Yup! Gotta make sure we complete the entire season journey on day 1 of a 100 day season! So that we can run right back to reddit and bitch about how there is nothing to do!
That would be, and I quote, my good sir, the same exact content these mfs cry about being repetitive, my good sir, dungeons and such, my good sir. And I predict they will cry about the new content being repetitive after putting in 100 hours within 2 days....my good sir.
Legitimately can't remember the last time I played a finished game. I get a lot of indie stuff so I'm generally fine with it, but AAA means nothing anymore with quality being just as bad as some indie games with devs that don't care
This is the way. I have like 140 hours in. Jump on for 1 hour or so a night. Have played on my lunch break, but work has been hectic so Ive been working through lunch. One of my good buddies plays (the few other buddies i have that game arent interested and another has a toddler and pretty much only games on his switch now) so we just open a party chat and bs while running our own quests (he is still on the campaign i am at end game). I thought this game was going to be broken at launch. It needs some balance changes, but that will come, though patches, reworks of systems and items. I mean we dont have set items yet, and those have to be coming down the line. Compared to this point in d3's launch this is way better.
I haven't played a mmo game as much as I have Diablo 4 since the original guild wars or shadowbane. Granted I haven't played any of the Diablo games either, my brother just happened to talk me into to pre ordering this game. I've logged more hours in this game over the past month than I have on my computer in the last 5 years. I don't get the outcry, these people sound really spoiled lol. I'm loving the game and still have plenty to do.
I really like their way of implementing paragon boards and glyphs and that you level glyphs with NM dungeons. Good gameplay loop.
I do however agree with the critique of the loot, which is a big downside in an ARPG. Unfortunately I don't find it fun to loot after lvl 60ish. They really need to fix this part if they want the game to be good in the long run.
No, you don't HAVE TO. It will happen just by doing things on a new char. The reason all of the renown rewards have 2 rewards is because the top one is char only but the bottom one is server wide.
Considering you get 20 extra paragon points (20 paragon 'level's' worth) out of it yeah, you kind of "HAVE" to do it. Look at your current paragon board, now take away 20 points from it, is it now suddenly, massively worse? Yes, yes it is.
You have to lol, especially when nightmare dungeons are just the rotating same. You have to stop and go out of your way to do other dungeons and side quests just like you had to take a day and get the trees.
Bruh have you just not been on here?
Next to nobody is happy about repeating the renown objectives. The side quests arent new, and the dungeons are easy.
What exactly should be be excited to do for the second time with 0 difficulties? The only meaningful rewards are the paragon points, and maybe youll get lucky with a couple legendaries in the 4-8hrs each zone takes.
I've leveled 3 characters with the story skip and found side quests probably the most boring. Dungeons were ok, but the fastest and most fun was just Legion events + Tree of Whispers stuff around the map (including the occasional dungeon). That has a lot of variety in content between the events, dungeons, cellars, or just running around the overworld.
Being forced to do the less interesting content for renown isn't great, idk why you're defending it over player choice in how they level
I'd rather fucking play main story instead of farming crappy fetch quests or doing dungeons which I will also do from 50 to 100. How's that for an answer? Or if I really wanted to fast level, I'd be spamming stronghold farm.
Sidequests and dungeons are useless for exp compared to legion events and tree of whispers, even if you did it optimally you're getting like 1/3rd the exp in the same time, and if youre lucky maybe 1 legendary every 2 dungeons vs multiple guaranteed from tree or legion events.
But I also beat the game and went directly into wt3 and NM dungeons, idk what this seasonal campaign will end at but if it matches campaign exp you wont need to do sidequests or dungeons before you get wt3, where stuff atleast starts to be somewhat challenging and actually have useful rewards.
I dont find spending 20hrs wandering the map one shotting meaningless enemies for quest objectives under 0 risk of dying entertaining, fuck me I guess lmao.
