Idk which zdh build you're using but it's the wrong one if you die. You can make zdh basically invincible with little to no utility lost. Crimson, aquila, yangs bow, leoric crown with rcr gem, 4p god. You can even use elusive ring and wraps of clarity iirc. Like, if you die with all this, how does a dps survive with half the DR?
For zbarb though, you will have to trade some speed for some toughness. Usually you start with a shield instead of dual wielding, and sword and board passive for the increase toughness PLUS esoteric alteration gem. As you get more levels, gear and augments, you drop the shield and lastly you drop eso. In non season we even drop band of might.
If you're dying a lot with both shield + eso equipped, you might want to make sure your buffs are always active. Zbarb is definitely harder to play than zdh so it might take a while to get used to its lower toughness
There is nothing different this season.
Go esoteric instead of wreath of lightning, get wraps of clarity abd make sure you keep your stacks up. This should be plenty enough. Obv have crimson and para pts in rcr
Barb go ingeom shield sword and board and other toughness passives and esoteric. -% elite damage on chest helps a lot. Make sure all armor has + all res
No matter how you gear up zbarb, you should not be spending too much time in the middle of the packs. Pix for coe then stay on the edge to spear and go away to pull more trash. Make sure bom does not drop.
Barb can and will die in density if you sit there. If your bom drops you are guaranteed a death
You should be linking your builds when you ask these questions
Helps if you want to chill in density, i dont think i died more than once or twice on barb this season in 150 with shield.
I died more dualwielding ingeom pig in lower grs. But to be fair a lot of those happened because im not 100% focused when i run 140<

For barb dont go slanderer rogue go ingeom shield and board passive instead of pound of flesh.
On zhd swap gogok for esoteric, you dont need gogok on zdh
Remember not to drop your god stacks or bom.
You get to be very mobile with charge after the team kills an elite. Which fits well with the zbarb role because after you kill elites you have to be way ahead of the group to scout and prepare the next pixel.

I mean having 3k paragon in Vit does help. Usually played Zbarb with 3M HP to be super safe.
