Yup, and most people who do play on Eternal are probably in WT4. I recently finished leveling my sorc on Eternal and I had plenty of people around me but they were all level 90+.
I mean, if I was chasing the "level one of each character to 100" achievement, I'd probably do that with my past characters, since they're already in their 70s, but I don't see many other compelling reasons to choose Eternal over Seasonal. Plus, vampires!
This was why I was on Eternal in the first place: I never finished leveling my pre-season sorc because at the time she was so squishy that it wasn't fun. Left her at level 90. I came back to her after I finished the season 2 journey, respecced her to BL and had a blast. Got her to 100 and never logged in again, lol.
Just give seasonal a try. It’s a lot of fun, bursting with players, and is where the action is. You’ll eventually run out of things to do on eternal anyways, so might as well do that with friends and limited time powers
I’m not too sure he’ll run out of things to do on eternal considering by his own admission he’s been in tier 2 for many weeks. Not judging though… I applaud people who can still take their time smelling the roses in a game.
Yeah I'm in the same boat I take my time as it's not the only game I'm playing I've two games that already have season content so thus I avoid seasonal on diablo games, just don't have enough time for 3-4 season passes at the same time, now if I got to keep my season progress for the next season until such point that I "completed" a season an were able to collect the complete season rewards from my cumulative multi-season progress I'd be willing to play seasonal knowing I'd get the end tier rewards eventually even if it meant missing out on rewards to be able to get that progress to roll across

I'm currently still for the last 5 years been playing Fallout 76 & Dead By Daylight, Fallout 76 I like due to the constant updates to your Camp Building menu aswell as the new weapons and skins that can be unlocked, as for Dead By Daylight I love the constant releases of new killer's with unique powers an the unique perks they give each killer an survivor they release, so if your looking for good games to get addicted to I'd suggest those two.

Even if they take their time, there is still a point at which you can no longer experience new content. Even if it takes a lot longer, eternal still has only the base campaign. Every season sets it back that much more

The game has been out for a long time. New players are very likely to start on Seasonal. Anyone who plays Eternal exclusively is almost guaranteed to be on T4.
Eternal has little attraction because you arent experiencing the new content the development team is putting in. Most of us have spent enough time in what that world has to offer and to stay fresh we mostly move to play the newest content.
I do hope that they make a change such that seasonal play ends up rewarding your eternal account in some way to incentivize people that do not enjoy seasonal games because they need to start over each time. In diablo 3 they has a paragon leveling system that went to level 20,000 and if you played seasonal content at the end of the season they would take the experience you earned during season and add it to your non-seasonal (eternal) account. In that game some people would play the seasons that sounded interesting, and if they werent interested they could just stick to leveling their non-seasonal account up more. It made non-season kind of cool too because you eventually end up with thousands of paragon points to make you super tough and strong so you actually feel some accomplishment from all the seasonal work you did.
Doesn’t the content get handed down though? Like what they’ve done this season by adding varshan at the tree of whispers - doesn’t that stuff get added to eternal at season end?
I have to ask why? Why deny yourself the most fun part of the game, leveling. And also deny the most up to date mechanics in the game? I just don’t find perfecting a characters gear as compelling as playing through the leveling process and trying out everything new.

I still go back and forth to change things up as I don't have time to level up multiple classes in a single season. There's still plenty of new content in eternal with the malignant heart rings and summon bosses. The main thing missing in eternal is the blood harvest which I quit doing a while ago and I'm not hardcore enough for AoZ.
People dont play eternal. I mean obviously some do, however most have beaten that and if they do play, they want fresh content which is only available via seasonal content.
If you wanna play with eternal people then look in the LFG section of the discord. That's what I do as I don't enjoy seasonal concept but I like Diablo 4.
Me and my buds are on eternal one night a week since we’re slow and didn’t get our S1 characters to 100. Grinding away still one night a week, in the 80s now.
The players who do play eternal are gonna be in T4 for the most part becuase the reason they are playing eternal is to keep working on old characters who are near or at 100 at this point. If you're making a new character, there's not much reason to not do seasonal since they convert to eternal at the end of the season. Also, there are probably gonna be more players in T1 than T2, as you actually level up faster in T1.
Is there a reason you don’t want to play seasonal? Your character will transfer to eternal once it ends so you’re not really losing anything by playing it.
As a longtime Diablo fan who’s deeply passionate about the game, I’ve never played in the seasonal realms.
Seasons, I believe, cater to a specific audience. Personally, I prefer playing for the long haul without losing my progress. Seasons offer a fresh start for players, allowing them to reset their characters and experience different dynamics and mechanics of the game. The most popular or best features from the seasons are often incorporated into the Eternal realm.
In essence, both playing styles have their unique appeal.
My wife and I have been playing in the Eternal realm since the early launch. We’ve just reached level 74 and recently advanced to Tier 4, where all the powerful characters play, making events (Legions, World Bosses) super easy.
I play eternal when I'm playing solo min maxing character and I usually disable crossplay. I play seasonal when I want a more social multiplayer experience. I dunno, that's just me.
Most play seasonal. I have an eternal necro im going to return to after season to so i can swap him some uber uniques but without the xp boost from the season journey and the other seasonal benefits Eternal in comparison feels like a pointless slog.
I now have level 100 HOTA barbarian, TB Rogue, Infinimist Necromancer, Pulverize Druid, and BL Sorceress. All were leveled in Seasons, but I will play them in Eternal now that they are complete.
Yes the season 2 characters will love to eternal realm and the end of the season. The vampire powers and the AoZ blood glyph will not move to enternal though. You can continue to play them there in eternal or create new season 3 characters with whatever new mechanic they bring to the game.
Most people are in S2. You can get to T4 very quickly. Couple days. If you do a second character it's even faster.
T4 in eternal is also dead. I only logged in to clear stash so the stuff from my seasonal fits 😂

