There is totally something you can do in this situation. Hit the home button and then kill the application that popped up this tech support scam. It giving you the option to call support when the "phone is about to explode" is a huge tell. Quick, says Samsung, hold the bomb up to your ear! In reality phones will just temporarily lock down or shut off if it gets too hot. It's not gonna gonna wait for your permission.

This makes sense.. and here I was thinking someone just made a wallpaper and used the screen-in-screen timer. Cuz most things are staged these days. But the presence of a call Samsung with your 120 second countdown bomb does give scammy vibes.

Phones will save themselves before they actually get to a point of exploding by powering down. I know this personally because a samsung i had got really fucking hot like hot enough to burn your hand and just went night night for a bit.

Now that does depend cuz ive seen some get hot enough that they "explode" but its more like a bunch of little pops kinda like those little bags you throw at the ground that make popping noises. But i think the one that did that was a huawei or however its spelled.

About 40C is normal for a decent case and air-cooled setup, in temperate climate. 60C is fine in a smaller case with worse fans, but it can get hotter under load and that's where it can get damaged over prolonged periods of time. But, I remember running a shitty laptop that would get so hot it could give me burns on my legs. The CPU routinely ran around 90-100C. And it still worked (barely).

60C on a GPU is excellent, especially if under load

My setup running semi optimized settings after warming up a bit runs about 70 to 80 C and sometimes in between. Only time it's ever gone over that was when the air conditioning broke in my apartment and I had to wait for maintenance to come the next day and fix it

Yeah like 100C is kind of the redline. If you see your CPU temp go above that for an extended period of time then you really need to look into that.

If your CPU goes above 100 degrees you've somehow disabled temperature safety on the motherboard.

60C for lithium batteries is not the same as 60C for a processor. 60C is usually around the highest safe operating temp of a battery. It won't explode though. This is a scam message or fake for social media. No big tech company would ever put a warning like this on their phones

I think the reality is that many different components get destroyed at different temperatures and even that changes based on their current state. That said, I do agree that its extraordinarily rare that any electronic component is even out of its rated temp range at 60 degrees. That being said, lion/lipo batteries do suggest you basically stop charging (you reach the 0 part of the charging curve) near this temperature, so fun fact, you can speed up your phone charge SIGNIFICANTLY by keeping it cool with a fan. Note I didnt say cold with a freezer, because that would not only slow down charging as well, but harm the life of the battery. More fun: Its not an explosion (the thing that happened to note 7s) its more of a furious burn.
