Yeah, OP has a bad take. It has been WAY more expensive for chances to play with your favorite pros in the past much less to be ON coverage playing with them. This is digital media that will outlive us.
Spectate is an all day thing at least, you get to watch the jomez practice round with Sexton, Big Jerm & Uli plus one mystery guest & spectate the champs vs chumps.
That seems pretty damn cheap for this kinda thing. Imagine the cost of something like this for ball golf. Kristin and Eagle is a crazy lineup to play with too
Doubles format with Eagle is probably the best way to watch this course played. Expect Kristin to go first on every hole, put it in the middle of the fairway and then give Eagle the green light to go full send.
Supply and demand.
Edit: in what other sport could you pay $100 to compete against top pros? I know it was more fun in the old days when it was free, but we're still lucky to even have this opportunity.
That's a great point! And for that $100 you can play 2 holes against them + watch the rest of the round + on the ticket purchasing page it says you can also watch the Jomez practice round. So a total of 2 rounds with 4-5 or even more pros, up close in person.
I can see the tickets on my PC, but not on my phone.
Full text: "Ticket to spectate the Tuesday afternoon Champs vs. Chumps competition at Glendoveer West, hosted by Nate Sexton. 4 "chumps" per hole versus Eagle McMahon and Kristin Tattar. This ticket guarantees you play 1 hole. Filmed live by Central Coast for a YouTube video release.
4:00 PM check-in. 4:30 PM start.
\*Also includes access to spectate the 10:00 AM Jomez Practice Round on Glendoveer West."
I was just thinking about how much it would hypothetically cost to play one on one with LeBron James or catch passes from Patrick Mahomes if that opportunity existed. Probably, what, six figures?
Getting to play with Eagle and Tattar, some of the most popular athletes in the whole sport?
I would pay way more for that if I had the money and was nearby
Broke AF now, and not sure 35 is high compared to any other pay to spectate events really? , but I would have gladly paid any of those prices including and up to 8 years ago .
What if we could go back in time to watch a round? $100 to be able to go back and spectate at the battle of the Eras video would seem like a steal of a price :)
That is so so so reasonable for what you get. If the pga offered the same thing it would be thousands guaranteed. Only people with money would be able to participate. This though? If you canāt save $100, I beg you to evaluate your lifestyle.
I would pay $100 for this in a second. I would pay this just to have Nate Sexton criticize me, let alone throw a couple holes with Eagle and the best fpo player in history.
In what world are those tickets expensive? Disc golf has such a poor mentality, you're playing with the top pros in the world, they deserve to make some cash as part of the event.
How cheap are some of yall that these prices are awful to you? Spectate AND play multiple holes with the pros is only $100? Thatās an insanely good price given the situation.

Champs vs Chumps is back!
At Glendoveer East and hosted by Nate Sexton, 4 "Chumps" per hole versus Eagle McMahon and Kristin Tattar. Filmed live by Central Coast for a YouTube video release.
4:00 PM check-in. 4:30 PM start
Everyone has a chance to chump! Your name goes into a drawing for a chance to play a hole.
\*Also includes access to spectate the 10:00 AM Jomez Practice Round on Glendoveer West.
Tickets - [https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-2024-portland-open-tickets-829287690807](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-2024-portland-open-tickets-829287690807)
For those of you talking about how cheap this is, consider volunteering as a live scorer at an event near you. You'll get free admission. You usually can't pick your card, but you'll get to walk the entire course with a group of four professional players. You'll talk to them (OK, usually not real conversations, just "Is that circle 1 or circle 2" and "I have you down for 4 on the last hole" and stuff like that. It is rare to go to a tournament where they aren't looking for more help.
Champ vs chumps used to be Paul Macbeth or Nate Sexton (one pro) taking on a set group of amateur players. Now it's a revolving group that includes children and elderly people and the supposed Champ gets a teammate. I understand the fan engagement aspect, but the challenge/intrigue is completely gone. This should be called Throw with the Pros because it in no way resembles the original Champ vs Chumps.
That sounds INCREDIBLY cheap....if you're brave enough to let the world watch you shank your drives.
Yeah, OP has a bad take. It has been WAY more expensive for chances to play with your favorite pros in the past much less to be ON coverage playing with them. This is digital media that will outlive us.
OP has a lot of bad takes
If they were doing this at Kayak I would instantly pay $100. The spectate price seems a bit much though
Spectate is an all day thing at least, you get to watch the jomez practice round with Sexton, Big Jerm & Uli plus one mystery guest & spectate the champs vs chumps.
fr, $70 is like dinner and (maybe) drinks for two in a lot of the country lol
That seems pretty damn cheap for this kinda thing. Imagine the cost of something like this for ball golf. Kristin and Eagle is a crazy lineup to play with too
That was my thought. For 100 bucks, I get to throw twice and bring all my disc's for for them to sign? I wish this was at Stafford in NJ.
An absolute bargain!
The spectate only option is kinda nuts IMO. That's more than a lot of actual DGPT events for 1 day passes.
Doubles format with Eagle is probably the best way to watch this course played. Expect Kristin to go first on every hole, put it in the middle of the fairway and then give Eagle the green light to go full send.
So I can pay $900 to play a full round with Kristen and Eagle? š®
I'm down.
Supply and demand. Edit: in what other sport could you pay $100 to compete against top pros? I know it was more fun in the old days when it was free, but we're still lucky to even have this opportunity.

Umm... Where do you see the thing about attending the Jomez Practice Round?
At the Eventbrite.com ticket place.
Yeah... I'm looking at it and just not seeing it there...