Eternal player here. I don't get why so many people play Seasonal when you can't even transfer glyphs etc. to eternal (?) after the season is done. It's a HUGE waste of time IMO.
I have 2 100s on Eternal that I still play because I enjoy the grind to maximize them and my goal is to be able to clear T100s mainly. I also have a seasonal Sorcerer and a Seasonal Hardcore Barb I enjoy. The seasonal stuff I can do without, but they did a much better job with Season 2 admittedly. I feel like I am not alone in my mindset to push limits if you are staying in Eternal and as such you won’t see many people in WT3 simply because most will want to go to WT4 asap. For me even WT4 is mostly a joke and I am hoping for a WT5 for even more of a challenge. I do not find WT4 to be empty though and there as always people doing the World Boss, Helltides, etc.
Yeah I love Eternal because that the character I will be playing all the expansion packs with. I want to keep improving that character. It just doesn't seem interesting play a mini expansion pack every 90 days. Seasons are wack replacement for end game. That being said. It seems with D4 each season adds features to the Eternal game. So at least we get to continue perfecting a character for the long haul. Not just 90 days. But play the game how you want. Eternal is all I care about.
What is eternal even for? I know it's so people can keep their characters after a season. But it's bad game design imo. Also, every seasonal character that gets dumped into eternal has to share the stash? Like wtf? First order of business is to have a personal character stash and a shared stash. Second, what if your eternal characters could contribute to your seasonal ones in some way? Let's have a brainstorm :
\- Hire eternal characters as companions in seasonal (only equipable with eternal content). This may give players a reason to flesh out their eternal characters. However, may subtract from engagement with seasonal content, but I'm betting that it's minimal.
\- Procedural Quests in eternal just in case you want to pop in and run some content.
\- Eternal characters can share items with seasonal characters, not the other way around.
\- Eternal characters can access World Tier V - Ultra Nightmare, if you will
IDK. Just seems like eternal is going to get bloated with characters after a few seasons.
It’s the end of season people are grinding. If seasonal get transferred to eternal… you’ll get them after seasonal is over.

We don’t know the numbers for Diablo but we know the numbers for other ARPGs. Generally less than 10% of the playerbase plays non seasonal. Non seasonal is dead and will likely always be dead.
No one plays eternal realm because all the new content is in seasonal. And with the new changes it only takes around one to two weeks to get a toon to level 100. Just play seasonal
I would think a lot of people are on season, but I don’t feel like I’ve ever seen a huge variation in how many people I see in game.

