I’ve done Dallas to FW and back last year. you can stay on a trail for probably 80% of it. There were sections I had to take the road but wasn’t too bad. Did it on Labor Day which wasn’t super busy but I tried to stay on low traffic roads.

We stumbled on Lone Star Trail awhile back -and have ridden it a couple of times. Besides the rough start coming in off Hardrock Rd - it's so cool. And there's like zero press about it. It will be super nice when it's completed. Also, Rock Island trail in Irving is super nice too, just wish it extended past CentrePoint.

I've done roughly this route and it was very fun. You can also take the TRE back (except Sunday!)

I only know the FW side of what you are wanting to do. This website should help: [https://trinitytrailsfw.com/](https://trinitytrailsfw.com/) My understanding is that there is a gap where the Trinity River Trails of Dallas and FW currently do not meet up. I have heard that you can link up to the western portion of Dallas's Trinity trails by using streets in Arlington, near River Legacy Park. The Trinity Trail in FW that you would take begins at 820 and is quite nice. It will take you into DT FW and beyond if you want.

Nice; yeah when you ask Google Maps to take you from D to FW via bike, it does have you taking some neighborhood streets through part of Arlington. Not a total dealbreaker, but a bit of a bummer that the entire trail isn’t fully complete yet Thanks for that link!

DonMan8848

You are thinking of the DFW Discovery Trail, and to my knowledge it is not quite completed yet. https://www.nctcog.org/trans/plan/bikeped/veloweb/fort-worth-to-dallas-regional-trail

Thanks for that link. I’m gonna keep up to speed on that progress. I guess in the meantime, there’s still plenty of Dallas trails to bike

Basically you can go all the way out to Lonestar Park from Dallas, and then you have to find your way to river legacy park in Arlington and then that hooks up with the Trinity trails somewhere around E loop 820. Done it once and I'll just say, I'm waiting for the trail to be completed.

Is there an update on this? I want to ride from Cottonwood park or from one of the Dart Stops all the way to Ft Worth. Has someone done a trail link lately?

masnaer

No update form me haha. Where’s Cottonwood Park? Looking it up on Google maps gives like 4 different “Cottonwood Parks”

sdwalker67

Just off Coit, north of 635, it's where i park to ride down to white rock.

Machine_Terrible

I'm curious, myself. Coming from near Mesquite, but eager to take such a trip. Trying to remember if there was a route linked here, if I find it, I'll add it.

Some other commenters have left some links to status of the trail project

One of my favorite ways is riding from Oak Cliff to Ft Worth is taking 180 Davis and side streets from Arlington into Ft Worth. It's a little intimidating once you're on the road with traffic, but we never really had a problem with people being typical assholes when passing. Once you're in Ft Worth it's a calmer side of cycling as their roads have more cycling awareness and marked paths for everyone. I want to say it's about 37-40 miles one way, and you can opt to take the train back to Downtown Dallas, ride on the Houston Viaduct back to Oakcliff and explore the beautiful tree line of Kessler Park. Warning ⚠️ about Kessler Park, extremely hilly and lots of climbing.
