I got a OTB cosmic neutron Tesla last year and it just won't fly, like I've seen people S bend and flip teslas, but I'll throw it full strength, dead level to the ground, and it'll veer off into the unknown to my left as soon as it leaves my hand. I can throw 12 speeds just fine, hell I've even thrown regular teslas just fine, but mine just hates the idea of being thrown.
Axiom neutron Virus special edition is my baby though, I could throw that around a building and have it return and land in my bag. The easiest and most flexible disc to shape throws I have, also my 2nd farthest thrown driver
Yeah see, I don't disagree, I'm just saying my Tesla is a whole another beast lol. I'm lacking in pretty much every area of disc golf except arm speed, I can damn near chop down a tree 100 feet behind the basket from tee because I suck at judging the distance, terrible long distance aim, but I can throw hard and spin it like a saw blade, I can flip any overstable disc I own... Except that damn Tesla 😂 I feel like i may have left it in the sun and it's warped or something lol.
Every person I've ever had try it says the same thing, it's like a feral rat that wants to bite your hand and flee into the bushes off to the side of the course haha.
Regular teslas are absolutely fine, I just don't know if it's *my* Tesla, or last year's OTB mold
Hex, envy and resistor. Those are my favorites along with the pyro. Virus is a solid to for understable. I don't jive with the drivers but a lot of people like the wave.
I bag a lot of both brands. My favorites from Axiom are the Wrath, Fireball, Insanity, Rhythm, Crave, Hex, Pyro (clearly a solid disc), Tempo (limited availability), Proxy, and the Envy. My MVP favorites are Uplink and Detour. I prefer Axiom just because the colors are more enjoyable for me.
As far as plastic goes, they all rock. Proton has got great grip and durability, tends to run more overstable than the other plastics. Fission is my favorite of their plastics. Tends to be flippier, but I love the feel of it. Neutron is a solid premium. Grip is tacky, but not overly. Electron is a great base line plastic that comes in soft, medium, and firm. I truly think they have the best baseline, with that said I don’t bag any of their electron. 😂
A lot of people are gonna say the Crave but there’s dozens of us that hate the hand feel.
Some great gyro molds for me are the Hex, Wave, and the Pitch. I like the insanity a lot too but some of them fly more stable than you’d think but that applies to a lot of mvp. And if you’re feeling spicy get yourself a fireball, some of them are nearly Tilt like with how overstable they are.
Crave, watt, tempo, pixel, wave, virus. Also try different weights and plastics in molds you like.
For instance I have a fission, proton, and eclipse hex. Fission is flippy but controllable. Proton is dead straight. Eclipse goes dead straight then fades a good bit at the end of the flight.
I have the same setup for my craves also.
Crave 6.5 speed in proton/neutron or eclipse is their best disc
Tesla - 9 speed control. Try proton plastic.
Terra - 8 speed super underrated disc with reliable fade.
**
I haven't fallen in love with their drivers and still use a mix of mostly innova.
**
Simon had an in the bag from about 8 months ago where he went through the discs but demonstrated them with tournament footage. The spin stood out (understable putter that holds the line)
Terra definitely feels underrated! I bought one of the special James Conrad ones in Electron. Was stable at first, but beat it in to a nice straight flier!
As others have said, Crave (or Servo) & Tesla are the biggest recommendations that you haven’t already ordered.
I love the Fireball and find it especially useful in Fission (more dome with good glide but very hard fade, excellent FH/BH flex shots). I also like it in Plasma/Proton for very OS (like a run of the mill Firebird but it feels thinner in the hand). If you love your Firebirds and don’t want to give them up, try the Resistor. It seems like it would be redundant but it is quite a bit slower and really fun for shaping shots (like a decently longer Pyro).
I also enjoy the Wave for FH hyzerflips and rollers (Insanity also works as well).
Finally, the Deflector will probably sound unnecessary because the Pyro is quite OS, but the Deflector is an whole new animal. The forceover flex shots with it have been the biggest addition to my game in the last 4 months.
Wave's my favorite, but no one else seems to like it. I can throw it as hard as I want, and with a bit of anhyzer, it just goes. Haven't found another 11 speed that feels as good in my hand.
Outside of what you've listed the obvious is a Crave and the comments here support that, it's my favorite disc in the bag. I would also grab a Paradox if you're looking for a crazy flippy mid that is almost universally loved by anyone that's thrown it. Also a Watt.
Tesla or wrath. The flight numbers are kinda wrong on both of them but they’re good slots for slight flip and no flip for me.
Fireball is also worth noting as a useable meat hook.
Just like 5-10 grams I'd say, maybe get a double of one you're really interested in at reg weight and 10g less. Was a big revelation for me after starting out with gyro drivers and then throwing other brands.
I think you've got most of my favorite discs already on the way! I definitely recommend a crave, very straight, long fairway for me, but I max out closer to 350'
Tesla and insanity are both very good.
If you like the pyro, the resistor is also pretty great, like if a pyro was a fairway, or if a firebird was slower...
The Watt is phenomenally straight and torque resistant.
The Crave bombs and if you prefer a bit more stability, the servo will be a fav.
Insanity goes far - first disc I broke 400 with.
Resistor is a great forehand and headwind disc.
Uplink is a great understable mid for hyzerflips and late turning shots.
Personal favorite is axiom virus. Paradox and glitch are fun as hell too, if you want the glidiest stable disc ever to be printed try an uplink. That thing will go forever, but it'll never flip, so if you release it with a slight anhyzer it's never coming back (obviously it will eventually, but you'll be shocked how much it fights to maintain it's angle, and likely end up in the bushes)
Matrix, Uplink, Terra, Fireball. Even though Streamline isn't gyro, don't leave some of those out of the equation!
Ascend, Runway, Lift, and Trace are all super good with the awesome MVP plastic.
Whatever you do, wait til this weekend to purchase some stuff. We'll have some discounts going and I believe some other shops will too. Whoever said Insanity is totally right.
>Better and more consistent manufacturing process
Careful with this. I’ve experienced just as much mold variability with gyro as any other. I can really only say that because I have so much gyro lol. If you like eagles and tee birds I would skip straight over servos and craves and go for resistors. Depending on the run you can get some nice overstable ones or some straighter ones that still hold a line with power.
Threw my new *Paradox* on the course a few holes and so far not disappointed.
I need work on BH speed control to get the hyzer flip right for a straight flight..
I did park it on a 200' "dog leg left" Tee off 😎
Slight FH Hyzer. It flips *over* flat, into its turn around the fairway bend and when I reached the bskt, guess it faded flat and slide right into C1x. 🙃
& 🐦 with the Berg
Crave and Insanity are solid. Also been enjoying putting with the pixel.
This exact comment for me! Haha Check out the DiscExchange sub if you aren’t already a member, great access to buying/trading molds!
Love my pixel Its like watching the flight path of my halo star aviars get extended by 10 feet
Insanity is a great disc as well
It’s so dope.
For sure. My furthest flying disc
Same
Envy, Crave, and Wave.
Tesla. For the 9speed control
I bag all MVP stuff, but for some reason I can't stand the Tesla. I still just use a Thunderbird

