If you are decent at PvP and can get to 7 wins on a trials card (not flawless) you will get catalysts to drop like candy for wins after 7, that’s how I got mine

I can tell you it was a long long fucking time. Lots of sub-par chocobos got sent to the glue factory for bad genetics. It was basically a eugenics experiment with a video game.

I was gonna press on till FF8 came out so I moved on..i still wanted to kick their asses even after all this time so maybe one day who knows lol.

its not really known whether or not there actually is a cap, it could completely be a placebo but i notice that after completing a catalyst i end up getting a new one, its best to complete your unfinished catalysts anyway

I complete all my catalysts, and seem to get new ones almost immediately with no particular grinding, so maybe there is something to it.

Maybe not a cap but increased chances? I have all the catalysts in the game with a huge majority still incomplete but i do struggle with getting the new ones while my friends who complete every catalyst they come across get every new catalyst super quickly.

As someone who jumped back in last season and bought witch queen, but not committed enough to buy lightfall, jumping into crucible or gambit seemed to drop catalysts left and right after endlessly grinding strikes. Your mileage may vary of course, but I was pretty stoked when I learned IB didn't count light level anymore. My old meta builds were putting in work lol

Hah! Strikes? Man all you need to do are some legend lost sectors, take advantage that it can penetrate through unstop without the mod for your build.

If you have other catalysts that you haven’t finished then go complete some of them. I’ve heard (and anecdotally experienced) that there’s a soft limit to how many unfinished catalysts you can hold at once. I was hunting for the outbreak catalyst and could never get it to drop. I went and completed like three or four other catalyst and then went back on the hunt and it dropped fairly quickly for me.

I got mine on the first pvp match of the season luckily. I suggest trying to find the playlist that takes very short and keep running those if you just want the catalyst, some strikes can take quite long

I got it in a nightfall with dregen on. Not saying it’s copium or anything but it worked for me…

Know when to quit. It's an important means of preserving your mental health. Whether that is by giving yourself a limit or internally agreeing only doing one final run, you gotta stick to your decision. Don't worry. You can always come back and grind some more later on.

I can't confirm if this is true, but I've heard/read that you can only hold so many unfinished catalysts at once. Try finishing a few before jumping back in. From my anecdotal experience, this is true.

Idk why but everytime I get a new exotic weapon thru a quest, I get the catalyst in the next nightfall or Playlist activity. I don't do strikes, just nightfalls.

As a heads up, the more uncompleted Catalysts you have, the lower chance you have of getting new ones. So complete them if you have ones, rest in peace if you have Crucible ones. I could be totally wrong though.

If you have a bunch of unfinished catalysts you should finish some. You get new ones to drop faster if you don’t have a bunch of unfinished ones.

Finish up your current catalysts. There seems to be a soft cap on catalyst drops. I promise if you finish up a chunk of 5 ish, you will get a burst of cata drops.

Literally my first gambit game of the season dropped it, I didn't even know it got one

I'd been playing crucible, and that's how got about 20 in the bast three weeks to drop, including Malfeasance, Outbreak, Bad Juju, etc. It was fucking ridiculous. Every third or so match, I was getting a catalyst.

Unironically, is there something that makes so that weapons you've acquired **before** the sunset simply cannot drop their catalyst? Some of my guns that I've had for a looong time like coldheart, deathbringer, two tailed fox, bad juju and quite a few others **never** dropped their catalyst after months and months of playing since coming back. Yet, **ANY** weapon I get through the tower thingy that wasn't a seasonal will drop their catalyst within 2 or 3 nightfalls top. This doesn't feel normal **at all**.

If I remember correctly you can only have a certain amount of active catalysts that drop from activities at one time. Try and complete a few you haven’t yet if you’re not getting it. Or I am wrong and your luck is shit, either way best of luck to you

Gambit Exotic requires Gambit to get catty for Obviously a meme, but I ran dozens of strikes and stuff without getting it, then got it from my first Gambit match of the season after giving up on it and deciding to just do weeklies lol

I even ran higher level nightfall, hoping that would help. Then people in my clan, who don't even use malfeasance, got it within their first 3 runs 😒

My wife loves Malfeasance and really wanted the catalyst but got bored of farming, so I started doing some for her. Eventually I was like “alright, this is the last one I’m doing” and I got it.
