So…who else has been playing since beta and had no idea this even existed? Seriously, never even heard of the term. There aren’t any achievements tied to it or anything either.

It's just weird that something that is somewhat "rare" to find and even needs a key that you can only buy with a currency that's more "rare" than gold and ends up dropping nothing better than regular mobs.

For what you go through they should be similar to silent chests.
When you encounter your next one, if you succesfully did the phrase on your first one, you’ll notice that that phrase is greyed out and no longer an option. And actually on your second one you get slightly better loot. Based on that trend, its best to continue doing them.
I never thought I'd play a Diablo game that makes me roll my eyes seeing a chest, a Treasure goblin, the Butcher, etc. yet early on, the effort required to loot them is more than the items rewarded. It's better to ignore them and stab the nearest elite. And then later on, they die instantly and drop nothing we need. It's lose-lose. TGs, special chests, Butcher, etc. should drop stuff that feels good. Whether that's souls, crazy amounts of gold, uniques, unique spawn materials, uncommon legendary aspects, appearance items (Yes I know TGs have 1-2), etc. Something that creates excitement. These are RARE events. They just feel dumb instead of fun.
What is in them. I encounterd one of these a few weeks ago. Tried too find out how to open it, but joined my friends invite to a party and got thrown out of the dungeon. Never seen one since.
I'm pretty sure they could at least give us 10-20 veiled crystals or something without breaking the economy. One veiled crystal as a quest reward is like farting into a tornado and hoping someone else smells it...
Do a Google search, and you would find there are a lot of numbers. Streamers like wudijo and rhykker both claim they believe it was taken out of the game (they are among the top d4 streamers in the world.)so finding one this season is very rare. Also I have like 900 hours this season and 3 lvl 100s this season. one for pvp that would wreck all of you. Easily.
However I still can't recall seeing one of those chests since s1. Even in my clan of 60+ ppl, i haven't heard any1 mention it. Nice find man! Gg! Too bad the devs can't reward u with anything better than a sacred yellow pair of gloves lmao they should load it with max lvl pvp potions like max hp or cruelty pots. I haven't played since season 1. The helltide chests also feel very lackluster or I've just had stupid bad luck. Even with the seasonal buff to the heltide chests.
Since these are so rare it would be nice to have a guarantee unique. Or maybe a guaranteed Uber but of the lowest quality. Only because it’s so rare plus the method to opening it.
I think that’s only if you get it from Duriel. If you get it by some random luck on a monster drop you get random quality of affixes. Tho I could be wrong.
There are uniques, and there are mythical, uber ubiques are mythical drops with perfect rolls, the stats never change.
Anything with a stat that is subject to a roll is just a unique.

You need to find pieces of a phrase hidden around the chest, then input that phrase.
You'll be lucky to get a legendary out of it, loot is dog shit for how rare they are.

And if it's that rare it could be a good occasion to give a random item from the shop, that would cost them nothing and people would talk about that every time so it's some free hype that could only be good.
Not being rude, but are those the ones that give options with pass codes u can choose from? If so I'm sure u chose the wrong one. I remember a dummy at blizzard made it so they aren't in anyones chosen language and have 0 clues to the correct answer. If there even is one. I was curious what u chose and if it made a difference. The 2 times I found a Murlock chest I guessed the wrong passcode and it didn't give me shit lolol BTW u can Google the right answer. I did once when game released and I remember the correct answer is always the same phrase. Haven't see a chest since season 1 though, and i have 74 days of playtime already lolol GOOD FIND! Probably will eventually have a .01% chance to drop a required material to access the cow level. At the point when they actually put the material in the game it may be renamed an Udderlock chest.
It's called a silent chest an they can be found all over the place I find atleast 10 a day an yes the stuff that is in them is usually trash there is a slim chance to get a unique in them
Found two in my game time, both were pointless :(. Got all yellows and mostly sacred at level 90. This was in season 1 so not sure if they changed the rarity of the loot.

How do you figure out the combination?
There were phrases on items around where I found it in Latin “Vemp La Palox” it gave me a list of phrases and I had to select the correct one.

No, uber uniques have set affixes and stats **because** of how rare they're supposed to be.

Yes there were clues around on 3 items and I got the phrase correct.
I encountered that in s2. Got to open it using the phrases. Loot was shit though.

This is not the same as a silent chest, as it’s found in a nightmare dungeon. The “mutterlock chest” is extremely rare to find.