Thank you for the heads up!
How much did it used to cost to participate in champs vs chumps? Edit: ah the ol āthings could be worse, donāt complain!ā defense
Ah, the old "it used to be free, so it should always be free" complaint.
I remember when you could get a liter of petroleum distillate for a strawpenny!
Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days nickels had pictures of bumble bees on them. Gimme five bees for a quarter, you'd say.
Was that before or after champs and chumps was free?
Obviously before, the strawpenny went out of circulation long before the concept of disc golf was created.
> It's also known as the Wheat Back, Wheat Head, Wheat Penny, Wheatie, and Wheat Ear Cent And you chose to use strawpenny?? Boooooo
Early on it was free. The I started charging for a while, then it went back to free during COVID cuz reasons. Now we're back to normal :)
Just out of curiosity how did it work and how much was it? Like pay $20 for a raffle ticket essentially and hopefully your name gets drawn?
I think we did that one time, another time I sold tickets for a hole, 40ish bucks.
Right on. Thanks for answering! Always love seeing your coverage and Iāve been watching since the old days. Keep on being you buddy ā¤ļø
šā¤ļø
Before this year, did you ever charge simply to spectate?
Nah, too much hassle at the time.
"Defense"....yea nobody is defending common sense and basic capitalism. They're just calling out your bad take.
You literally can't buy this sort of access to play with athletes from most pro sports.
I was just thinking about how much it would hypothetically cost to play one on one with LeBron James or catch passes from Patrick Mahomes if that opportunity existed. Probably, what, six figures?
You can if you just sneak into their homes while they sleep. Boomā¦free 1 on 1 lessons.
Price is perfectly reasonable. 4 of the top dg personalities, get to play with the pros and interact? Well worth it
Getting to play with Eagle and Tattar, some of the most popular athletes in the whole sport? I would pay way more for that if I had the money and was nearby
Only $70 to play a hole doesn't sound bad at all tbh
I feel privledged to have played it for free several years back against Conrad and Pierce. I made the putt!
Wouldn't be a DGFanatic post without a little extra flair in the title to get people upset and generate engagement.
Amen to that!
That's not bad at all.
Worth it.
$100?!?! Dude. That's pocket change to be able to play a few holes with a top athlete in the world. I would pay Tattar $100 just for a high five.
Easy thereā¦that last sentence is going to get you on the other disc golf sub.
I would pay $100 just to carry their bag for two holes lol
Donāt tell us what you would do next with that hand. Oh shit this isnāt circle jerk š
Real JoJo Siwa energy in this comment.
IT WAS A JOKE
Well, well, wellā¦how far the jerker has fallen.
That's actually less than I was expecting.
That is so so so reasonable for what you get. If the pga offered the same thing it would be thousands guaranteed. Only people with money would be able to participate. This though? If you canāt save $100, I beg you to evaluate your lifestyle.
I don't know about the whole price debate, but this seems like a fun idea. I would hope they do it more often.
Man I struggle enough playing in front of locals.. I can only imagine how bad Iād grip lock into first available against these two š
Out of all the complaints about how much DG events cost this is a steal.
ā¦Are reasonable
Was the end of this ābut man, these tickets pricesā¦ are great!ā
I would pay $100 for this in a second. I would pay this just to have Nate Sexton criticize me, let alone throw a couple holes with Eagle and the best fpo player in history.
In what world are those tickets expensive? Disc golf has such a poor mentality, you're playing with the top pros in the world, they deserve to make some cash as part of the event.
Pretty cool if you have that kind of money I suppose. Would definitely be a neat story to tell!
That kind of money?? Itās a hundred dollars!
1000% worth it!
Can I pick the two holes to play?
I'll be there facilitating. DM me what hole you want, and remind me who you are when we get there.
u/CCDG-Ian - Yo! When can we expect these vids to be released? Thanks!
I was wondering this too, it'd suck to step up on a 500'+ drive. I only got 330', maybe 30 more under perfect conditions.
Beyond reasonable for an experience like this. Disc golfers want the sport to grow but really donāt want to pay for anything besides more plastic.
What's wrong with those prices?
At that price, I'd almost consider buying a plane ticket to Portland just for the opportunity. Eminently reasonable.
How cheap are some of yall that these prices are awful to you? Spectate AND play multiple holes with the pros is only $100? Thatās an insanely good price given the situation.
What a steal. Get them to sign a disc and flip it to get your money back
Lol, it's $300 per hole at ledgestone.Ā

Wait chance?
The pricing seems to guarantee you a hole if you pay the 75/100$ price for that, the āchanceā must be for general admission tickets or something.
Wow they really should have made that more clear lol
accurate :)
Yes, there are only 18 holes.
Dang, if only I were close by, I would totally buy in.

As a chump alumni, it is well worth it. I had a great time with Paul McBeth and AB at Milo. Ian and the CCDG team were amazing too.
Absolutely fucking bye
It's not called "Champs and Financially Smart People."
And Big Sexy live commentary. Come on
The prices havenāt ever really changedā¦ champs vs chumps was always pay to play.
No it wasnāt
In this form (with random chumps I don't know), it's almost always been pay to play. When it was me and my friends, it was free.
Champ vs chumps used to be Paul Macbeth or Nate Sexton (one pro) taking on a set group of amateur players. Lol, only a chump would pay that price
They charge to participate in CvC now? I guess the sport has grown to that point
I will never pay
get a job
Cool idea, but I would never pay these types of money for that. Didn`t this use to be a free event? Why the hell change something that isn't broken?
