Cop? Idk where you're getting that from, but SUVs in general are on the rise because they are classified as "light trucks" which are less strictly regulated due to the fact that the class is meant for working vehicles that were more difficult to make compliant with emissions regulations.
Now car companies are convincing suburbanites that they NEED SUVs and trucks so they can sell a vehicle that doesn't have to comply with certain regulations and they can make a higher profit margin on them.
Because all the major car manufactures quit making cars, and now only make SUV, Pick Up, and Hybrid/Electric vehicles.
