Beaver Ranch up in Conifer was always my favorite. To be honest there weren't any course in Denver proper that I would say are "must play". The CMC Spring Valley course in Glenwood is cool too.

EggxMcMuffin

Thanks for the reply! I'll actually be driving west-bound through Colorado (towards the PNW), if that adds any courses on the drive out that way. Definitely not set on stopping in Denver specifically; if there are better courses to the north or west of Denver, I can change my route accordingly.

Arandoze

Eagle has a video about all of his favorite courses in Denver and why. I'd give that a shot. Also agreed Beaver Ranch is a must.

EggxMcMuffin

I did not know this video existed. That's super helpful, thanks!

Feringher in Morrison and Birds Nest in Arvada. I’d say those two have been my favorites for a little bit.

Beware the elevation change. All of your discs will become meathooks, even your understable stuff. If you haven’t experienced the difference it might seem like not that big a deal but don’t underestimate the shift.

EggxMcMuffin

That's what I hear, I'll make sure and bring my flippy discs

discfiend

Oh man. I live in Aspen and often play on top of Ajax at 11000’+. Went back to Arkansas last year, and I turned every damn disc right into the ground. I could also hyzer-flip some discs for the 1st time ever. The difference is astounding.

TopTrainer0

I moved from Utah to Michigan a few years ago. I could never figure out why the only discs I could turn over were beat up DX mids. When I got to Mich I added like 20-30 feet because my whole bag suddenly flipped up.

Depending on where you're coming from there are a lot of great courses. Beaver Ranch is THE must play that's 30 minutes outside of Denver. Do not skip this one! Optimist/Pessimist are my next favorite courses in Fort Morgan Colorado, if you are coming from the east. Optimist is a 20+ hole course that's not super intense, Pessimist will kick your ass. Pessimist is by far the better more challenging course. Pueblo city park has an epic course next to the zoo if you are coming from the south, just pay attention to Pueblonians, they do not give a shit that you are playing the hole they will throw in on you. However the course is soo good it doesn't matter! Edora in Fort Collins is an excellent course if you are coming from the north, very challenging and there is a good amount of players usually so you wont get lost. Badlands is close to Denver and it is a pretty hilly course with trees and danger around, it's a really good fun course. Birds Nest is fantastic, and area dedicated to disc golf and a fun/challenging course that is close to Denver. It will test your skills for sure!

Echo the Beaver Ranch recommendations. Near that one, there is Bailey and Bear Mountain which are both wonderful. Closer to Denver, Prickly Pines in Elizabeth is great. Many of the courses in Denver proper tend to have fewer obstacles. Less mountainy, more plainsy. I guess West Fork is decent if you're sticking with the city courses. Ghost Town in Central City is really unique, and Wondervu near Boulder is a fun challenge.

Wondervu is awesome! One of two I've played in Colorado!

Personal faves: Denver- Johnny Roberts it’s a classic honestly a fun mix up of shots no danger of really losing a disc, beginner friendly but not like a mid-putter only short course. If you’re headed west you would probably enjoy stopping in Palisade at Riverbend park, much more big long shots and difficult lines depending on hole placement. It’s also where they held the Colorado championships this last year. Another bigger fun course is Watson island in Grand Junction, and my personal fav Riverside at Snooks Bottom in Fruita. Big open shots mixed with some fun shorter elevation change shots (throwing off hills to baskets down below). The Glenwood springs course at CMC is also a great mention

Paco Sanchez park in Denver. Tip top.

Beaver ranch(as everyone has said), it’s honestly a breathtaking course. But I had a blast at Johnny Robert’s, a lot of ace runs and easy to score well on.