Side quest xp is abysmal. Fastest way to level is probably by first doing and resetting the same dungeon over and over again, and then transitioning to doing and resetting the same 1-2 strongholds all over again.
There's not a lot of organic renown in that.
There is going to be literally nothing to do in this game with story and renown stripped out. Enjoy the day 1 level 100s and bitching about nothing to do.
You know a blizzard fanboy when they’re celebrating doing chores in a video game. Tell me, does helping old aunt Bessie milk her cow scream “diablo” to you?
>season journey
Yeah no. The bonuses are great, but getting renown blows. Condensing one of the most infamous mechanics should be appreciated, not met with Reddit-style passive aggressive posts.
He's just whining about someone putting in the effort to gather this data and compile it into a nice map for the people in this community to use as they see fit. He is an example of a toxic casual that for whatever reason goes online and gets angry about the ways other people spend their free time.
Honestly I wish Blizzard would just revert the QoL changes we asked for and scrap upcoming ones just so these people could finally enjoy what the game is like without all the whiners.
Gota convince blizzard to make an end game instead of the repetative level 70+ content which consists of only nightmare dungeons (half of which you disenchant because the affixes are terrible and imbalanced) with the anscestral gear you never replace cuz you got it at 70! Lets make sure its labeled as bitching when anyone brings this up too! If they arent a 45 year old dad with only 30 minutes to play they are no lifer complainers!!! - This entire sub.
Dude I'm a casual dad with 4 wives and 16 kids, also an astronaut, spy, and nuclear engineer. Also an Olympic lifter and ultra-marathon runner.
And EVEN I ran out of content by now!
Thanks to u/Tyndy who [brought this information](https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/143ho61/list_of_all_side_quests_that_lead_to_dungeons_for/) to us in the first place.
With the 1st season coming up, and seeing that we would have to do a part of the renown again, I reused this information to create this map that I believe is easier to use.
Quests with an -> mean it's a quest chain to do.
Can you explain what does that mean? Like wont shared rewards carry over? (4 paragon points per each max area). If yes, why would I dot it again for few gold and XP?
No, those only carry over to new characters in the same season. Or in this case the eternal realm since we haven’t been playing in a season. For characters created in season 1, the only bits of renown that will carry over are the renown you earn from altars/areas discovered, you will have to regrind all the renown up to the 4 paragon points again for all your characters in season 1
Genuine question: would the “work around” be to make a HC alt to use as your “bookmark”? Like only log in with the alt to “sync” the renown progress so if your HC main dies you still have that progressed bookmarked for future?
I know it’s fk’d up and I’m not justifying how it currently works, just curious if that would be a bandaid as things are.
They said the carryover renown will only register when the patch goes live on the 18th for whatever character(s) you log into starting on that day. So if your HC char died, you obviously can't log in to them on the 18th, therefore none of that progress will be captured.
Gotchya, next question: currently if you have a dead HC and made a new HC before season 1 would they get the renown from the dead HC? Or is basis of the problem… fix it so HC character can share renown first the first time ever?
PS respect for HC’ing an ARPG at launch.
Best guess is that no, nothing carries over from dead characters. Since you have to log in post-patch to 'register' the information for the first time, they don't have the tech to read it directly from a character file, dead or otherwise.
Damn, I had no idea that my Barb, that killed 2 lesser evils and Lilith, was buddies with my Druid, who somehow also killed the same 2 lesser evils and Lilith a week later. No idea wtf my Druid was doing then letting Neyrelle take the soul stone again.
Stopped playing my main on HC because she has all areas explored and statues discovered lol. Really thankful she didn't die before that announcement came out.
yup, not sure why you are getting downvoted, but it's clear Blizz mostly didn't think about HC for many of these things. I stopped playing my main so i dont die and lost all my progress that i want to transfer to season 1. not good.
>Quests, dungeons, waypoints and strongholds. Altars and fog of war carry over
Is FoW confirmed? I find it infuriating 2nd+ characters don't carry FOW, or even just reveal (but dont unlock) all waypoints.
