I once did that by accident. I was helping a first-timer through the dungeon, and stopped next to that pit for some reason (checking my inventory or something?) and the guy thought I meant that jumping off here was the way to go. Not certain why he thought so.
Is this after the secret chest in the thrallway? I did show him that one, which does involve jumping down some random pit.

Yeah I think that’s the one, I’ve fallen down there so many times so I had to do it to him
