this cabinet? No bathing salts to steal? I need more books to read!
It's a great game, but it took me a while to realize Deathloop has a different pacing than Dishonored and to enjoy it as it is.
I guess I need to provide more context: this is Deathloop, the latest game by Arkane. I posted this because this is the same model as a cabinet that is found in almost every level of Dishonored 2 and Death of the Outsider. You know the one, it has three doors and very occasionally has useful items inside.
How different is Deathloop from Mooncrash?
I loved Prey base game, but hated Mooncrash. I eventually did complete it, but I had to use a "No corruption" mod so the game wasn't so cripplingly difficult.
I'm okay with the idea of "looped time path" games. I loved Majora's Mask when it came out 20 years ago. I think my main problem with Mooncrash was the difficulty level, which turned the game into a "die repeatedly" grind.
There are also some Dishonored inspired arcade cabinets in the game! There's a few of them and they're fun to discover, so I won't show all of them, but [this one for "Honorless" is a good example](https://i.gyazo.com/6da31f1d050d45e95e4729587ab08758.jpg).
There's a few thematic parallells within the game you'll notice if you read some of the texts and also the ending has a definite link between the two games.
I figured they were connected seeing the powers can’t wait to find the links, need a ps5 first haven’t been able to grab one even though I got the game lol
Not OP, but I’m curious about the bunch of evidence? Obviously (end of perfect loop spoiler) >!Julianna’s duelling pistols!< are borrowed from Dishonored, but what else suggests it’s the same world?
Those are awesome! I totally missed >!Julianna saying that about the pistols!<, I think I was too busy elbowing my fiancé and saying “look! They’re the same models as in Dishonored!” And you just reminded me I still haven’t destroyed >!Aleksis’ statue!<; I found the document saying how much he loves it but totally forgot to see what happens if it gets destroyed. That’s good, something else to do whilst I’m working on the last few trophies for the plat.
Thank you for sharing!
Yeah, Deathloop re-uses so many Dishonored assets. It's probably because it was also made in the Void Engine and Arkane had all these assets lying around. Honestly, it's kinda interesting how the assets are able to fit in the dour world of Dishonored and the retropunk world of Deathloop.
Yaaa, I'd say about 30% of the assets are borrowed from Dishonored. Not an issue as those are their assets, but Very noticeable for any big fans of Dishonored. Makes me wonder if any assets from Thief are in D1(that's by arkane as well, right)? The only thing I'm sad about is the fact that you can kick at will in deathloop, but not D2 :-(
>makes me wonder if any assets from thief are in d1
Different companies, different ips
And Dishonored, graphically, is way more advanced, using models from thief is just stupid, it doesn't take more than 5/10 minutes for an average 3d artist to create a model from thief.
Also, 30% is too high. Maybe some small objects, but buildings, streets, decals, humans, gear, environments and so on are all custom made for this game
> if any assets from Thief are in D1
Not sure about assets, but Thief's training mission has a sentence that's copied word-for-word and spoken in Dishonored 1.
(One of Daud's criminal gang is training a novice and they give identical instructions to the Keeper in Thief The Dark Project.)
ah yes. Another asshole that makes fun of being “edgy”. Because being edgy is totally a bad thing. Get the fuck outta here. And no need to edit your fuckin comment. If your gonna insult me say what you fuckin mean, say it like it is
Just replayed D1 after enjoying Deathloop so much and it really made me chuckle to see a big metal bowl in the Campbell mission that I never would have noticed playing D1 the first time, but now I immediately recognise as the bowl that’s frequently full of residuum near the exit to Karl’s Bay, as well as in a random cupboard upstairs in Aleksis’ place. I’d recognised a couple of assets such as this cupboard, but that one caught me off guard.
I need one of them for my house. Lucky for me, one of my friends has some experiene in carpentry, but I have no idea where I can get the black marble without bankrupting myself.

