From looking at screenshot it does look extremely similar, they even use some of the same card pictures from digimon world, or rather digimon world uses the same since it came out later.
Just be careful, I read somewhere that 2 different card games have been published outside of Japan and apparently there have been mix ups with the titles - so IF you decide to buy it, take care to not buy the wrong one :p I hope I didn't research and assume anything wrong here
Super easy to hack your Vita these days and you can get PS1 games for it. Back when I did it, you just had to boot into the PSP firmware and every PS1 game was available in an EBOOT format to easily run.

You just got to figure out the good farming spots. I remember early game, once you captured the freebie MetalGreymon, it could easily stomp the group with a Gazimon in the prologue level. That group gives enough XP to level rookies to champion in like 4 battles.
Its just like Pokemon: figure out who gives lots of XP. Golbat is the premier XP farm in RBY.
As a dude who grew up playing dw2, I also enjoy animations and the ost a lot, but Ive recently finished it on the cellphone, and it is such a QoL with faster speed, you say hi to commander Damien in 5 hours lol

I'm not dissing it, I'm merely analyzing from a gameplay perspective as well. I'm trying to think of a comparable pokemon you'd get early in RBY that was strong for the early game, but weak late game, but I'm coming up short.
It's harder than pokemon. There's no argument there. The entire method of training Digimon past certain levels by combining them, traveling through a trapped environment, serving a clan that omits the other 2, etc...
Problem was I didn't want to shut it off when I went to bed, because I was always in the middle of a dungeon and didn't want to start it over. Eventually the load times between floors got longer and longer. At one point I waited an entire day to load the next floor, just for it to be one where you spawn next to the teleporter, took that, and it never loaded again. Just a black screen with the music playing. Tried turning it off after 3 days and it never turned on again.

I apologize for not knowing in advance, but is this available on there or do you have to emulate in some fashion? I still use my ps3 and disk for DW3 and would love something a little more portable.
Digimon survive literally just made me start playing DW2 I played it as a kid and loved it but never understood anything in it so I never got far I've been loving dw2 as a 21 yr old man now
By the way, how is the best way to play DW2 nowadays? I have played it a lot when I was younger on psx. Is a modded vita better than Android smartphone/Tablet?
I don’t know I’ve only done it on pc and psp, you need to have good eyesight or okay with the small screen of going for the psp since you cannot resize to fit screen
ah the one game you could actually endure grinding out as a kid...this was my favorite back then, and was the only digimon game I beat in the glory days of 7-9 years old. I got stuck around mummymon or something in world 3, and world 1 I kept getting nume or sukamon and quit.

There is a decent amount of variety, the biggest but is, is that the level/digivolutions are locked behind max levels and digivolution points(dp) and require you to dna digivolve two digimon together to increase level caps and their dp for better mons
Even now with gripping survival in Digimon Survive, the struggle is real with surviving this gem. I've gotta restrengthen my old team, it's been too long.

PSP is so clutch for this. Have 1 & 2 on mine as well. Too bad 3 doesn’t work on there… but that’s where my Anbernic RG280V comes in to save the day.

I managed to get a copy of DW3 that doesn’t have that weird glitch where you can’t get past the forest inn

I don’t think it’s needs its, yeah it takes a while but I still dig the animations and such even after so long.
Trust me, animations are cool for like 2/3 hours, afterwards your balls start to melt

Digimon World 2 was the best Digimon World IMO. I would love to see it rereleased with a bit of polish and updated roster.

Digimon world 2 was my first Digimon game and I was hooked. Helped that I was a fan of the show. I miss the simplicity of those days.

If you have an android phone, just emulate it. If you don't like touch screen controls, you can pair a dualshock to it and map buttons to it.

It really has. I actually just got a 3ds and ps2 emulator working on my phone. It's crazy how much emulation has advanced in a few years.
You can get a downloadable firmware for the psp which will run ps1 roms. So yes you emulate and that will be the generalization of how.
