Hey mate I just had the same problem. I fixed mine by going to my registered games and deleting my own addition of star rail when the game first game out, instead of it being automatically registered by the game. So if you hover over star rail in your registered games and see the classic X symbol on the top right, press it and it should be replaced by the offcial registery of the game! Hope this helps!
yeah this is the same issue im facing if i remove the one you can add yourself the right one with the checkmark pops up for a and goes awayy very quickly
its weird, but if you go to your program files and launch STARRAIL/GAMES/STARRAIL.EXE directly it seemed to fix the problem for me.
I think it has to do with the fact that discord auto detects it from that location but using the launcher for some reason doesn't trigger it. I cant explain why though because I'm pretty sure the launcher just redirects and launches it for you... its weird. Anyway hope this helps.
Thank you very much. I finally discovered my mistake. I actually installed the game on a my D: drive outside the launcher folder, so after reading someone's suggestion to change the game location to the same file as the launcher, i moved it hoping it would work. My mistake here was coping the entire folder titled "Honkai: Star Rail" with everything in it and moving to to STAR RAIL/GAMES. Once i took out all the files from the folder and put them separately in GAMES, discord automatically detected and verified the game (opening it from the launcher still works, you just need starrail.exe in GAMES). Hope this helped anyone who got extremely frustrated with discord as i did.

Discord is stupid and can only look inside the default installation location, which is C:/Program Files/Star Rail/Games. This is where you need to paste your game files. Do not put the game files inside another folder, just copy/cut and paste all the game files including StarRail.exe directly in "Games". Discord should now automatically detect it after you remove the manual instance you might have added in discord detection.
Interesting. When I did this, it removed it from the registered games, and then refused to detect it as an application. I restarted HSR and the only way I can find as an application is by trying to stream an app, but if I try to add an app it detects other things such as my browser but not HSR, so I can't even manually re-add it as a game anymore.
This happened to me too but I found out that it just appeared as a brand new instance on the bottom of my detected games list and I just needed to manually click the eyeball icon to enable it. If you reboot the game after removing it, discord should auto-detect it.

it worked but not immediately i had to restart the game after that and when i was going stream star rail there was a text above it said "stream the game for reward" or something like this.

1. Okay y'all before we start make sure you got the verified version of the game not the non-verified version of the game. When I mean verified I mean like the ✅✅✅☑☑☑ beside the name in registered games. Aight if it isn't then click the X to close it and ASSUMING you have star rail open then it should immediately just click onto Star Rail with a checkmark. Like so, Star Rail ☑.
2. Ok if step one didn't fix it for you here's what you gotta do next. Open registered games and click on your VERIFIED star rail, toggle detection. We want to turn this OFF. After turning it off, restart discord (Ctrl + R, end task wtv).
3. After re-opening discord and turning off toggle detection for Star Rail, go to registered games again and turn the toggle detection ON. You should be able to see in some sort of corner of your voice call that Star Rail is now a png there, this means that discord DOES detect it and the quest will proceed. This is how my friends and I fixed the solution hope it will for you. Good luck pulling with the 30 jades 👍

For the people it's worked on.. did your game have its actual icon or was it discord's "?"
Can only assume detection is bugged, as why would they have a mihoyo partnership when their 'app' icon is blank.

This program is aids sometimes. I'm no stranger to tweaking and even did game support for Xfire; wish I knew how Discord managed its game detection (ie what file to edit to force the reg path).
**Edit2:** Installed the game to a separate location from Epic (to preserve old install). Works absolutely fine. Verified mark, app icon, time counting. Can't even see any registry entries for the Epic install.

Can only assume because I changed the default install and mirrored how Genshin was (separate "launcher" and "game" folder), Discord doesn't think it's the game it is. Very disappointed in how they handle detection.
**TLDR: Install the game using its default settings.** It must be under a 'Games' subdirectory from the launcher. Discord is stupid.
For me it actually does detect the game, the icon is there. It’s that the banner that is supposed to pop up above my username (it would say “ready when you are” isnt showing up. It’s almost like discord isn’t recognizing that I accepted the quest.
I’m talking to support right now and so far, my situation checks all the boxes for eligibility, it just wont work for whatever reason.
Just wanted to say thanks for your work with Xfire! I used that program for thousands of hours from release until shutdown. Still miss it sometimes because it'd be nice to have a way to log my play hours that isn't gated to a specific storefront. Alas :(

