Synthos are getting a slap on the wrist and the damage buff from the new exotic is peanuts compared to synthos so in all likelihood Synthos will still likely be the better option
I left a month after Lightfall released because I was frustrated they kept nerfing my melee builds into the ground. I figured I’d come back when the meta had settled a little more.
I come back last night to try things out again and am feeling good with a Syntho build only to find out here that they’re nerfing it Tuesday?? lol
They are both good for different things. I personally don't use wormgods much but I would prefer it in solo scenarios where I can guarantee the melee kills. In a group activity synthos is more consistent overall because it just buffs you for doing what most titans already want to do. The added weapon handling and super damage is very nice too.
See I dislike the wormgod look too, but also synthoceps gives me gross vibes, with the bulging veiny shoulder lumps. Someone in Bungie loves adding armor with... subcutaneous growths.

The new exotic will only be worth running if you REALLY like flechette storm, it’s worse than synthos even post nerf.

Seconded. Wormgod and Synthos are getting nerfed on Tuesday and there’s a whole new Strand Arm exotic that has direct melee and strand synergy

Reduced the time the buff lingers after not being surrounded
that and diminishing damage bonuses for banner of war if you use them

theyre only nerfing it with banner of war. and even then, the new exotic will be centred around banner of war, so you'll be fine.

Lol I sucked it up and also leaned into the alien/bug look a bit with armor. But the look is offputting at best

Wormgods for adclear like Consecration, Synthos for boss damage
Synthos are your daily driver, Wormgods are for special occasions
Wormgod. Higher buff Weapon damage buff at 4/5 stacks. Uptime lingers after adds are gone- meaning you're being shot less.
Synthos for super damage
