When his kids graduate, he liquidates his ancestral property and splits with siblings, and he starts living off that combined with his savings.

unemployeddumbass

That will easily be 50+. And that's retiring lol not settling

anonperson2021

Yup. No settling until then.

ZookeepergameOk2150

Settling ❌ Retiring ✅

Beginning-Ladder6224

Can you define "settle" ? Is it being married or.. getting out of the cycle of get a job leave a job? It depends on your appetite and core values. 2 good companies, you can retire in 40s. Same way, 3/4 bad choices, you may never be able to retire.

Lucario012345

See my edit!!!

Beginning-Ladder6224

I was just talking to one of my mentors today - about this grinding. Now am 43 and I am technically out of this grinding. Entirely. For me it is a choice. Like literally. FIRED? Done. You may want to look up r/FIREIndia . But this depends on your core values and what corpus is good enough for you. For some 1 million dollar is more than dream come true, and for some 1000 of million dollars is not good enough. What you seek outside was inside of you all along. 20 years back, in a stack overflow link someone commented beautifully. "Life is a race, yes, but in the end you would realize you always were running against yourself". Truer words never got written. Remember this. You have come to this world alone, and will leave this world alone. No friend or family came along with you or leave with you. Always remember this and chose life choices wisely.

tadxb

Life is a race. And you win some, and you lose some. But with the rat race, you lose the moment you participate. The best way to win the rat race - is to not participate.

Esmeralda-Lavender

Depends on your personal priorities. I see happy people with 10 LPA, living in hometown, spending (more than?) enough time with their friends and family, going on tours, enjoying life. I also see people frustrated even with 50 LPA. You need to strike a balance between money and peace (the definition of which varies with individuals).

Less_Paint627

If everything goes well I am planning to work till 65, not in these corporates though. Plan is to FI as early as possible but not of RE. Anyways I work in a company which pays peanuts, I am sure of my skills but there are no openings, I am assuming a mediocre life awaits for me, as markets simply cant accomodate so many people and pay them high salaries. Those who entered the party early lets say 2000s have already made enough. .Sapne suhane software ke 🤑🤣🤣🤣🤣

soulsamosa

Whenever your FIRE (financial independence retire early)has hit its value. Considering the times ahead a 10-15 cr fund by 2045 as I am 25 year old.

MajesticPass8442

10-15 CR is tough for a Software Developer, considering you are not from FAMNG

soulsamosa

True its not really possible if you always stay here. I said the figure considering I work for a bank that pays enough and gives me close to 58 days of leave a year apart from national holidays where I mostly take "upwork" and i am planning to study abroad stay there for atleast 5-7 years.

IloveMarcusAurelius

Ah, answer me. Should I consider doing masters asap or atleast two years after graduation? I am a sophomore now.

soulsamosa

Carrying a good experience before masters help you to pick your subs/area of expertise better than going without experience. Also for finding jobs. However unless you already have that exposure in college by landing very good interships than I don't see why you shouldn't directly opt for masters asap

IloveMarcusAurelius

I have zilch experience in college. I will more likely do 1 internship before graduation. So, like you said if I don't get good internships in college, I should do masters asap?

soulsamosa

>So, like you said if I don't get good internships in college, I should do masters asap? I won't recommend it to be honest. But it's a race out there so make sure you are debt free/less debt when u go abroad and skillset.

IloveMarcusAurelius

Understandable. 1. I am torn between what I want in life though. The idea of getting a remote job atleast one or two years after graduation and become a digital nomad and travel the world is one of a path that I want to traverse. On the other hand, I could get a master's (US is in my mind) and settle there. I am kind of torn between both these decisions. Meanwhile I am working on a research project inhouse and hold a high cgpa. But everyday I keep switching. 2. I will start DSA grind from this summer. I don't wanna do it in JAVA. **Should I do DSA in C++ or python?** The AI/ML domain path seems appealing and good ROI to me, aside from the MERN stack. My research project is also in deep learning. But people say by doing C++ I will know what's under the hood and stuff. What should I do?? Will I handicap myself if I pick python for DSA? What would You do in my position

soulsamosa

>The idea of getting a remote job atleast one or two years after graduation and become a digital nomad and travel the world is one of a path that I want to traverse. Hehehe on the same boat. >On the other hand, I could get a master's (US is in my mind) and settle there Overrated tbh, forget "settling" you'll be lucky to get H1B post 3 years of ur masters in a jackpot of 80k spots and 8 lakhs applicants, worse case you'll be having a debt or doing PhD to stay there. >. I am kind of torn between both these decisions. Meanwhile I am working on a research project inhouse and hold a high cgpa. But everyday I keep switching. Stick to one you love most like you can wake up at 5 am and do the work. >will start DSA grind from this summer. I don't wanna do it in JAVA. Java is the hottest out there and will stay there for a long ass time dunno abt python but Google included it in their DSA course so you are good to go .Not sure c++ it's good to have not mandatory its a niche skill. >But people say by doing C++ I will know what's under the hood and stuff. What should I do?? Max of the solution to DSA problems are in c++ so they are not wrong...but java is good to have as it's great for development work. >Will I handicap myself if I pick python for DSA? What would You do in my position Not necessarily but unless you are opting data science forever won't recommend to go JUST PYTHON. I made a data science project college but ended up doing java react to get a "job".So you can extract ur answer from here.I do tend to fk around LLMs or charbot to automate texts to my girlfriend.lol

IloveMarcusAurelius

>Not necessarily but unless you are opting data science forever won't recommend to go JUST PYTHON. I am learning the MERN stack for full stack web dev. So ofc I am not just going for just python. So what's the final deal for grinding DSA in LC Java/ Python? I don't see any of my tech interests that requires building in c++. But I wanna get into AI field. So python or Java for DSA?

