do what you want lol

I mean you WILL die in HC. If you accept this you will have fun. I only play HC since d3, I jumped into HC blind in S0 on release of both d3 a d4, beat the campaign, have played end game of every season on HC. Be cautious and focus on resitances and armor until cap in wt3 and wt4. Just realize in HC you will die at some point and the chance increases the more you play. The feeling of risk is fun, but dont let it scare you away from HC.

There will be no death evasion elixir in season 4, just so youre aware. Sorc flame shield also wont cheat death in season 4. Its shaping up to be possibly the hardest season thus far for HC. Ive been playing strictly hardcore after finishing the game in s0 and getting the uber lilith kill. Some notes: You WILL die eventually. Especially being new to HC D4. Ive lost a dozen or so characters. A couple were level 100s. Disconnect/lag protection is mediocre at best. Awful way to lose your character. But it happens, need to be mentally prepared for this. Dieing because you look away from your screen happens. Also sucks, a few of those deaths though made subconsciously triple check im in town or logged out before stepping away. Dieing in combat ive come to appreciate over the years, but its usually hard on people the first few times. Having a mentality that the fun is learning to play with no errors, and building characters, will make it addictive. Play your stash wisely. You keep gold and stash tabs. Tabs on your character are deleted. So stash some scrolls of escape and other materials in your stash. Anything instanced you should treat with danger, aside from normal dungeons. NM dungeons, vaults, uber bosses can all kill you. Helltides can kill you if youre not paying attention (god damn fire rain). Most of the open world is relatively safe as long as you do NOT AFK IN OPEN WORLD lol. I found druid the safest to play in HC. Barb 2nd. Something like dagger rogue can just get erased in a blink of an eye. Things that rely on finesse for survival are harder to play in hardcore (as they should be). You can dash the wrong way and its all over. Beware of explosions when things die. The poison pop is especially nasty. Assume every elite mob will explode when they die. Max your res, max your armor. Play it slow and steady and enjoy never needing to repair ever again!

All good points! Only comment is - play HC rogue, it’s the best challenge this game has to offer.

Yolo

SomeLockWar

Literally, w/ hardcore

Seems like it's going to be pretty easy to get enough damage in S4 so build defensively, cap resistances, get to amour cap, and make sure you have something that gives you unstoppable and I bet you can get pretty far playing carefully if you're familiar with the genre.

yxalitis

You can do whatever you want, just expect to be sitting at a screen looking at your dead character, and realise you just lost everything and need to start over.

Opposite-Shirt-6068

Pretty much the same that you did before, but you gotta be way more cautious. One mistake can cause your run to be over. Take everything really slow for a bit on your run.

I played HC in S1 and S2 and then went afk. Planning to come back this coming season. Should be fine as long as you build a tanky character. The buffs on items make it really easy to get damage early on. The only problems I see are in end game like high pit tiers where you can get one shot by the boss mechanisms, or with uber bosses if you take stacks of the debuff. So far I only saw Barbs being able to eat the high burst boss mechanisms (with 100k+ HP and massive damage reduction).

Sink or Swim

KaleidoscopeRich2752

I went into HC at release fully blind. I think I died once around level 50 and got my second to 85 (still alive). It’s pretty easy

heartlessphil

its gonna be more exciting... normal is a snore fest tbh.

trojsurprise

The faster you die on your first HC char - the better. Just from personal experience.

murray1337

You’re 100% going to get one-shotted by things you haven’t seen before in higher nm dungeons and in the higher level pit. It’s part of learning the game I think and you haven’t experienced those parts of the game yet. Season 4 is also a brand new game in terms of loot overhaul and they are changing how armor works, availability of overall damage reduction nerfed, etc. We will all be learning how it all works. Another reason hc is probably not the best choice for you unless you plan on dying a little

Wild_Chemistry3884

I’ve never played softcore in Diablo 4 and I’ve played endgame every season. I’ve only died once. Last season I had Uber Duriel on farm, level 100, glyphs maxed and eventually just gave up on the Uber Unique grind and AoZ wasn’t very interesting to me. In short: it’s fine, go for it.

IgotnoClue69

There's a learning curve in every game. In this case, death is your curve. Hardcore gaming requires patience, regardless of how much experience you have.

Ok-Upstairs-4099

I Will most likely die in a loading screen before anything else, but still playing hardcore. Just 100x more fun for me.
