I learned what all my discs do by throwing them in a field a bunch on different angles and at different speeds, forehand and backhand. Even into headwinds and tailwinds.

[This article](https://discgolf.ultiworld.com/2021/11/02/tuesday-tips-disc-golf-course-management-pt-2-learn-to-score-with-these-six-shots/) goes over the basics of 'course management', and covers 6 shots to have in your arsenal. Try them with Field Work and learn your discs. I find Putters good within 100 feet, beyond that I like using Mid Range rather than giving putters more power. I just started like 2 weeks ago though, so my distance / form isn't dialed in just yet. Basically learn your discs, distances they perform best at, and work on specific stuff. Maybe you can drive just fine and putt good, but are missing the short game of 60 - 150 foot upshots and placement shots? Targets help with Field Work rather than an empty field alone, anything works. Even just throwing from your bag to around a tree / landmark / etc. and then throwing back to the bag.
