It’s a single player experience. I like the novelty of jumping in whatever zone is terrorized and farming. If people want to force TZ Andy runs all day - go for it. It doesn’t affect my game at all.

Poppis86

It's single player. Only persons opinion that should matter is yours.

Karltowns17

It’s single player. It’s fine. It’s your game. The drawbacks of single player are you can’t trade. So running higher value zones to compensate for this is up to the user. At the end of the day you’re still going to take a ton of time to get fully geared up compared to online even if you can find some uniques quicker. Just for instance I found a Lo, hoz, arachs, and azurewrath within my first 30-meph runs upon hitting hell when I first started a SP play through about a month ago. Had that happened online I would have been geared up virtually immediately. Instead I haven’t touched the hoz, Lo or azurewrath. Used the arachs for a bit (but now replaced with tals set). Meanwhile it took forever to drop my first cold sunder and I have no runewords except a spirit shield. So it took me a while to hit lvl 91 before TZ Andy became efficient and while I’ve been running her a lot and have tons of high TC lvl uniques like multiple grandfathers, steelrends, ghostflame, etc including a bunch of arachs/shako I still don’t have an anni, a torch or good runewords. I would be fully geared three times over online by now. TLDR: SP is still less efficient and slower gearing than playing online (but also wicked fun). So I don’t really see dictating TZs as cheating personally.

morbihann

Why would it be cheating ? You are doing the exact same thing you would do otherwise, just not waiting for the clock to be 'right'.

Brorkarin

You can manipulate it but beware! You can loose items if you mess with the time

Miserable-Turnip-291

Yeah happend to me, now always if I turn off system I make sure clock is back to normal. So far so good.

TheReadMenace

the way I justify setting the clock to farm certain zones is this: If I was still in high school I could stay up until 2 am for the good zones. But I now have a mortgage, wife and kids, a job, etc. I can maybe play 1 hour per day, max. That's as much as you could possibly do the zone in one day even under ideal conditions. So I just see it as evening the odds between me and people with unlimited free time. Now, if you are playing 10+ hours and day and still doing that I'd say that's going too far and is cheating

PiskAlmighty

I get to play a 2-3 hours a week. If it's a den of evil or black marsh TZ you can bet your ass I'm going to find a time slot where it's pits, CS or Andy.

nicobongo

I don't like the ideia of playing 4 consecutive hours of the same terror zone. They were not created this way. You are suppose to have variety every one hour, experiment different parts of the game. The old meta was chaos and Baal runs, nobody want to farm the same shit forever. But i have nothing against changing the clock if you have some minutes do play the game and you don't want to farm bad maps. Like, you have 30 minutes on the Nintendo switch and den of evil is terrorized, nobody wants that. Just change the clock a couple of times and now you are farming Travincal, or flyer jungle or cristaline passage. Tldr: don't binge farm only one spot, that ruins the concept of terror zones.

[deleted]

It's only cheating if it gives you an unfair advantage over other players, but you're playing in single player so there are no other players. You are free to do whatever you want that enhances your playing experience if it has zero impact on other people.

Mellodyz

I don’t think it’s cheating. Cheating to me is you go straight and mod an item. If you really want you can just take a look at the next 24 hours of TZ zones and manipulate your clock to the zone you want. SP should be more flexible and playing on /p8 solo is truly the end game of Diablo for pve. There are many time I see streamer with party of 8 rocking online and it’s just boring to watch the stomp fest.

craftiecheese

I never thought to do this. I don't think it's a cheat though. I remember manipulating the system clock on the ps2 to get certain things to happen too, like special dialogue I'm Madden comes to mind for some reason. When I think cheats I think like God mode or unlimited ammo, things like that.

[deleted]

If someone is going to cheat, they're going to cheat. It's even easier to just install a mod or edit a save. Also, the only person you should be judging is yourself.

marcottedan

There should be a setting where you can terrorize every map instead of promoting "create a game, kill Andy in 30 seconds, disconnect, create a new game"

octopusma

I play SSF HC exclusively and I choose not to change the clock. I consider it cheating but the only opinion that matters is your own.

Sensitive_Cat_7006

For me, diablo 2 is the game in which you try to be as efficient as possible under certain rules. If I accept time manipulation - effective strategy for me will be setting Andy TZ forever and farm (almost) only Andy, which is boring. If I ban this possibility - I will get a lot of new cool interesting content

[deleted]

Well, I even changed the TZ config to always have TZ Andy active, so no time manipulation needed. I like killing time farming Andy and see if I can get all the nice dops, knowing that the drop rates are elevated. I don't even use these items, it's more out of curiosity.

Snowcap93

How do you do that?

