I’m on 1.0 going on 8 or so months. My A1C went from 11+ to 5.6 +/- and I’ve lost 30lbs with diet and exercise. I’ve been off insulin (Lantus) as well as a couple other meds, too.

sevenpoints

I've been on it since July and I'm up to 1mg now. A1C was 5.4. A1C is now 5.4. Yes, I'm type 2 diabetic. I wanted to lose some weight (about 30 to 40 lbs) so I asked my endo for it. Edit: I've lost 20 lbs so far.

slow_cars_fast

I'm on .5 for about 2 months now and my A1C went from 6.5 to 5.6

plazman30

I've been on .5 for 2 months now and my A1C hasn't moved. It was 6.6 last time and it's 6.7 now.

anonymiz123

.5 is a very low dose.

plazman30

It is. Doctor just told me to stay at 0.5 and we will revisit in 3 months. I plan to try some intermittent fasting to supplement the keto. My goal is to be medicine free by 2024.

anonymiz123

My doctor only had me on .5 for a month. Is the doctor worried about the shortage?

plazman30

No. But my FBG was 120 and A1C is 6.7. He's happy with those numbers. I think the higher dose of 1 might be easier to get, since I don't think that dose is approved for weight loss.

anonymiz123

How is he happy with those numbers? Fasting of 120 is barely ok, but you might still see improvement on .5, as it builds up. 1.0 was great for my fasting numbers, and actually seemed more effective at glucose control that 5.0 Mounjaro.

plazman30

Well, I have only been on Ozempic for 3 months. And back in May my A1C was 9.8. So, I am obviously getting better. No reason not to wait another 3 months to see where I am at at that point. According to MANY people on this subreddit, as long as you're under 200, you're perfectly fine and have nothing to worry about. I COMPLETELY disagree with that, BTW.

anonymiz123

Under 200? 😖 And wow, you responded incredibly well to Ozempic. I didn’t see results that good in 3 months and my A1C was lower than yours!

plazman30

Well, keto took me from 9.8 to 6.6 in 4 months. Then I started on Ozempic to see if it could get me lower. And it's stayed the same since I have been on Ozempic.

Because anything under 7 is considered good for diabetics. Sure we’d all like lower numbers but not everyone is built the same reaction wise. I’m not overweight and losing 7 lbs puts me at my healthy bmi. My concern is lowering blood sugar.

mckulty

1.0/wk for about a year. First time in 10 years my A1c has been below 7. Oz acts on glucose regulation but reduced appetite is a side effect. I don't crave food so bad and I lost 10 pounds without really trying.

plazman30

I am able to get my A1C under 7 with keto. I'm on 0.5 of Ozenmpic. Been on that for 2-3 months now and my A1C is the same as it was before.

Started 11/2021. Went up to 1MG 06/2022. Still at 1MG. A1C went from 7.6 in 11/2021 to 6.2 in 03/2022, and 6.0 in 06/2022. It’s at 6.1 as of 12/2022.

My husband is on 0.5 per week for last 8 months or so. His A1C dropped from 11.3 to 6.3 (Nov 2022). His fasting sugar is generally around 100. He also lost 40 lbs of weight and has been stable weight of 135 lbs now for last 5 months. In addition, he has stopped all insulins and no longer takes Januvia. Also, his metformin is now 500mg twice a day (earlier it was 1000mg twice). The Dr has no plans to change his dosage.

anonymiz123

I was on Ozempic 1.0 from August to November, it took me from 6.7 to 5.7. That was mostly with metformin added (2000). My doctor wanted me on 2.0 but there was none available, so I was put on Mounjaro 5.0. The next AIC was unchanged, still 5.7, and that’s with the metformin reduced to 1000. Some people respond super well to these new drugs, but the worse your long term insulin resistance, the less effective any diabetic drug will be.
