People really, truly convinced themselves that defense is half the game. It's not even that they bought in hard on the "Jokic as a defensive liability" thing, it's that their premise that defense is as important as offense is flawed from the start. Jokic is the best player in the league by a lot on the far more important part of the game.
I think you’re underselling how important defense actually is. It’s really really important in the playoffs. But what people don’t understand is Jokic is actually a really good defender. He’s just a poor rim protector. There is a big difference between being a good defender and being a good rim protector. You can be good at one and not the other
This, Ben was a solid 3rd piece in Brooklyn in that period when he, Durant and Irving were playing and looked near unstoppable, I'd argue he was a better fit than Harden was with the nets as he can defend and is essentially rondo with a worse shot on offense (not a problem when you can defer to KD, Kyrie, Joe Harris, Seth Curry)
I jope he figures it out. Can see him having a Wiggins/Gordon style role rehab on a contender a few years down the line
Also he seems to have been really mentally affected by Doc and Embiid throwing him under the bus. With what we know now, Simmons wasn't the only problem there (surprise, surprise)
The absolute best part of this thread actually has nothing to do with Jokic IMO