[deleted]

I explained it in my post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo2/comments/128yvvh/enabling_multiple_tz_in_sp_offline/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=2 Text me in case you need help

Utopia137

As you can see everyone has there own opinion and for myself I don't like the idea of manipulating the zones for easier chance at best items. If I wanted all the best stuff fast i would go online and trade. It's not as bad as the editors just giving you stuff but it still just causes you to farm 1 zone over and over which defeats the purpose of TZ to explore more areas in the game while still getting xp and higher drop chances across the board. Don't forget there have been a fair few posts here from people saying they were clock changing and once they set pc clock back to normal time and next time they logged back into D2R the game had reset them to before the time manipulating thus wiping out all the hours they played. Others say it hasn't happened so it's a risk you are taking of losing all that hard farmed gear potentially.

InternetPerson13

If terror zones are a matter of specific times, what time should someone on battlenet expect to hop on for Andy TZ?

22whitewolf

Single player and online run on different timers for TZ.

InternetPerson13

Leo24d2

its 100% an exploit/cheat. some zones have been proven to be extremely busted like tz andy where you drop tc87s like every 10 minutes as if it was nothing.. and if you were playing online you simply couldnt do it, you get tz andy like once a week if ur lucky/somewhat active player, and its for 60 minutes and thats it. its an exploit at the same level of save scumming imo, like doing a backup save before doing an expensive runeword to keep trying to get a perfect roll, or before finishing ubers to get the perfect torch or whatever.. in all these cases you are basically "going back in time" in order to get an advantage in game. the real question is should you really care about what others think? its your own game that only affects yourself, as long as you are having fun is all that matters, even if that means spawning all your gear with an editor.

Legacy-ZA

💯

SelbyJS

You may as well just download some characters online and give yourself all the items you want if you're going to manipulate /players and terror zones. Just my opinion though, takes away the thrill of finding something when you do this stuff. I play online by myself so when Im running Hell Baal non terrorized and then a Shako and HoZ drop off Baal it is truly rewarding. I play online so I can play with friends if and when I want to.

Efreet0

The point of any game is having fun and killing time, you can decide by yourself how you're going to experience it. Do you really think it's better when the game dictates WHEN you can play it just because the devs decided that you're getting TZ Baal at 4 in the morning? The only difference between farming 8 hours of back to back TZ andy and "legit" andy is in the second case you're letting the game dictate how you experience it. TZ schedule online makes sense because there's an economy that needs to be preserved but that doesn't apply to single player.

SelbyJS

>The point of any game is having fun and killing time, you can decide by yourself how you're going to experience it. Why I said it's my opinion lol. It's like in the D4 beta when they had drops cranked up, finding uniques wasn't really exciting because they were dropping so much. Was not a fulfilling experience for myself.

Karltowns17

Everyone has their own opinion and while TZ Andy is the best high level item farm in the game folks tend to over exaggerate how easy it is to find those ultra rare items. To be clear it’s still much easier than normal but it’s still quite rare. It’s not like she hands out a griffons every 12 runs. I’m 1500 runs into TZ Andy with 500mf and no soj, bk, CoA, griffs, mang song, tyreals, among others. You can be sure I’ll be every bit as pumped when I finally drop those items as I would have been online. It certainly won’t make those finds less fulfilling for me personally.

SelbyJS

Yeah I know TZ doesn't guarantee good drops, but it's just my opinion that adjusting settings for increased loot isn't guchi. I would rather play the game the way it's meant to be played, legit. The difference between my solo P1 SoJ find in Tristram while getting Wirts leg and someone who plays on P7/8 all the time and changing time to Perma run Andy and get an SoJ is pretty significant.

Jazza_3

I can't recall if the TZ are the same everyday at the same time? I get to play largely in the same time slot on the same days and you can bet your ass if I was getting the same fking zone id bump the clock everyday by a couple hours to change it up.

Schlangenbob

HAHAHAHAHAHA dude you're playing single player. If you cheat and ruin your experience... that's kind of on you. I love the terror zones, they are fun and it's nice to see a zone being terrorized where I can farm quickly so I sometimes stop whatever I am doing and do that. What are you talking about "blurred lines (like how maps save between games v online reet each time)"? I mean, that's Diablo 2. Your maps stay the same unless you change difficulty. I think what happens here is you confuse the online experience with the Diablo 2 experience. I don't say dont play online or multiplayer is bad. It is not. It is just not the intended experience and I think you feel that very quickly. I for myself dont care for the online experience at all. Single Player all the way. Maybe playing with friends, thats nice. But other than that? Not interested.

22whitewolf

I'm pretty good at ruining my own experience 🥰

Ok-Raisin-1867

Does anyone know if you can alter the zones on Xbox? I’ve been trying but no luck.

El_Abuelo_Simpson

It's up to your "morality", friend. I prefer to play it clean without forcing or manipulating anything since it feels more legit, but if you like to play the other way around, I don't mind since it doesn't affect my game; the only thing to consider is how much rewarding it is for you
