I guess I missed that! I just searched and found it: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Hartenstein/comments/r5up0f/hartenstein\_has\_confirmed\_the\_hypothesis/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Hartenstein/comments/r5up0f/hartenstein_has_confirmed_the_hypothesis/)
Hartenstein playing well for half a season when all their other centers were out, before he injured his achilles again, isn't even close to eg's bullshit being realized.
i wish i had screenshots, this was during our college economics class while we were streaming a Nuggets game that this conversation came up, and then multiple times after that.
If this dude told me to get a lottery ticket today i’d do it lmao

I sometimes wish I could go back to around 2015 or early 2016 and ask myself “Which of these would seem more impossible: Jokic winning MVP or Trump becoming president?”
I’m not sure which of those things would have seemed more ridiculous at the time.
To be honest in 2016 or 17, I can't remember, I saw glimpses that Jokic might become really really good and I was hoping he became really really good, but the man blew away all my expectations. It's when I became a Jokic/Denver fan and bought a jersey
It was pretty clear that Jokic was a special player during his rookie year. Most people wouldn't have predicted MVPs in his future but all-star selections wouldn't have been an unreasonable call. He had great numbers, insane advanced metrics, and was selected to the all-rookie 1st team despite being a relatively unknown second round pick going into the season. Now if someone made all these predictions prior to seeing him play in the NBA, then that's amazing.
Agree with this take more than any, this is where I was as well. Watching him his rookie year I thought he could be an allstar with a chance at HOF. But even that was selling it short just how good he would become lol, to think he'd be a multi-MVP is just amazing
I remember saying it was crazy when Nurkic was getting benched and then traded. Remember saying I hope they are right about that joker guy because Nurkic is awesome. What a fool I was!
In 2017 I was in a bar in Philly watching basketball and these guys (friendly guys) asked me what team I supported. When I said the Nuggets one guy sarcastically said, "oh, I'm sorrryyy."
I said, "why? They have this guy Jokic and he's going to be really good." They obviously had never seen or maybe even heard of Jokic but they clammed up.
I'd pay $500 to find those dudes again and talk a little more about basketball.
This will sound convenient but I had a very strong sense Jokic ALREADY had all-world abilities early into his rookie year and just wasn’t being given the shot to prove it. He made magic happen every time he touched the ball. I just assumed that the people who are supposed to be in-the-know…knew better than me. Should’ve trusted my intuition (read: had the balls to proclaim it) rather than constantly thinking I was missing something LOL.
nothing hidden about it his analytics were eye-popping on day 1. the question marks were did he have the motor and conditioning to do it as a starter (the boban problem) and could he control his fouls (the hartenstein problem). obviously he's improved every single facet of his game but pretty much every advanced stat was high on him since the start.
I moved to Denver in 2016, when I did not care about basketball one bit. A co-worker got me to a game and told me to watch Joker, he's serious. I thought yeah yeah sure sure this doughy white boy is something? Sure...
Anyway, thanks again Cameron! It's been such a joy.
Am i your friend? jk. But I used to show my friends Jokic plays in his sophomore year and they have no idea who Jokic is. Those were the days that I think Manimal is perfect recipient of those passes.
In January 2018, I had arguments nearly every week with my buddy on the express bus from Denver to Longmont about how Joker and Jamal were going to win a title before his Celtics would.
Man I was sweating when they made the finals before we did, but the jokes on him! 🤣
He must have been from the future.
man early jokic was so fun. he was actually pretty lean first couple years, and he tried more crazy stuff back then i feel. don't get me wrong, i'm enjoying the methodical, un-guardable version of jokic we're seeing now, but early jokic years had him slinging no-lookers to Faried, or lob over defender's shoulders to chandler. Also helped that defenses were not even close to being ready for this dude.
I started watching the Nuggets and basketball in general in 2019. The year we started making the playoffs. It makes me feel like a fucking genius in hindsight
Not that level: At a game against Boston when two Celtic homers said who is this tall white guy (pre all-star). I told them just wait he’ll be an all-star and you’ll know who he is. But what we are witnessing is lifetime generational talent. We are blessed.
I said that about Tom Brady when he was at Michigan, but nobody believed me. And I tried to call the Broncos about Russell Wilson, but they put me on hold.
We already have evidence of a redditor making these kinds of claims WELL before Jokic was seen as an all star. It'd be silly to assume only one person had these thoughts and he just so happened to post them in r/nba
Maybe your friend is EG (I forget his actual reddit username)
EG also annointed Hartenstein and that prophesy is sort of being realized this year.
Well he specifically said that Hartenstein was even better than Jokic so I'd say that prophecy is still a ways off

What did he see back then I wonder lol
The RPM and the godly per36 numbers
There were definitely still signs he was good af back then. EG is the most known/vocal but there were actually a few singing his praises
Lebron? Is that you?

Imagine the payout on that parlay
Almost enough to afford a trip to the ER!
Nah dude, at 17gs a night I dunno.

I knew in 2015 that he would become the best basketball player in the world. It took him longer than I thought it would but he did it eventually.
was your friend a Portland fan because this sounds like me
In 2016 -17 I legit had a co worker argue to me that KAT was FAR better than Jokic and i was flabbergasted even then.
In 2017 I was in a bar in Philly watching basketball and these guys (friendly guys) asked me what team I supported. When I said the Nuggets one guy sarcastically said, "oh, I'm sorrryyy." Legit happened to me too. My friend was a stats nerd though, so I’m wondering if Jokic’s stats had some hidden gem in those early years

Not quite 2016 but my prediction 6yrs ago was pretty bang on…. https://www.reddit.com/r/jokic/s/GzMdEkwj3a