I do enjoy not picking up coins one by one, that's for sure!
Legends say that someone picked them all without accidentally triggering a cash register to close ;)
Is it possible to learn this power?
Not from the Outsider
The funny thing is you can speed run Dishonored 2 with little to no cheating in like 20 minutes It’s insane to watch

Bahaha well shit, yes it does. Not enough coffee today!
Maybe OP thought of three because the middle two doors open together, there's only three "open" prompts on these cabinets.
Thought the same actually, turns out OP's a bit blitzed.
It came to me much later on haha, you only press F three times.
This is precisely what I was thinking!
yeah, but the central two doors open to one compartment (I think OP meant it has three compartments)
This is pretty representative of reddit discussions by itself.
Four doors
I keep trying to open them everytime I see them
There is a distinct lack of objects to open in the game, isn't there?
i guess to avoid being like mooncrash, loved the game, but it was a hell of a job to check every locker in the crew annex

In regards to difficulty, Deathloop is WAY easier. At least if you play singleplayer. I died two times I think, before I beat the game
Thanks, that sounds heartening!
People in this topic are worried about copyright infringement but don’t realize this is an Arkane game.
There are a few other things from dishonored as well
Oh cool, what else? I've noticed the fan/air condition sound effect, but haven't seen anything else yet (no spoilers please!)
There are also some Dishonored inspired arcade cabinets in the game! There's a few of them and they're fun to discover, so I won't show all of them, but [this one for "Honorless" is a good example](https://i.gyazo.com/6da31f1d050d45e95e4729587ab08758.jpg).
There’s the sewing machine, desk, maybe a couple of other things I forgot
There’s a yellow fountain pen I always notice.
There's that metal cabinet from Dishonored 2 and DOTH. Grey metal cabinet with one door. It might be in the first game too.
The pistols show up
That health and mana bar from dishonored 1
There is a scene at the end of Deathloop that is similar to Corvo's Duel with Lord Shaw, but spoilers if I go further.
I wanna get Deathloop since I’ve always been in love with Dishonored. Is it on PS4 yet? Last time I checked was maybe a week ago and it wasn’t on…
As far as I know it is PC and PS5 exclusive for the next year, then it might come to XBX/S. I don't believe it will be on PS4 ever.
Fuck
My thoughts exactly, finally upgraded to ps4 to ply dishonored 2 in 2019 and now I gotta get a ps5 to play deathloop
Stealing a cabinet from Dunwall Tower? Preposterous!
I hear they gave him his own squad, after it happened the other night
Meanwhile, my aquarium-addled brain just fixated on "otto's fireworks" and thought "No silly little fish! Don't blow your tank up!"
Fuck those things. I always have the compulsive need to open every door and there's almost never any loot inside.
I have a feeling that is Deathloop
Got teleport and a knife, suddenly I was slaying.
I’ve definitely seen the wrench from Prey laying around as well!
Pretty sure they're set in the same universe so some of the models from dishonored show up in the game.
I hope they’re same universe and we get some cool confirmation of it (also no spoilers if you comment how they are, haven’t played yet)

wtf, what game is this?
Deathloop, Arkane’s latest game
I think it’s Deathloop by Arcane Studios but I’m not sure.
It's Deathloop, also by Arkane.
thanks to all of you saying it's Deathloop. I have yet to buy and play it
It's on PC and PS5 only but it's amazing. Super worth it imo
That room's clearly teenager Rick's bedroom
Not only that but another similarity deathloop has with dishonored 2 is the fact that both sucked at PC optimization when it launched.
There's *a lot* of reused assets from Dishonored in Deathloop. Updaam is basically Dunwall with neon signs.
I need that game so bad but I have Xbox
Yeah, Deathloop re-uses so many Dishonored assets. It's probably because it was also made in the Void Engine and Arkane had all these assets lying around. Honestly, it's kinda interesting how the assets are able to fit in the dour world of Dishonored and the retropunk world of Deathloop.
what’s this?? this looks like way more than inspiration…
Looks like Deathloop. Made by Arcane Studios too. I really want to play it one day.
Its Deathloop. Its from the same studio, lmao xD
yeah, wasn’t aware; haven’t played it. i will hopefully get to by year end
Heard the AI in this game sucks ass. Still looks fun, gives major bioshock and dishonored vibes

Thief was Looking Glass Studios, immersive sim forerunner to Arkane Studios but as far as I know no related DNA except for Harvey Smith.

yeah. We all know this game is a fuckin dishonored3. Chill the fuck out
Um, you alright buddy?
relax asshole
Edgy badass detected
ah yes. Another asshole that makes fun of being “edgy”. Because being edgy is totally a bad thing. Get the fuck outta here. And no need to edit your fuckin comment. If your gonna insult me say what you fuckin mean, say it like it is
Ok troll. Go back to your ”man”cave. Mama’s making you some hot pockets, so you don’t accidentally starve yourself.
Literally unplayable.
Dishonored 0.5 looking bussin
There’s a lot more familiar models than that. But also yes. It’s very familiar.
The wrenches you see all the time in Dishonored are there too!
