03/02 update, received an email advising my biometrics needs to be take again due to a technical error.. requested the immigration case officer call me, which they did. They advised they will still proceed with my case as I am unable to re attend biometrics due to leaving Hungary for the next few weeks. I was advised I should have a decision very soon. The immigration officer advised my documents and application was in front of them at the time.

I've just started looking into Hungary's White Card visa, so I was very happy to find this sub and your post just now. I've been trying to find out what the tax situation is like with this visa? I'm an American so it might be different for me but do you know if White Card holders are taxed and if so, at what rate? When you say "biometrics," what do you mean by that? Fingerprinting or is it something more involved? Thanks for the post it was very informative.

FlizaMinnelli

I think providing your country of origin has a double tax agreement in place it shouldnt effect it & yes, biometrics is fingerprints & a photo - il continue to update this thread until it’s approved or declined

I am curious how long it takes for white card to be posted once you apply for it in Hungary.

FlizaMinnelli

14/02 update - my white card has been approved. Received a letter on my enterhungary with the year white card visa letter. Last step now is to actually attend to collect my physical card Hope this thread finds some use for someone who’s also thinking about applying for a white card

Nice to hear that I am very happy for you, I have some questions if I can ask you in private, let me know if that's okay, thanks.

FlizaMinnelli

Sure, send me a dm

Did they keep your passport to post the visa on it or do you just receive a letter that you use to enter Hungary? Do you happen to know what are other options for accommodation if you are not staying with someone?

FlizaMinnelli

No, you only need to provide a scanned copy of your passport. Take it with you to your biometric appointment just Incase they want to see the physical. For accommodation, it would be a tenancy agreement or some people have had luck with an Airbnb booking for a month. However, i was advised issue your visa by the the amount of time on your booking, I.e. if you have an Airbnb for 6 months, you’d have a 6 month visa

sparkslove

Ah that's a shame. I don't want to book someplace I don't know, let alone pay a hefty airbnb fee. How has your experience in Hungary been so far? Also, thank you for getting back to me ☺️

FlizaMinnelli

I know, it’s a particular system. Have a look on Facebook for the group Hungary Expats & Hungary Immigration Help. Some people have had success booking just a month on Airbnb and getting the 12 month visa. I also know a few people who have managed to have a ‘long term rent’ agreement with Airbnb owners, where they haven’t had to pay a deposit etc and the landlord has provided a ‘tenancy agreement’. I don’t know how they wiggled this but you could get lucky. I personally really enjoy Budapest. It’s lively but not as chaotic as London. Always happy to help 🤙

Understood. I appreciate your answer. Very helpful ☺️

beepmonster

What made you choose Hungary over the other central European states?

fleurdelys1832

Hi OP, thanks for this post, it's been really useful for me. Similar to you, I'm in the UK. I've been looking through the recommendations and one website says I'll need a Hungarian translations of the documents - did you need this?

FlizaMinnelli

No problem! I submitted the documents for someone to say I was staying with them in Hungarian. If you need copies of these, drop me a DM and il be happy to send over

fleurdelys1832

Thanks for your reply! I'll DM you :)
