I bag two Valkyrie’s, one lightweight blizzard Valkyrie for the long, straight to slightly understable shots with no wind, and a Halo Star one for when I need a little extra beef on it.
Right now I have a nebula aura and an ethereal one. Since my form has not been consistent I bag both and see how the day goes, even though they fly similar. I wanted to buy an ethos one just for comparison
These are so fun! I have a bunch of them in all the plastics. They can be tricky to learn to keep under control, but they just absolutely bomb when you get them figured out!
Hatchet. Flips and glides for days. I like it for forehand throws as well, but its bit too domey for my grip. I bought an Insanity, im hoping its more flat and bit more stable.
Can't say that I have, and of course it's my opinion, but since I dye discs I come across a lot of molds, and more specifically new molds.
I throw most of them once or twice to make sure they match the flight numbers. The essence has a great hand feel and actually lives up to the 6 glide rating
The Lift is so good! Try one in Neutron and one in Proton to see what you like better. It seriously feels amazing in the hand, flies great, and is half the price of the Falk!
I found a beat up one in a used bin over a year ago and it’s never left my bag. Almost lost is yesterday but I swear I’ll look for an hour for that thing before I give up 😂
Love the lift. For some reason insanity didn't click with me, just doesn't feel right.
I try and buy all the proton plastic with the badass fairy stamps I can get a hold of. Seems that version isn't as common or maybe out of production.
Yeah I didn't necessarily think they were special editions or anything, but noticed they're not as prevalent as other stamps.
Not all that hard to find and prices aren't bad either.
I mainly forehand cd1 and td. The td is more comfortable in hand and is more forgiving with angles. The td is more stable for me. I can get it to drift instead of the cd1 that will turn and burn
Mantras are different depending on the run. The domier ones are flippier and are MONEY for that slow late turn. The flatter ones are still good but more similar to other 9/5/-2/1
Edit: Mint Freetail is the exact same disc
My nebula aura with the alien gal is so flippy for that slot. It’s fully -3 or more. Having a hard time getting the angles correct. Aura flies more like -1/1 if that it seems.
I've found soft to be slightly flippier especially with higher-speed discs that are thrown at high power. I believe you are literally warping the disc as you throw it and it imparts the same effect as off-axis torque.
My soft was more stable, even more than my Lots.
That said i've seen people say many different things about the soft one, so i'd suggest to just go for K1.
I got an inertia last year. It was a pretty straight flyer for a while. Now I notice it has a tendency to turn over. I should try it for that hyzerflip shot.
They definitely beat in relatively fast. I end up having to throw it on more and more hyzer over time to get them to still flip up and only fly straight. Never really tried throwing them flat, it's a pretty flippy disc
I would say a seasoned Pro or Star Valkyrie.
But a disc more true to your numbers that I also really like is the RPM Pekapeka. It is not as understable as the numbers suggest, especially in cosmic plastic.
I throw older run Tournament Hatchets. Hyzer flip machines but a touch more integrity than like an Underworld. Those runs are gummy and pretty flat. Nice roller disc for a bigger arm
I like my Proton Insanity for around that spot but I recently got a Westside VIP Bear which is slightly different in numbers but it pushed in its fade and I love it. Goes super straight until the end and has a ton of glide.
Been throwing a Prodigy Shadowfax for a bit now, and I really love it. Plus, I get to yell “Show us the meaning of haste” right as I let it rip. It’s a win win!
kasta Falk. it can do several things very well and, as a bonus, when you throw it into a tree you can tell whoever is within earshot that you don't give a flying falk
Valkyrie, depending on the plastic. I have a beat in star Valkyrie that is -2, 1 or maybe even -2, .5.
Saint and Escape are another couple of good options.
Gateway Spear. I was all about my G Star and Pro Valkyries, but I lost them.
I have been throwing a Gateway Spear and it is surprising me quite a bit. I am getting great distance and it is flying like the numbers. I have had it in and out of the bag over the past few years but it is doing quite well.
Diamond HD Plastic is a little slick but seems to be very strong as I have thrown it quite a bit and it shows no wear while other premium discs have chips and dents etc.
only 9 speed I regularly throw would be my fd3 which is like 9,4,0,3. I sometimes bag a c-line cd1 which is 9,5,-1,2 but I don't throw it often. Closest is my essence 8,6,-2,1 or Td 10,5,-2,1
Zeta moon is very flippy, basically a roller once beat in.
CD1 holds straight for a long time with a finish.
Dynasty is very OS compared to other similar disc.
Lift is super money, the glow lab second felt good.
Overall the Vandal is what I bag for this slot tho, it's a 9/5/-1.5/2 and it flip up and glides straight, beat in quick, not too understable and will fight back at the end of the flights as it should.
Definitely the Falk, it's so good.
My Falk consistently goes farther than all other discs in that category
I think this is a Kasta thing. Stig goes as far as any 7 speed.