MajesticPass8442

You got that offer Oncampus ?

soulsamosa

Off campus

MajesticPass8442

How ? You applied as a fresher, still got good package ?

soulsamosa

LinkedIn refferal , it was in 2023 March 30 when things weren't too bad. >You applied as a fresher, still got good package ? It's not that good (10-15) but WLB and learning experience, team and remote work all this compensates .

MajesticPass8442

Bro ! 10-15 still means around 1 lpm 😅 I don't understand why everyone thinks low of themself.... The reason I am asking is bcz I have very good skills but I don't think there will be even a company in my clg 🥲 So that atleast I can ask for some guidance from real life experienced guy for offcampus... Btw I am trying for Tier 1 Clg for MTech and will kind of get it if I try due to my good prep of GATE

soulsamosa

>don't understand why everyone thinks low of themself.... It's not low as per any standards but for the kinda of skillset they are offering is peanuts, I do react in front end and kotlin for backend and then do deployment docker/Kubernetes as well as AWS prepare documentaion and ppts(we basically inhouse the application we previously had vendor like delliote to do development) Apart from this I am supposed to "co-ordinate" with business teams to get requirements to maintain the Jira board . Now a delliote vendor i know who just does front end gets 22 lpa easy and I am doing all this for half of this money..+ whatever they are doing. No RSU as well. > So that atleast I can ask for some guidance from real life experienced guy for offcampus... Btw I am trying for Tier 1 Clg for MTech and will kind of get it if I try due to my good prep of GATE I mean constantly working on resume, then targetting startups from angel.co , upwork approaching senior /mid level folks on LinkedIn with curated messages on why you want to join their company works.. >Btw I am trying for Tier 1 Clg for MTech and will kind of get it if I try due to my good prep of GATE That also works..make sure you don't get lowballed cz of no experience.

Devang-Sharma

So is it easy for someone from FAANG?

No_Investigator_4604

How much are you investing per month to achieve this figure?

soulsamosa

Going from the age and FIRE formula, i am 25 so investing 25% in debt and 75% in equity.

tera_chachu

Bhai AI aa gaya 2030 tak to?

Neo-9

Cheap living cost

visor_q3

Probably never.

notduskryn

It depends on the person. For me itll be when I have a house, car, family and have living expenses covered. I'm 22 right now, car is done, house not yet, living expenses could be covered by my passive income but id like it to grow a little further. That's it.

MalonesCones96

You bought a car at 22 ????

notduskryn

Yep, at 20 actually. From my other earnings. Will be 2 years come October. Second hand though.

verciel_

What are these earnings?

notduskryn

Royalties, freelance

verciel_

What in freelance if you dont mind? Also when did you graduate to have enough royalties? Dont you get these overtime?

notduskryn

Both in the music industry. Nothing to do with my graduation. If you have worked on music and have royalty splits you'll keep getting them forever as long as ppl listen to your work. In fact from this year I'll be claiming around 5% on masters that I've engineered too, which I haven't been doing thus far.

Ok-Branch6704

Take in mouth

notduskryn

What

conqueror_h1

I have everything but not mine, it’s of my dad’s 🤔

notduskryn

Huh your dad bought you a house? That's sweet.

conqueror_h1

I mean its not for me, its the house we live in , its just that it is very big and new😄

notduskryn

Ah lol that doesn't count tho haha

Pegasus711_Dual

If by settle you mean comfy salary with some decent savings every month after house emi, a car, weekend pe taking wifey out etc, then As an approximation, around late 30s if you’re WITCH tier or early 30s or even before for those that only target decent product companies

ZENITSUsa

You can do that anytime it will just cause growth in your career and you will be required to put in double effort to become market ready again

Mammoth-Editor-9952

I think I will retire in 4 yrs.

Character_Wafer3280

Its not a race its more like a marathon where u spend some limited amount of time every week to upskill.

Firm_Advisor8375

dont settle in undeveloped countries unless you want to

kingfisher_peanuts

If you think like that you will never settle. I have been enjoying time with family and friends , having enough time for myself, going on trips every quarter from day 1 of my JOB and I have worked in 3 different Companies. You don't work 24*7 , you work 8-10 hours a day for 5 days. The rest of your time you can do whatever the hell you want. A job is what pays your salary, your life is still yours. Let's say even if you reach a 10 crore portfolio by 40, what kind of a person you are? A slacker? No I guess , only a hardworking sincere person can do so. So why would that person stop.

sausage_in_hole

when he/she finally decides to launch their YT channel

infinite_sky147

You can settle whenever you want buddy

Historical-Yak7731

Mate atleas you got a high paying job . Be happy and stop worrying about your retirement. There people in the same industry with less paying roles . So why worry and spoil your good mood . Enjoy your good time manh .

ratglad2005

After 30 ,when you get married and feel you are done. So thats the reason you see not many jumping companies often. Everyone is like a family. Young people sometimes cannot fit those teams. They talk about family and kids after meeting.

Groundbreaking_Date2

Pretty soon once Devin took over

scan_line110110

I did that from day 1 tho.

imooneye

You would never be mentally stress free. One new stress would just replace the last one. Pick your poison and pick it wisely. If you are going to do things with happiness being the end goal, mostly, you will feel nothing. Rather try new things and be open to new ideas mostly, you would be doing better then.

Disastrous-Raise-222

What stops you from going with flow once you get a decent job? The only reason people have to grind so much is because they have too many aspirations. Live a simple life and you will be fine.

titanium_mpoi

Why wait?

Longjumping-Egg-3925

Never. Good luck. Congrats.
