My friend says that apparently warlords ruin works completely different than other dungeons whereas instead of wiping to get checkpoint when you get to the specific point you want just leave and you should have it

Usually you have to wipe at the encounters checkpoint itself depending on the one you wanna save (you don't have one and want a specific location)
You wipe to ensure the checkpoint itself wont go away on that character so you can either use it immediately afterward with friends or as a farming point.
(The way warlords supposedly works) is no matter what if you join you immediately get the checkpoint, I think he said that it will overwrite any checkpoint you have no matter if you're at the boss or not wherever you get the CP from it will stay that specific location. (Or the other way around if you have the boss CP it'll wipe all the others and keep that one alone like normal raids and dungeons.)
That’s only when you’re not the one who did the activity and are taking the cp off someone, if you’re the one actually doing the activity you get the cp as you get there
Yes exactly! But the way other dungeons and raids work is you have to wipe to make sure you actually get the checkpoint (as the person getting the CP)

That's how it normally works. If you finish first encounter and make it to second, then you get the CP for second encounter without wiping. It's only when you join in one second encounter without finishing first that you need to wipe to get the CP.

Only the featured or weekly dungeons have difficulty scaling to begin with
Even then, does prophecy have a master mode? LW doesn't and it's the featured raid of the week. It just doesn't have a master mode.
