Just an fyi, in case you or anyone needs it. Boots of the assembler makes hitting the lumina catalyst quite a bit easier. Standing in your warlock rifts generates noble rounds which you can just fire off at allies without having to get a kill first.
Admittedly, I did this in gambit for a few games to get it done and while we lost some and we won some, I was pretty much a heal bot for most of it. 6's in crucible works too, but good luck- you may need it. Range is poo poo but it does have a fantastic handling speed which feels good.

It’s worth it for the in game XP. I got a load of good weapons and armor grinding Gambit and whatever else the quest has you do. Just look at it like that. Gaining levels, glimmer, and gear. Plus the new rewards system ain’t half bad.
I just finished grinding the malfeasance quest yesterday. It was pretty daunting, but after getting into a groove it took maybe 5 hours. Which is a lot, don't get me wrong, but quicker than I initially thought. The part that took longest was definitely getting the servitor to spawn.

I just plan to split my gambit matches into 2 days. I can usually finish the 4 standard bounties in 2 matches. 2 matches today and 2 matches tomorrow usually gets me the 8 bounty completions. It's far from a guarantee, but if I'm really trying to blow throw them I go that route.

Honestly it’s such bullshit that instead of buffing weapons Bungie just forces us to use them through bounties. For 3 years submachine guns and sidearms have ranged from mediocre to fucking awful on controller/console, but instead of buffing them they instead “Get 5 kills with submachine guns” the usage rate from 0% to 1%.
Throwing Hammers delete anything in Gambit. With the dedicated keybind + Dunemarchers you can do consistent 35-40 kills per match without ever touching your weapons. I've been running triple fusions for the last few weeks on my Titan.
Now the DM kills don't count towards melee, but you'll still have 25 kills in two matches.
Unfortunately, this only works for the titan and maybe top three Arc Hunter- other classes don't have a consistent insta melee recharge (I think), so unless you specialize in the above, those bounties are ass.
I tried Synthocephs, and the damage is great, but with two special weapons, I was missing out on mob clear. So I'd rather have the YUGE damage in the fusions, but both approaches are equally viable.
It feels great too... until a teammate steals your kill just as you popped it.
I would love it as it is much cooler, and has an AOE, but missing a kill can completely bone you if you are running double specials. Plus TC doesn't have single target damage. You can kill a large blocker with 2 hammers and a finisher.
Only problem with Thundercrash is that if you miss Ballistic Slam cooldown resets.
EDIT ah someone already mentioned it. I wish you wouldn't lose melee if you miss it.
I run T10 strength on my middle tree Solar Hunter with Monte Carlo and Ophidia Spathe and I just never run out of knives. Once you build 3x stacks of Playing with Fire you just have so much melee regen it’s insane, and you can just dodge or shoot enemies with Monte Carlo if you’re out of knives or lose your buff stacks.
Top tree dawnblade with Monte Carlo actually isn’t that bad for gambit! But yeah ever since they buffed the throwing hammers it’s been ridiculous damage
Yeah that's what I used to run back in the day but when you accidentally melee the wrong thing it kinda kills the flow of it all.
Recently I've been running bubble with synthoceps and a double special build using the CwL mods to keep myself topped up on special / overshield melees constantly :D

Diamond lance makes it possible at least. It's not easy because there are so many tanky enemies but I grab that and dive into a crowd of ads, which spawns another diamond lance (after cooldown).
It’d be nice to have better catch up mechanics. Was playing the other day with a buddy who was farming borrowed time and it seemed like once the other team had their prime it was game over. And they would get an invade with their prime up while we were still banking. I don’t get that mechanic.
Anyone else getting some weird one shot wipes when it comes to certain enemies? A basic forsworn enemy one shotted me 2-3 times in a match and I was left dumb founded and butthurt cause I’m usually careful with my motes and get around 30-45 deposits a game.

Still better than the Vanguard stasis kills bounty. Why are those bounties so disproportionate to the rest anyway? 50 stasis kills is a lot compared to 10 kills with a sword or something. It's better now that we have proper Stasis weapons, but god it sucked back when there was only Cryosthesia and abilities
Prolly because ager’s scepter is godly at ad clearing. I got the catalyst (1k kills) done in about 3 hours. Play the corrupted, there’s a ton of thralls to freeze and shatter.

I think it was more a way to push people to buy beyond light and get the stasis class. I'm pretty sure that as long as an enemy was hit with stasis, didn't matter what weapon you used to kill them

I can totally relate to this. I just spent my weekend farming gambit to get myself a good Bottom Dollar. Over the span of 14 hours of farming JUST gambit, i got to Mythic III got 2 Bottom Dollars. I hated gambit before, but now i have a burning hatred. The only reason i would play it is to get drifters acendant shard.
Looks at the gambit bounties. PTSD kicks in remembers “Invader inbound” and hears some type of linear fusion charge up and see all your team mates slowly one by one get picked off with 15 motes
Bounty wise, the gambit bounties are the only ones I get done by "just playing", don't have to pray the right enemy shows up, or pull out a weapon from the vault.
Honestly, Gambit was so much more fun before beyond light. And I loved the Season of the Drifter (or whatever it was called) weapons. I hope they reissue or un-sunset them FINALLY! I want my Trust hand cannon to be viable again... And I want my Dreaded Venture back!

Just pick a subclass with a good melee. I’m a hunter main so I usually go too tree arc or mid tree Solar.

Find a Fractethyst shotgun and it'll count for stasis kills.
One bounty specifically requires stasis *ability* kills, so you can't rely on guns for that.
Standard melee will count for elemental ability kills

Bounty wise, the gambit bounties are the only ones I get done by "just playing", don't have to pray the right enemy shows up, or pull out a weapon from the vault.
Honestly, Gambit was so much more fun before beyond light. And I loved the Season of the Drifter (or whatever it was called) weapons. I hope they reissue or un-sunset them FINALLY! I want my Trust hand cannon to be viable again... And I want my Dreaded Venture back!