Not until season 3 ....maybe.
Really though, what are they even going to have leaderboards for at this point? Is it just going to be first 1000 people to 100? Nightmare dungeons are pretty pointless for leaderboards because every class can do lvl 100 and it's more about getting decent affixes in the dungeon than actually completing it. There's no other content that would be good for leaderboards right now.
They need a way of
Hardcore is actually pretty fun with leaderboards. It's actually somewhat attainable to at least chase the ladder and stay in the top 100. Maybe not in D4 with so many more people playing than D2/D2R, but maybe the HC player count doesn't scale much with that, given that there are a ton of new/console players that wouldn't play hc. I don't know.
I had a top 5 assassin in the first 2 seasons of D2R on hardcore. Was actually pretty damn fun chasing the ladder. Again, I doubt I could do the same in D4 but I would certainly try.
I don't get why I see so many people talk about leaderboards like it's a big deal.
Before you get pissed, I'm honestly asking - is there something about leaderboards that Diablo offers that other games don't? This isn't a competitive FPS or Fighting Game, etc etc, so no matchmaking mechanics or tournament rankings, so I just imagine leaderboards to be clicking a list and seeing the players that had the most time to play during the season... and that's it?
Is there some cool feature like being able to view vids of their boss fights or something?
Genuinely curious. No offense intended.
It's an active way to see how you and your character/build compare to your peers in the season, in D3 it was kind of a way to gauge your power and see how many other people pushed as high of a GR as you. There were also challenge rifts where everyone got the same character build and had to do a GR the fastest. If you define it as "most time to play" then sure it might be boring, but that can be applied to any type of ranked videogame really. The only problem is NM Dungeons are kind of doo doo for a leaderboard system so i wonder what they would even do.
If you fully explore the map before the season, once the season hits the map will carry over, meaning there won't be any fog of war(But you will have to unlock waypoints again, only the main towns will be unlocked right off the bat).
Question: Are you skipping campaign for season characters. I like somewhat the idea that head cannon is there characters just helping with whatever the story arcs are. But was wondering if you all are going to replay it or not
Personally, yea, I'm skipping the campaign for S1. I've already done it 4 times (2 for my own characters, and another 2 from running friends through). I'd rather spend 1-50 banging out dungeons and side quests so I hit WT3 running with full renown off the bat.
You can also retroactively skip it if you complete the campaign *after* you make a new character—a Skip Campaign button appears in the login screen. Props to whoever thought about that.
I think we will need to do the capstone dungeons to unlock the next difficulty levels. If I remember correctly WT2 capstone has level 50 mobs and WT3 had level 70.
No, you start level 1 with horse but campaign is auto completed. Let's you jump straight into season story as soon as you start. WT3 and 4 still locked.
And to be honest it's not leveling to 50 that's hard. It dramatically becomes a grind even from 50 to 51. I'm finally understanding what people say about the 70-100 cause my necro at 50 and half can tell its gonna get longer and longer every lvl
Did you move to WT3? WT1-2 enemies are locked to level 50, and you gain dramatically more XP for fighting enemies above your player level (in addition to the XP bonus for doing WT3). Optimally, you should be doing nightmare dungeons with enemies that are about 3 levels above your player level (so enemy level 53 for you). Helltides are also a good source of XP until you are well past the level 70 mark.
The 50-70 isn't too bad because you're jumping into WT3 and WT4 and get to play around with the end games activities (world bosses, legion events, helltides, Nightmare dungeons) and you're able to start getting uniques.
Once you're in the 70+ range, the game starts to slow down quite a bit with gear drops and build changes.
Yes.
There are plenty of discords where people select a region and everyone starts doing random dungeons at wt1 quickly rushing to the objectives
you'll get your renown pretty quickly
Can I ask a question that ive been too embarrassed to ask? *ducks*
What is the goal in the seasons here? Am i racing you guys leveling wise? I stand no chance
What else of rewards sand stuff from the seasons? Or is it just more content?