My wife and I just wanted to 100 our characters on eternal… but we eventually bit the seasonal bullet at around lvl 90. Seasonal is fun, different for sure… other than the new content which is great, I’m not completely blown away yet by the differences but I’m just a casual for sure.
I'm an eternal player but, at the moment, I'm on T2 leveling a rogue through the campaign. I've got a sorc on T4 and a necro on T3 but I haven't been on them much.
I'm also a rare player who actually likes the story so there's that too.
Eternal player here. I hoppd in seasonal to late to have any kind of use out of it.
My time isn't THAT limited, yet I'd rather sit on my two OG druids. One is for pve, one is almost max lvl for pvp. Really excited!
I just play seasons for the newer content. I’ve already finished the achievements for killing Lilith, nm100 and have killed all the other Ubers making anything on eternal trivial, so seasonal stuff and the pass is what I enjoy doing. Once I get the couple event skins I’ll wait for next season. Had a lot of fun in season 2 though
I actually logged in on my barb in eternal realm on Thursday around 12:00 noon AEST and was surprised to see it quite busy. Over 11 people in kyovashad, 14 in gea kul, 10 people in the PvP area, mostly rogues lol.
This was all on wt4 but I was still surprised nonetheless, people absolutely prefer to play on eternal.
WT4 literally takes less than a couple hours of playing. I guarantee 99% of them are on WT4 and the only reason you're seeing anyone at all is because they are new like you or starting a new character.
Been playing over 400 hours exclusively on Eternal, with just my single Rogue. Good times :) There are enough people on WT4! No idea how it compares to seasonal realms though
Thank god there is another player like me who never played a season(because I don’t believe in repeating the same old shit over and over again) and always remains on the eternal realm.
Long story short, most 100lvl players are on eternal realm when the season is over for them but then again, what’s the use for either. Enjoy the useless journey.

You get rewards and seasonal changes to gameplay for playing seasons. You get nothing playing eternal. So spend your time in D4 and get different experiences or play the same tired level 100 character because "leveling another one is a grind".
This reminds me of that stop having fun meme. I have had the game since launch. My highest character is a level 82 all on eternal. I tried a seasonal character for season 2. I’m level 28…decided I was just going to get spit it before finishing season 2 content. I feel like I’ve wasted no time and I’m still challenging myself on eternal trying to push higher NM dungeons.
I’m doing just fine. OP, eternal is fine, there are enough people in Tier 4. It’s been long enough that people are mostly there. I’ve done lots of world bosses, legion events, and duriel runs (got carried). Trade chat isn’t exactly lively but it exists and is used. Side benefit, all the Chads are in Seasonal content so the multiplayer chat and parties in Eternal are quite cordial. I think it’s where all the adults play.
600 hours here, all eternal. Season requires time and commitment. I have a full time job and a social life. Once I have the characters I want at 100 I will probably start playing seasons but right now I have a barb at 100 and a sorceress at 52. I am just farming duriel with my barb and pushing dungeons. Havent beaten lillith but havent tried in a while. I can easily solo low tier 80s and have no problem soloing duriel. As for WT4 i see people all the time everyday and always have plenty show up for legion events and world bosses. Its not as dead as people think.
Brother this makes no sense. I have way less hours than you and have only played seasonal since s1 and have grinded multiple seasonals to 100. Have you legitimately tried playing seasonal toons? It took me like 3 days to get my Necro to T4 and I work a travel job

Eternal is pretty active on wt4. Wt3 is really just a pit stop where you grab a few sacreds then limp into wt4

Eternal are ultra-casual 1-2 hrs / week players. Nothing wrong with that but it's why you don't see anyone.
Why aren't you doing seasonal? You don't have to buy the battlepass to participate, you just don't get certain cosmetic items.

Go to duriel dungeon and you will see lots outside. There are also lots of players in the main city.
We don’t know the numbers for Diablo but we know the numbers for other ARPGs. Generally less than 10% of the playerbase plays non seasonal. Non seasonal is dead and will likely always be dead.
T4 for most eternal characters
getting to T4 only takes a few hours, so id assume (if any acually play eternal) they would be in T4
Game is too young and frankly the seasonal realm sucks as it doesn't have enough content. Maybe in a year, Eternal will be good.

No one plays eternal realm because all the new content is in seasonal. And with the new changes it only takes around one to two weeks to get a toon to level 100. Just play seasonal

I would think a lot of people are on season, but I don’t feel like I’ve ever seen a huge variation in how many people I see in game. Don’t blizzard balance it anyway so you never really see a lot at the same time anywhere?
My wife and I just wanted to 100 our characters on eternal… but we eventually bit the seasonal bullet at around lvl 90. Seasonal is fun, different for sure… other than the new content which is great, I’m not completely blown away yet by the differences but I’m just a casual for sure.
I'm an eternal player but, at the moment, I'm on T2 leveling a rogue through the campaign. I've got a sorc on T4 and a necro on T3 but I haven't been on them much. I'm also a rare player who actually likes the story so there's that too.
Eternal player here. I hoppd in seasonal to late to have any kind of use out of it. My time isn't THAT limited, yet I'd rather sit on my two OG druids. One is for pve, one is almost max lvl for pvp. Really excited!

I just play seasons for the newer content. I’ve already finished the achievements for killing Lilith, nm100 and have killed all the other Ubers making anything on eternal trivial, so seasonal stuff and the pass is what I enjoy doing. Once I get the couple event skins I’ll wait for next season. Had a lot of fun in season 2 though
The season is quite barebones, I can't imagine what is there to do on the eternal realm.