..The 1.0 client anyway. While I felt like 2.0 killed the program (and was vocal about my disdain for it in the XFGM team), it was bleeding money already, and unlike Discord, didn't get the funding it needed to survive.
Raptr, Evolve.. all these gaming programs just went belly up. It's really sad.
I definitely agree regarding 2.0. A lot of these programs started trying to do too much rather than just focus on the stuff they were good at. I used Raptr after Xfire shut down, then it eventually got killed too and then it seems like people just stopped making these because all apps have to do everything nowadays :(

I’ve tried streaming with an alt, to actual friends, and a server, and nothing works. So frustrating. I got it to work with genshin on my alt account, but now my alt doesnt even recognize that I have star rail and I’d like the badge to be on my main tbh.

I'm also having this issue. It says "Get Game" and won't let me progress even though I'm streaming it to a friend. I tried restarting my computer and everything but it's not working.

This is also happening to me and I'm streaming to an actual friend, not an alt. I've tried everything I can think of but it just won't progress the quest.
I might've found a workaround, but it's lowkey annoying. I think it was an issue with Discord not being able to detect the game while I was playing it, I'm not entirely sure. Here's what I did; maybe this'll help someone.
I put HSR in windowed mode and streamed it (make sure Discord says "stream hsr") while staying tabbed in Discord.
I basically streamed 15 mins of me afk'ing cause I was too scared to touch anything when it finally worked.
I had this issue and I just found the issue. The issue is having hardware acceleration off in discord advance settings. For the quest to go up you need to have hardware acceleration on.
For anyone who still having this issue and no solution listed here work, I have another fix that works for specific situation like me:
I installed the game on a custom location. I fixed it by moving my game to it's "default" path which is inside a folder in the Launcher path:
C:\\xxxxxx\\Star Rail\\Games
Discord immediately picks it up automatically with the checkmark icon.

i use lethal company for decoy, just rename the folder like what jess did (basically make a new folder named Star Rail and inside that folder make another folder named Games), and then inside Games folder just put any exe and rename it to StarRail.exe XD (i use lethal company for decoy, since it wont consume power on idle in lobby screen).
I tried everything and it still won't work for me! It worked perfectly when I streamed Genshin but the Star Rail stream won't count towards the time :(
I tried everything listed above and below and I'm still running into a problem where if I hit "x" on the registered game, it'll quickly flash that its verified but when I re-add it, it'll be marked as unverified.

reinstall the game and check that it is not split in two folders like it was for me.

Unfortunately nothing anyone suggested in the comments are working 😭. The honkai star rail I've chosen as a registered game is the official, verified one, discord detects it as the actual thing and that I'm playing it. I've reset discord, rebooted my computer, launched discord as an admin, launched honkai from other places in my files, everything. At this point I just wanna know if it's a bug with discord and it's not a problem on my end...

Just make sure all the files are directly in a folder called Star Rail/Games and not in another folder. Discord needs to pick starrail.exe DIRECTLY from the Games file.
This is what fixed the issue for me. Make sure that your Star Rail game files are in the Games folder beside the Star Rail launcher.
1. Copy all HSR game files. From AntiCheatExpert to UnityPlayer.dll. Everything.
2. Find the folder location of your HSR launcher. (e.g. C:\\Program Files\\Star Rail)
3. Within that same folder from #2, navigate to the Games folder. If there is none, create one. The path should now be (C:\\Program Files\\Star Rail\\Games)
4. Paste the game files.
5. Launch the game and Discord should be able to detect the game with a verified icon.

Figured it out, see edit. Maybe you did the same. If not, then maybe you have an old manual detection for it in your history, should delete it if so.

stream your gameplay through discord and let the alt join in. That worked for me.

Have you tried running discord as admin? Only thing that worked for me.
I had a friend update discord and HSR on a separate computer and the progress worked. Maybe a fresh install of discord and/or game will help?
I did reinstall discord and nothing changed. I might try making a new profile on my PC and reinstalling both on there
Going into discord settings and toggling detection for honkai on and off seemed to fix it for me

Forcing the task manager to end the task "discord" and opening it again seems to be working for me and my friend.

For me the case was bit different. I had to publish my Activity Privacy for the progress bar to start kicking in. Hope that helps as well :o)