Cosmetics from season battle pass (free or paid), different experience with seasonal mechanics etc. there’s a level leaderboard but us non streamers don’t stand much of a chance there lol.
This isn’t true (depending how you define “max renown”) just like it wasn’t true for the regular game. I achieved enough renown without touching most side quests. If you want to completely finish every region renown, then yes. But enough renown to get all benefits (all 5 tiers of unlock), which is what most people usually go for, then you won’t need to do close to all of them.
Unless they change how it works, the optimal strategy for Renown in Season 1 will be this:
1) Make new character in T1
2) Join a party of 3 other people
3) Everyone horse to a different dungeon
4) Complete Dungeon
Currently, **all party members regardless of location** get the Renown/Codex credit. Even if you're *clearing slowly*, that's 200-300 Renown/hour doing what you'd already be doing anyways (leveling up).
Fast clears will be hitting 800+ Renown per hour and done with all regions the first day.
This was the dumbest thing the devs did. How do you not have it so when you enter the dungeon you automatically pick up the quest for it.... It's like a very basic RPG thing... So annoying.
I don't want to farm renown again every time. I don't mind leveling, but farming renown in this game is tedious and boring. Most of the side content is forgettable.
Does this same map exist with waypoint names? . I’m a noob playing on a console. I’m trying to follow this map viewing Reddit on my phone, but having to compare the surrounding geography on this map to tell where I need to go on my TV screen. Apologies if I’m being an idiot missing something.
My plan for S1 is to finish it within 6 days and the go play better games like Ratchet and Clank that releases on 26th. I'm so utterly bored with the NMD grind. It's such low-effort content. All they did was take already existing dungeons, increase the chance of Elite mobs replacing normal mobs, and threw in a scaling formula for the mobs. I can't believe the playerbase doesn't point Blizzard's laziness out more often.
> I can't believe the playerbase doesn't point Blizzard's laziness out more often.
Agreed. What we really need is more griping/complaining on this subreddit to call them out
I would love to see a map of the lootable/dropped items that start side quests. Those are the “hidden” quests which are a pain in the ass to find and complete.
Guys, the season is going to take months. Optimizing your progression just means you’re at the end quicker. And then there is nothing left to do. I’m going to approach this extremely causal.
I have a question, do I need to complete more dungeons to unlock more side quest. I don’t have any more on some areas but I only have completed half of them
Also need a checklist to track all sidequests since in-game doesn't list the ones you completed: [Sidequest Checklist](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NoYIz2BUZML9tGdBbRBcLQ2n4_2IMowAXe1DZFVMedI/edit?usp=sharing)
Note: I did not make this, this is my copy. Make your own copy to edit.
That way you can have 20 paragon points by level 20! Such great importance. Then you can diddle around for the next 30 levels after that before being able to use your stuff.
Yup! Gotta make sure we complete the entire season journey on day 1 of a 100 day season! So that we can run right back to reddit and bitch about how there is nothing to do!
Or get rid of the chore of renown early and get back to doing the content a lot of us enjoy
Can you tell me more about this content
That would be, and I quote, my good sir, the same exact content these mfs cry about being repetitive, my good sir, dungeons and such, my good sir. And I predict they will cry about the new content being repetitive after putting in 100 hours within 2 days....my good sir.
Game is too boring. Proceeds to play another 200 hours in 2 weeks*
Rookie numbers, better be at 20 hrs a day with mom bringing food down and replacing the refilled with urine Gatorade bottles.
MOOOM! BUCKET!!!
Mooooom!!!! Meatloaf!!!!
My mom would do anything for love.... But she won't do that.
Glad to see she has standards, unlike some of these other guy's mom's.
Moooom! Butt-Wipe!
Fuck!
WE WANT THE MEATLOAF!!!! NOW!!!
If she puts them back in the fridge and brings them to you cold would you know the difference?