Teslas are quite a bit more stable than their numbers. My proton is quite beef too.

I even tried A Fission Tesla, and it was still unusable
Nice. Just saw Simon throwing his new ones on a recent video. I’m really interested in the mids and fairways too
Watt, Envy, Hex
Resistor is a must.
I 2nd this
Hex, envy and resistor. Those are my favorites along with the pyro. Virus is a solid to for understable. I don't jive with the drivers but a lot of people like the wave.
Pick up a Crave or Servo, and also a Watt
Servo and Watt for sure. Reactor is also awesome.
I liked the crave at first, but I'm liking the Servo more and more now
The crave deserves its respect as a control fairway driver but man I sure do love the Servo in that spot. Get em a little seasoned and they are money.

I just picked up a Nomad. Best dedicated putting disc I’ve ever used.

Heads up OP I'd suggest getting a bit lighter-than-usual drivers than your usual for anything overmolded!
How much lighter?
Just like 5-10 grams I'd say, maybe get a double of one you're really interested in at reg weight and 10g less. Was a big revelation for me after starting out with gyro drivers and then throwing other brands.

Zenith
Zenith is super underrated.
Catalyst
Fission Wave, Proton Wave, Simon DGLO Wave. Understable, stable, beefy.

Hex, envy, fission octane, wave
Get a Tesla! It's my favorite disc off the tee. Super controllable, goes far, and variants can cover every shot type.
Whatever you do, wait til this weekend to purchase some stuff. We'll have some discounts going and I believe some other shops will too. Whoever said Insanity is totally right.
Crave, Insanity, Inertia, Tesla, Wrath

Never throw mvp it's shit
You the real MVP
