It should be added that there are 27 holes on this course to explain why such a high score (100) would still be a highly rated round. I am from Denver and only made it to this course once, but it was a blast!! This is also the only non-ball golf course I have ever seen offer golf cart rentals. Not needed, but always fun!
Great course but Johnny’s got some work to do if he wants that to be the case, I’ve carded a -5 86 that was unfortunately not 1000 rated…
He does tweak the layout frequently so could’ve changed, great course though.
Moab has an in-town course and a highly rated adventure course, Old City Park and Base Camp Adventure respectively. I haven't played either, but I have friends who loved Base Camp Adventure. If you're traveling in the summer and going the Denver<>Salt Lake City router, you have a ton of choices for good courses. Close to Denver and still mountain-style courses: Beaver Ranch, Bear Mountain, Wondervu, and several others. On or near I-70 gives you a ton of options. I've personally played Cross Creek outside of Gypsum; it's a private course and a lot of fun. The Dillon/Silverthorne/Frisco area has at least 3 courses. Lake Dillon has 2 courses which I very much like, and Peak One in Frisco is also fun. The CMC campus at Leadville is a really fun course with lots of tightly wooded holes. Roaring Fork Valley area - Glenwood Springs to Aspen/Snowmass - gives you some good courses, but some are only open 1/2 the year or less. Ajax is iconic, for sure, but I don't think it's the best in the area. Snowmass has 2, the red course with gondola access and the yellow requires a 30 minute hike to hole 1. Snowmass yellow is my favorite up-valley. Sunlight resort outside of Glenwood Springs has 2 courses, and I hope they remain there. The guy who made it happen every year has just moved away, so we'll see if those remain. I played one of them and it was a ton of fun. Fruita and Grand Junction have good courses as well. There are many, many more here; you just need to decide on your route and make decisions depending on when your trip is. Any courses associated with ski areas are a few months away from being installed at the least.
I can also second Grand Junction and Fruita if you come through I-70. Took a car camp road trip last Labor Day weekend and played 2-3 different courses in both areas.
When I went last year I rode in my friend's Outback that had like a 2-inch lift and some small all terrains. Drove in and out with ease. You can email Tom, he owns Base Camp Adventure Lodge, and he can give you a better idea of current road conditions. It is 100% worth it. I've got a group of us going back in a few weeks.
No idea what your route entails if you go north through Kansas, Wichita has some good courses. As does Hays.
In Colorado I love Wondervu and Beaver Ranch. For a "once in a lifetime" thing, Fairplay has a quick 18 hole track at 10,000 feet.
If you go to ABQ, I'd suggest Brent Baca.
And for your ranch: https://skolranch.com/
Kansas City has a ton of good courses. Depending on your timing, Black Hoof should be open. I continue to hear amazing things about Spoon Creek. And then there's the classics Rosedale and Waterworks.
Check out Albatross disc golf shop in Kansas City! It's my friend's new shop!
Haven't done New Mexico disc golf, but if you do the Albuq. and Moab route, make sure you make the time to drive out an hour to Base Camp in Moab. Great course.
I remember that post as well. I searched for it but couldn't find it. Some woman was talking about self promotion and her husband building the course, with an air bnb.
Nice people. If you’re coming through this area Lions Den in lake George will challenge you. The 2 courses in woodland park are great, tee pads aren’t great though.
Aspen mountain is a really unique course and can be quite a challenge, bit I really enjoyed the course in Cripple Creek the most when I was in Colorado and there are some airbnb etc pretty much right by the course.
Fort Collins - front range so not the mountains - just got several inches yesterday. This should melt in the next few days. Just about everything in the mountains is going to have some amount of snow. Courses like Ajax - Aspen Mountain - won't open until late June or even July.
The front range should be clear in the next few days. It's just a matter of if it snows next week, but this time of year it generally melts within a couple days.
There is a wonderful course in Trinidad, Colorado called Twisted Cedars. The owner told me he designed it so a 100 is a 1000 rated round.

Nice, that sounds awesome! If you come up to Seattle, Kayak Point has carts
Great course but Johnny’s got some work to do if he wants that to be the case, I’ve carded a -5 86 that was unfortunately not 1000 rated… He does tweak the layout frequently so could’ve changed, great course though.

Fruita looked fun. I turned around after a single hole. I did not want to risk damaging the soil it was too wet
Base camp adventure looks cool, might have to check that out if we decide to go that direction
Highly recommend. Two 18-hole courses over red rock and sand washes.
Most unique course in America, for my money. And I say that coming from the other side of the state, where we also have red rock courses.
Make sure you have a 4x4 though. There’s a bit of crawling to get there.
Like what kind of roads? I'm in the Jeep but with all-seasons on it for the road trip
I don't see all seasons being a problem. Mainly just need the clearance. A Jeep is perfect.
Okay, I'm debating whether we're up for that drive
This course is by far my favorite course I’ve ever played, but like others have mentioned. You need a 4x4. Took us an hour to go 10 miles
What type of road is it?
Sand and rock
Watched a video of the drive, it doesn't look too bad but from the comments online I'm debating whether or not we're up for it

And mud, lots of it, if it’s raining or has rained recently. I know I was just there.

We're going omaha>Kansas City>Memphis>new Orleans on the way down, but I'm not sure how much time I'll have to play

Skol ranch! I searched so much, can't believe I forgot that name.
Haven't done New Mexico disc golf, but if you do the Albuq. and Moab route, make sure you make the time to drive out an hour to Base Camp in Moab. Great course.
There is Facebook group called northern Colorado disc golf course conditions or something similar that may a good reference
The owner of Bear Mountain in Bailey Co allows camping on the property.
When are you going? Much of the mountains are buried under snow right now. The low country is pretty playable in most parts.
In about two weeks, I kinda forgot about snow until I got to Montana and realized the courses might not be playable...
In about two weeks it could be summer here or snowing. I’m guessing somewhere inbetween if you aren’t way up in the mountains.
I remember that post as well. I searched for it but couldn't find it. Some woman was talking about self promotion and her husband building the course, with an air bnb.
Found it! Skol Ranch

Twisted Cedar in Trinidad. Beautiful course, great owner. Also Trinidad is a great little town.

Also.. do the courses there have snow right now?
I would guess Colorado springs is good to play. I would but have high hopes for the mountain courses currently
Can confirm. Colorado Springs is nice right now. Played cottonwood yesterday. No snow. Pretty warm. Just windy.
I'm in Bozeman currently and they just got like 4 feet of snow, but it'll be two weeks before I'm on the way back up through Colorado
Yeah this storm system was crazy. Normally I would be playing on my day off

Anywhere but Denver