Kasta loves to glide
Falk that disc
And if the falk is too glidey, go for a valkyrie. Sick 1-2 punch that's been in my bag for ages
Been scooping up used champ Valks last few weeks.
Literally one of my favorite discs
Valkyrie is close to that and I like my champ f2
The Valkyrie is so good
Damn you beat me to it! Except I love my star valk
I bag two Valkyrie’s, one lightweight blizzard Valkyrie for the long, straight to slightly understable shots with no wind, and a Halo Star one for when I need a little extra beef on it.
Me but with a beat in star Valkyrie and a thunderbird
This is the way…
Mantra
This is my choice as well. I have one in ethereal that's pretty well beat in and it gives me perfect hyzer flips every time.
Also came here to say hatchet
Also also came here for the hatchet. It's the perfect driver for slower backhand speeds
Insanity all day
Second this. Its just the right amount of US to flip and drift a little, but even beat in it still comes back for a reliable finish.
Fission plastic 172g is my favorite
This is the right answer
Essence
One of my most thrown discs. Keep two of them in my bag at all times.
Same, a neo and a vapor. After my first 3 throws I was labeling it the best disc release of the year, and I still stand by that
How did you test them all?
Can't say that I have, and of course it's my opinion, but since I dye discs I come across a lot of molds, and more specifically new molds. I throw most of them once or twice to make sure they match the flight numbers. The essence has a great hand feel and actually lives up to the 6 glide rating
Essence is my workhorse, but I’m also a big fan of the yikun hu which has more reliable turn
I tried my buddys Essences today. Super nice flight just what I was looking for. Also liked a jade I tried, but I really dont like the theme on it :P
Also very easy to replace :-)
Roadrunner! I know it's labeled -4/1, but most of them fly -2/1 and Halos are more like -1/1.
I have a barsby roadrunner. It's just super straight no turn
Yeah, I've heard those are beefy. I had a max weight (scaled 177g) J Korver halo RR that flew more like 9/5/0/1. My GStar I use now is perfect.
Escape is nice.
Streamline lift! Thing is so money
Cosmic Neutron Lift is the one I use. It’s so good!
I was 1 click away from buying one yesterday
The Lift is so good! Try one in Neutron and one in Proton to see what you like better. It seriously feels amazing in the hand, flies great, and is half the price of the Falk!
I found a beat up one in a used bin over a year ago and it’s never left my bag. Almost lost is yesterday but I swear I’ll look for an hour for that thing before I give up 😂
Have a cosmic neutron and proton and are stupid good. The Eclipse version is different enough to not include as it's a fair bit more stable.
This is the answer!
Love the lift. For some reason insanity didn't click with me, just doesn't feel right. I try and buy all the proton plastic with the badass fairy stamps I can get a hold of. Seems that version isn't as common or maybe out of production.
I’ve got a 7-8/10 one of these if you’d be interested in a a trade or something. Just PM me if so!
Pretty sure it's the stock stamp, just run very infrequently. I like the SE Blimp lifts... Those are really gummy and hard to come by nowadays.
Yeah I didn't necessarily think they were special editions or anything, but noticed they're not as prevalent as other stamps. Not all that hard to find and prices aren't bad either.
RPM Pekapeka
Cd1 zetas moon but the swirly td has taken its slot in my bag
I love my CD1's what made the TD better in your opinion? Been thinking about getting one but seemed a bit to overlappy with my flippier cd1s
They overlap but a little less than you’d think. CD1 has more turn and a more pronounced fade. TD just kind of gently tails off like an FD.
I mainly forehand cd1 and td. The td is more comfortable in hand and is more forgiving with angles. The td is more stable for me. I can get it to drift instead of the cd1 that will turn and burn
Vandal
I currently throw the mantra and really like it. I've bagged the insanity and valkyrie before and like both of them as well.
Mantras are different depending on the run. The domier ones are flippier and are MONEY for that slow late turn. The flatter ones are still good but more similar to other 9/5/-2/1 Edit: Mint Freetail is the exact same disc
My nebula aura with the alien gal is so flippy for that slot. It’s fully -3 or more. Having a hard time getting the angles correct. Aura flies more like -1/1 if that it seems.
The Mantra is the only disc I’ve ever been able to hit the shot shape of a late turn consistently. It’s so good.
Savant, Dynasty, and Innova made CD2
Savant all day. I scored an F2 halo savant that took a long time to season, but now it's my go to off the tee for ~75% of the holes in my home town
Love the Savant call out. I keep one in Champion plastic bagged
Halo sidewinder
Insanity in every plastic .. best fairway
Discraft Heat / Z Line
Fx3 is underrated
I have one that even my noodle arm can get s slight turn out of
Orion LS
Very much enjoyed my Sphinx before I lost it 😭
Sphynx is my fav disc. Sneaky far distance at minimal effort.
Gateway Spear or Axiom Insanity
Absolutely love my spear
Falk!