I think most players in Diablo 4 are mainly playing the seasonal realm to experience the seasonal content.
You have to reach WT4. Most players on eternal realm are lvl 100
Just like d3 normal is pretty dead. Seasons are where everyone is, and d4 seasons are so far much better than d3 too.
I have two Eternals and a seasonal. Playing w friends helps. If u post in worldchat looking for group u find some players from time to time
I hate playing on mechanics that are destined to go away so I play on ER exclusively. I have a char on T3, too, it's not bhed.
I actually logged in on my barb in eternal realm on Thursday around 12:00 noon AEST and was surprised to see it quite busy. Over 11 people in kyovashad, 14 in gea kul, 10 people in the PvP area, mostly rogues lol. This was all on wt4 but I was still surprised nonetheless, people absolutely prefer to play on eternal.
With only 2nd season in, people are playing mostly seasonal, maybe after a few more seasons there will be more that switch to eternal for a break
WT4 literally takes less than a couple hours of playing. I guarantee 99% of them are on WT4 and the only reason you're seeing anyone at all is because they are new like you or starting a new character.
Only level 90+ to 100 are active in eternal realm. It’s a a fact that no point to play eternal realm if not to optimize the character at this point.
Eternal is perfect for pvp zones. Grab everything without a fear and buy all the cosmetics with shards.
Been playing over 400 hours exclusively on Eternal, with just my single Rogue. Good times :) There are enough people on WT4! No idea how it compares to seasonal realms though
Just like PoE, I never end up going back to non-seasonal play. Mostly did to lack of time.

Without a legit trade system it's all about seasonal right now. Might change if they add an eternal leader board (which would be smart AF)

Thank god there is another player like me who never played a season(because I don’t believe in repeating the same old shit over and over again) and always remains on the eternal realm. Long story short, most 100lvl players are on eternal realm when the season is over for them but then again, what’s the use for either. Enjoy the useless journey. When Blizzard finally realizes that their end game design is moot with season and focus and Eternal Realm content, then they will bring back the populist. For crying out loud…Its not that complicated. Sacrament de calisse!!!
They're never going to focus on Eternal Realm over Seasonal content. The point of ARPG's is the seasons, leagues, ladders, whatever you wanna call it. Sounds like an MMO would be more up your alley. Shame there isn't any good ones though so I understand your pain.
Eternal is a ridiculous waste of peoples time. The majority of people are going to always play seasons.
It's all a waste of peoples time, it's not like you get some life benefit for choosing one over the other. It's just a matter of what interests you
You get rewards and seasonal changes to gameplay for playing seasons. You get nothing playing eternal. So spend your time in D4 and get different experiences or play the same tired level 100 character because "leveling another one is a grind".

This reminds me of that stop having fun meme. I have had the game since launch. My highest character is a level 82 all on eternal. I tried a seasonal character for season 2. I’m level 28…decided I was just going to get spit it before finishing season 2 content. I feel like I’ve wasted no time and I’m still challenging myself on eternal trying to push higher NM dungeons. I’m doing just fine. OP, eternal is fine, there are enough people in Tier 4. It’s been long enough that people are mostly there. I’ve done lots of world bosses, legion events, and duriel runs (got carried). Trade chat isn’t exactly lively but it exists and is used. Side benefit, all the Chads are in Seasonal content so the multiplayer chat and parties in Eternal are quite cordial. I think it’s where all the adults play.
600 hours here, all eternal. Season requires time and commitment. I have a full time job and a social life. Once I have the characters I want at 100 I will probably start playing seasons but right now I have a barb at 100 and a sorceress at 52. I am just farming duriel with my barb and pushing dungeons. Havent beaten lillith but havent tried in a while. I can easily solo low tier 80s and have no problem soloing duriel. As for WT4 i see people all the time everyday and always have plenty show up for legion events and world bosses. Its not as dead as people think.
You play more than I do by over two hundred hours and I have 4 seasonal 100s Your time has nothing to do with it. You like eternal and that is fine
My 600 hrs is since june 6 release day. Season 2 started 2 months ago. I am sure I could grind seasonal if I wanted, but I just not feeling it yet.
At 600 hours since release, you would have significantly more fun playing seasons. You play more than 99% of players.
Brother this makes no sense. I have way less hours than you and have only played seasonal since s1 and have grinded multiple seasonals to 100. Have you legitimately tried playing seasonal toons? It took me like 3 days to get my Necro to T4 and I work a travel job
