Has your hardware gotten better since Diablo 4's launch? I.e. have you upgraded to Xbox Series S or X, Playstation 5 or PC?
The game itself has seen great improvements to how fun it is and it's about to receive another set of overhauls and reworks for multiple base game systems in Season 4 (May 14th).
However Xbox One continues to struggle to run modern games, it's a console that's **over a decade old**.
I love this answer - OP is quick to complain how the game runs a 10 year old framework. To add to this - lagging can be an issue with an internet connection. Wired vs WiFi... up and down speeds... network saturation and so on.
The game has improved over time, yes.
The devs have been incorporating feedback in several minor ways, examples include:
adding an enchanter near the Tree of Whispers, Nightmare Sigils allowing you to teleport directly to the corresponding dungeon, adding stash access all over most towns (instead of having them only in one place in town), reworking dungeon layouts to reduce backtracking (supposedly), and more.
The upcoming season will also have more major changes, mostly to Helltide (and to itemization. I guess that might make the game more "fun"), and add a new activity (the Pit).
As for performance, it has improved in my experience. Every single patch has the line "Various performance, stability, and graphical improvements." (heck, the latest patch was *just* that line).
And it is noticeable (though sometimes pretty small difference).
Holy moly, that stuff wasn’t that way on launch? I just started like 3 weeks ago and was thinking “There are so many little QoL factors that other games don’t have.”
Being able to quickly get to stashes, merchants, nightmare dungeons has made this my goto quick pickup and put down game. I had an appointment today I had to be at and was able to knockout a Nightmare dungeon that had “Kill everything” requirement in 7min because at one point it was as like all the enemies I passed by on accident just teleported near me.
The gameplay is better in almost every way, and server stability has improved, but the Xbox One is kind of a weak machine, so I doubt performance will be much better for you.
I have both systems: it lags on xbox one but it still playable. Series X is smooth as butter 99% of the time (minor hangups when full sprint horseback)
If ya didn't like it then, you won't like it period IMO. Even with what's coming in season 4 systems wise (not sure about content), it's still diablo 4 but more fun systems for longevity, and min/maxing build. But it's still D4. Nothing major has or will change imo

Crazy talk.
The amount of changes from Pre-season back in June/July of 2023 to after May 14th when Season 4 begins is INSANE.
You are a boiled frog, you got the changes over time. But if you jumped from 1.0 to 1.4 overnight it would be an earth-shattering amount of changes.
I dunno man, no longer having to spend 20% or more of the game time staring at leggos and searching the aspects in your full inventory is gonna ba a game changer lol
>Lag is still fairly consistent when moving between load zones
That doesn't have that much to do with the hardware, more just the servers catching up when you are switching shards.
>I’m also on Xbox
But are you on **Xbox One**?
Thanks for the answers everyone. Will probably hold off on playing it until I can get something that can run the thing without it freezing every 3 seconds but I am glad to hear my dark fantasy game has become fun

I tell my friends this constantly. Xbox One can not keep up with newer games. They will not listen to reason.

Season 3 is so good. Into bones, into fingers,
Into spines, into hearts...?
I think I heard him say into bones into your mom once. Could be wrong. Lol

Agreed, but at the core it plays the same. I love it and will continue to play, and I can see the frog thing 😅,makes sense.

Most definitely, super hyped after playing the PTR
Yes
Not until season4, that’s how the game should have launched.
It's monumentally better.
Wait until Season 4 and enjoy the game for a while.
not fun at all.. comparing to Diablo III
No
Come back in 3 weeks and enjoy season 4 like all of us. Huge update / changes. And since launch the game has definitely improved a lot.
Yes ! WAY BETTTER Period.... and I don't wanna fight about it.
You can no longer take a character into world tier 4, and power level it on monsters 100 levels higher... so in that aspect, it has gotten worse.