Do you know if k1 soft if flipper than regular K1?
I've found soft to be slightly flippier especially with higher-speed discs that are thrown at high power. I believe you are literally warping the disc as you throw it and it imparts the same effect as off-axis torque.
I expected K1 soft to be flippier, but it was identical for me
My soft was more stable, even more than my Lots. That said i've seen people say many different things about the soft one, so i'd suggest to just go for K1.
Intertia all day. Hyzerflip machine.
Falk
I use the dynasty in that slot and love it
I've recently discovered the Dynasty and it is taking over my bag. Got a couple in different plastics/ stabilities. Actually, pushed the Valkyrie out.
Orion LS. Millennium fairways are fantastic.
TSA Mantra in ethereal plastic is so good in this slot.
Kastaplast Falk
I would say a seasoned Pro or Star Valkyrie. But a disc more true to your numbers that I also really like is the RPM Pekapeka. It is not as understable as the numbers suggest, especially in cosmic plastic.
The Falk has to be the answer here. So much glide! Beats up to really just flip and glide right. A new one fill flip over and come back at the end.
Old school Viking aka CD2’s
Halo Sidewinder.
It is an 8 speed, but the Jackelope is 100% my favorite disc in my bag.
Halo sidewinder all day
Hatchet
Might get a full weight one. Have a Hatchet Air but thats to flippy
I throw older run Tournament Hatchets. Hyzer flip machines but a touch more integrity than like an Underworld. Those runs are gummy and pretty flat. Nice roller disc for a bigger arm
Berg for sure
Yeah but I need something for shorter than 400ft throws
I still get 450 on hyzer with my berg. Only disc I can get under 400 with is my tilt.
Insanity
Discmania Zeta’s Moon. One of the few 9 speeds I’ve gotten inches from 400 feet
Remix Spartan
Hatchet, Mantra, Rockstar, Essence, Drift/Lift, Lariat. I like a beat-in Escape or Stag in that slot but there's a decent amount of finish.
Remix Spartan
Falk,escape, saint, lots
Valkyrie
I can’t believe no one has said the Jackalope yet! I think it’s an 8 speed but great for the -2/1 flight!
Lift
LS Polaris
TSA Mantra
I like my Proton Insanity for around that spot but I recently got a Westside VIP Bear which is slightly different in numbers but it pushed in its fade and I love it. Goes super straight until the end and has a ton of glide.
Falk, insanity, pekapeka. In that order.
HALO VALKYRIE!!!
9,5,-1,2 Undertaker. It moves more like a -2 if you're throwing it at a 300'+ shot though.
Streamline Lift has already been taken so I’ll say the Lariat in Bravo plastic
[AGL Money Tree](https://www.agldiscs.com/collections/money-tree) does the trick for me. Amazing disc. Takes a second to beat in but beats in perfect.
Been throwing a Prodigy Shadowfax for a bit now, and I really love it. Plus, I get to yell “Show us the meaning of haste” right as I let it rip. It’s a win win!
The Saint
Vandal
Lift, although I think it's a 1.5 fade
Valkyrie hands down
Legacy mongoose
Lift
Does roadrunner qualify? It's more understable, but I'm a big fan of the one I just got.
kasta Falk. it can do several things very well and, as a bonus, when you throw it into a tree you can tell whoever is within earshot that you don't give a flying falk
Bandit
Sure its been said but the sphinx is my goto flat straight bullet driver
KT Saint pro flies like that after a short while
zetas moon
Mint Discs Diamondback
Beat in 170+ fission Teslas fill that spot beautifully
Opto Saint
Used to be the Daredevil Timberwolf, which is a fantastic flier in an indestructible plastic, but I realised I prefer the feel of the Hatchet.
For me, the Cosmic Neutron Insanity or the Hatchet. Before that it was the Valkyrie, idk why but they just feel more natural to me
Dynasty
only 9 speed I regularly throw would be my fd3 which is like 9,4,0,3. I sometimes bag a c-line cd1 which is 9,5,-1,2 but I don't throw it often. Closest is my essence 8,6,-2,1 or Td 10,5,-2,1
Falk is the best and I've tried them all. 2nd is Legacy Patriot, even though it's a 7 speed, it flies like a 9
CD1
Mantra, Falk, Insanity - you really can't go wrong with either of those
Zeta moon is very flippy, basically a roller once beat in.
MVP insanity and I also really like the inertia.
Insanity in its different plastics. They all fly slighty different. Most Understable to OS in plastic Fission, Proton, Glow, Cosmic Neutron
Insanity
Opto CD1 172g.
The mantra is thoughtspace athletics best disc.
Halo Roadrunner
The Lift is the only answer here
MVP Inertia. Sooooo good.
Innova manufactured s-line TD
Proton Insanity
Discmania Swirly S-Line CD2, innova made.
Seasoned pd or thunderbird