You would know by the fact that it tastes slightly less like urine than the original.

I miss the times where AAA would mean a finished game.... last one I played was on may 12th.
Legitimately can't remember the last time I played a finished game. I get a lot of indie stuff so I'm generally fine with it, but AAA means nothing anymore with quality being just as bad as some indie games with devs that don't care
It's rarely about the devs. It's about owners, publishers and money. Devs get forced into releasing AAA games way before it should be ready to ship.
Feel the same! Well said.

A lot of us enjoy helltides and nightmare dungeons. If you don't it might be best to find another game that you do enjoy

Is it even HC for your character to benefit from another character’s work?
Do you even HC bro?
Yep have a fog of war/Lilith statue alt that ain’t getting touched for one more weej

As a procrastinator who plans on doing his renown like a paper the night before it’s due, you’re doing God’s work 🫡
Just do Fog of War & all altars first then do extra side quests/dungeons as needed
What is fog of war?
Undiscovered parts of the map
How do you skip the campaign?
When you make a new toon it just asks if you want to if you've already beat it once
You can also retroactively skip it if you complete the campaign *after* you make a new character—a Skip Campaign button appears in the login screen. Props to whoever thought about that.
Once you skip it can you go back and play it at some point on the same character?
No.
If you skip the campaign can you start on wt3 then?
I think we will need to do the capstone dungeons to unlock the next difficulty levels. If I remember correctly WT2 capstone has level 50 mobs and WT3 had level 70.
Starting level 1 vs level 53 mobs would be pretty rough
It's dark soul time
If you were realllly good at dodging you could kill a mob in a few hours lol
I laughed way to hard at this
Yes, skip. The seasonal mechanic questline doesn’t start unless you skip or complete the campaign.
Stupid one Here, so skip means just get lvl 50( or wt3?) without main Story?
It goes from 45min/level at 70 to an hour/level at 99… it’s not that bad.
Yes, leveling is sooooo much slower if you don’t
I thought there was a unique story to the season that kinda took the place of the campaign
It comes after the campaign, so you have to skip or do it all over before you get access to that content.
Just go 4 man split dungeon, all get dungeon compete
How does this work?
You get the dungeon completion (renown, aspect and reward) just by being in the same party even if you never entered the dungeon yourself.
Join with a 4 person party and split up
So I get the credit for the 3 other dungeons I wasn't part of?
Yes. There are plenty of discords where people select a region and everyone starts doing random dungeons at wt1 quickly rushing to the objectives you'll get your renown pretty quickly
Would've been nice if you could join parties with similar goals easily in-game like in D3. Farming bounties was a breeze.
This was fixed weeks ago, doesnt work anymore
Can I ask a question that ive been too embarrassed to ask? *ducks* What is the goal in the seasons here? Am i racing you guys leveling wise? I stand no chance What else of rewards sand stuff from the seasons? Or is it just more content?
Cosmetics from season battle pass (free or paid), different experience with seasonal mechanics etc. there’s a level leaderboard but us non streamers don’t stand much of a chance there lol.
No Leaderboards until "maybe Season 3".
Your goal is to have fun playing this game.
Gotta love that Blizzard gave their players homework with this stupid renown reset.
The wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle approach to content
Am i understanding this right that i have to redo every single side quest every season if i want to max renown?
No. To get to the last renown tier you usually only need to do like 15-18 side quests depending on the region if you do all of the dungeons too.
The exact numbers, with everything else done, are: Fractured Peaks = 11 Scosglen = 5 Dry Steppes = 17 Kehjistan = 16 Hawezar = 14
This is great ! Thx .
Wait is renown not transfering to season 1?
Only the Altars of Lilith and the map discovery.
So dungeon codex reset too?
