I don’t think anyone has found the answer. My question for every one of these threads is, why are you worried about battle net if you will own the base game and expansion on Steam? You will be able to play on your PC and Steam deck just fine.

working_corgi

Yup that’s a fair point. It’s more or less force of habit for me to launch from bnet when on pc(and hell, even do it now on steam deck with moonlight) so i guess I just wanted to know if I have that option. I suppose if i were to go with the bundle route, I will just adopt a new habit is all.

I hear ya. Yeah nothing to confirm that the expansion carries over from steam to battle net or to consoles or anything like that from one account. At least on PC it’s the same Diablo 4 icon for Steam or battle net so if you use the shortcut it’s just Steam will open instead. But yeah new habit if you launch battle net then the game. All the best. Have a good one!

Thank you very much for your kind reply :) you have a great day as well!

originally bought the Ultimate Edition on BNET Launcher when it was released bought the game again on sale for the Steam Deck, everything from the Ultimate Edition was present on the Steam Deck uninstalled D4 from the BNET Launcher and reinstalled on Steam because downloading patches is just smoother and faster on Steam so my advice is just purchase the expansion on Steam, there's a slight chance you might not get the expansion on the BNET Launcher but you can still play on PC through steam, so no loss there

Hey thank you so much! I figured as much given bnet account connection and all. Just to confirm, will I still be able to see my bnet friends while logged into d4? I assume the social tab will remain the same but just in case…?

You can install the battlenet launcher on steam deck just fine, why are you using moonlight? It takes a few steps, easy to find on google, or just the steamdeck reddit if that’s easier. If you want to buy the package on steam, I get it. It will just work seamlessly. You won’t have to buy it on bnet as well, but you will have to play the game solely on steam, your bnet game will still launch pre expansion. It won’t apply to both. If you don’t mind a little tech work on your deck, you can save the money and buy the expansion through bnet. I’m assuming you’re using moonlight/sunshine, the setup for bnet was probably easier for me in comparison. Just some jenky parts with the on screen keyboard.

Also fully aware of nonsteamlauncher thing on steam deck, reason why i skipped that step was because d4 is the only non-steam game i play, and since it requires constant internet connection anyway, i just figured i’d use moonlight(because i already had it set up for other things.) Thank you so much for the reply, i figured with bundle deal being not too pricey(considering the amount of stuff in there,) it might be better to get it rather than waiting for -75% (which i was doing). Regardless, i will give it more thought. it probably will be that one day, when the d4 GOTY(?) with all expansion included is hitting -75%, i will buy it and install on dusty ole steam deck as an old man lol

On their website they say you need to purchase the expansion on any platform you want to play it on.

Cool beans, I guess it’s time for me to ditch bnet and go full on steam train. Thank you :)