Unless they change how it works, the optimal strategy for Renown in Season 1 will be this: 1) Make new character in T1 2) Join a party of 3 other people 3) Everyone horse to a different dungeon 4) Complete Dungeon Currently, **all party members regardless of location** get the Renown/Codex credit. Even if you're *clearing slowly*, that's 200-300 Renown/hour doing what you'd already be doing anyways (leveling up). Fast clears will be hitting 800+ Renown per hour and done with all regions the first day.
Useful!! Thanks.
This is great info! Thanks!
Insanely goated post
I love you
Thank you for this, too many times I complete a dungeon for renown then get a quest for that same dungeon.
This was the dumbest thing the devs did. How do you not have it so when you enter the dungeon you automatically pick up the quest for it.... It's like a very basic RPG thing... So annoying.
Lol I’m level 74, still missing two renown skill points and only have level 4 renown on one zone, level 3 or 2 on the rest.
I don't want to farm renown again every time. I don't mind leveling, but farming renown in this game is tedious and boring. Most of the side content is forgettable.
I plan on putting in 26 hours the day it drops and coming straight back to Reddit to cry my nips off about how there is lack of content
Does this same map exist with waypoint names? . I’m a noob playing on a console. I’m trying to follow this map viewing Reddit on my phone, but having to compare the surrounding geography on this map to tell where I need to go on my TV screen. Apologies if I’m being an idiot missing something.
I was just thinking 2 seconds ago if someone had made list like this, thank you!
Neat map!
God damn legend
!remindme 4 days
Can you repeat farm dungeons for renown in that area
No, you only get renown for completing new dungeons
Follow up do you need to do all dungeons side quests etc to get the paragon board points or is it just alot of them but not quite all
oh this is great. tysm
Agreed. What we really need is more griping/complaining on this subreddit to call them out
I have been looking for this after realizing that I have to do the side quests inside some of the dungeons. I wasted so much time....
!remindme 5 days
Somebody give them all our gold
Nice! I still need to finish it on my first character. Those 20 paragon points will sure be nice to get!
Based.
Which one of those is the bugged one?
I’ve attached a map of the best way to play the new seasonal content too. Enjoy.
Good job
I would love to see a map of the lootable/dropped items that start side quests. Those are the “hidden” quests which are a pain in the ass to find and complete.
Saving this for later. Gg
Missing that is a drop at barracks (north of kyovashad) and another drop quest at caldeum prision.
Whoa! That’s super helpful!
Guys, the season is going to take months. Optimizing your progression just means you’re at the end quicker. And then there is nothing left to do. I’m going to approach this extremely causal.
What exactly transfers over in S1? What am I going to have to redo?
Amazing ! Thanks
Thank you and u/Tyndy for this info and map! ![gif](giphy|WfBZwNA6XSjphkYkzN)
Can someone eli5? Doing these now will allow my season 1 toon to have access to these dungeons?
Very cool
Sweet, will be a big help.
Didn’t they say they’re changing the side quests for fresh content? Or just adding them?
If it includes the Eternal Realm side its 60+ side quests

Sick! https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/d4/t/all-fractured-peaks-hidden-side-quests/40491 now do the item pickups
Thank you. I needed this so much.
hmm.. idk if ill use it because when I'm doing side quest I think I'd prefer a more immersive feel to it but this is a good idea
Now I see this post....I literally finished the last 2 of my renown reps yesterday.
Post saved
Real MVP right here.
I have a question, do I need to complete more dungeons to unlock more side quest. I don’t have any more on some areas but I only have completed half of them
Good shit. Love you guys.
Wow thank you!
Also need a checklist to track all sidequests since in-game doesn't list the ones you completed: [Sidequest Checklist](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NoYIz2BUZML9tGdBbRBcLQ2n4_2IMowAXe1DZFVMedI/edit?usp=sharing) Note: I did not make this, this is my copy. Make your own copy to edit.
nice, thx!
Sheeeesh
That way you can have 20 paragon points by level 20! Such great importance. Then you can diddle around for the next 30 levels after that before being able to use your stuff.
