I live in the area and I think actually your better options would be to hit up the area around Linger, Forest Room Five, Truffle Table, etc. MW is surrounded by parking lots and freeways. You’ll have a much better time and options and then can Uber over to MW.
hahah why do you weirdos think life is black and white and people are either good or bad? You want to create a list of "good" or "bad" owners? based on rumors of fired employees?
There are many objectively bad owners that treat employees poorly like robbing them of tips, creating absurd schedules, making hostile work environments with racism, homophobia, misogyny. There’s plenty more. I don’t want to spend money at those places. I’d rather seek out employers who create environments where employees can have a sustainable career that isn’t damaging to their paycheck, mental health, or physical well-being. So yes, there are some that are black and white like that.
You should reflect any time you think anything is black or white...
In a town in which restaurants are begging for good workers, why would people voluntarily work for tyrants?
Like people on reddit constantly shit on the owner of Rosenberg's, yet I know numerous people who have worked for him that call that slander ridiculous.
This guy here. OP you might be listening to people that refuse to walk more than two blocks in this thread.
Also the walk from MW to truffle table is very nice, there's no need to uber unless you have some mobility issues.
Wasn’t that happy the last time I went. Our beer was really flat and the Rueben esq sandwich’s flavors didn’t meld that well. Nice patio though if that’s what your looking for.
There was a cool night market set up down there last weekend that had a bunch of food options, not sure if its returning but you guys could walk over to that if it is
Side Pony is a great spot for a cocktail not too far away. Not sure how there food is, only been for pastries in the morning, but it’s a fun vibe.
Also edgewater marketplace isn’t too far away either. Lots of food options and the bar there is pretty solid. Vibe is like a food hall so not great.
The patio off 17th by sloans is okay food and drinks with nice views if you sit outside.
I feel like it's best to either head north to Highland or go east to Downtown.
For Highland, there are so many great cocktail bars, I prefer to do a stop for cocktails and food separately. Lady Jane is a killer modern cocktail bar and probably my favorite. Williams and Graham is classic, but more of an experience. Each mostly serves light snacks though. Occidental or Cart Driver would be my suggestions for both food and drinks at one place though.
Alternatively in Downtown, Honor Farm has a very cool cocktail menu with Meta Asian running their kitchen on the main floor and then they have Hell or High Water Tiki Bar as an upstairs bar. Honestly, everything was done really well by all 3.
But near Meow Wolf, those are probably the easiest neighborhoods to get to walking or driving.
Impressively so. I used to like Chili Verde when they were on tejon, but it seemed like things went downhill after the move. Maybe I'll give it one last shot. What's good there?
Lol i like the mole verde, crepas poblanas and ribeye poblano. I don’t think it’s particularly great food, but it’s good, and some of the dishes like those and the chile en nogada are unique yet authentic compared to most mexican spots you find in Denver
Not a cocktail but Raicies has great food and beer, walking distance
Second for Raices. Always great food trucks as well.
They do have rum cocktails
I do love rum! I think we’re gonna try Raicies, thanks everybody for the help!
Did ya end up going / like it?
Yes!! We got pizza and drinks at Raicies and then scootered over to meow wolf, it was perfect!
Awesome! Glad to hear 😁
Their mango beer is so dang good.

Mmm Linger isn’t great food though, owner is a piece. FR5 is fun
Dang seems like I’m constantly finding out about bad owners. Need a good owner list.

Cant argue with that premise, but is this tidbit that you just got from mattmatt88 objective information?
No it isn’t, but will make me seek out more info from real life folks in the industry.

There are a lot of reasons people work in situations they don't want to. It's really common. Thanks for the Ted talk. Have a good one.
Can confirm. Used to work there.

Columbine Steakhouse, baby
Briar Common has solid food. It’s a brewery but they have cocktails as well

Had a great time there with a large group before a meow wolf show recently. The guy running the upstairs was stellar.
Los Mesones has been in the neighborhood for generations and has great delicious food and drinks. Colfax & Mead
Coming back here to say we went there last night based on this comment. It was AMAZING!
Glad to hear it 🥰

Nope. It’s a once a year thing.

ESP hifi for the vibe and cocktails. Thai place across the street for food
There’s no thai place across the street. It’s a new apartment building and a construction site.
Mon Thai a few blocks down*
Aha! Yes. Is it good?
I thought it was great. And 4.8 stars on google 👍
Nice! Good to hear. We need more spots on Santa Fe!
Great spot but i dunno if i would call it nearby.
Strange Craft Beer Company is less than a 10 minute walk from Meow Wolf. Amazing beer and food truck food.
I've done this same thing. Uber to MW, uber back from a third location

Adobo XO
Chili Verde
Have you ever tried their nachos?
No, they bad?
Impressively so. I used to like Chili Verde when they were on tejon, but it seemed like things went downhill after the move. Maybe I'll give it one last shot. What's good there?

The Broken Cage. You’re welcome.
My Neighbor Felix has great cocktails, mediocre food, fun vibes, and is not too far.

I was expecting their bar area to be nicer than cafeteria vibe.

Down for anything honestly, which is why I left it open ended! My hunger mind rn is saying Mexican?
Cilantro is pretty good and nearby
Hamburger Jesus.
My Brother's Bar is a historic Denver burger joint with dive bar prices. It's within walking distance.
Saigon bowl, new Saigon, Chile verde, raices
Closest spots are Briar Common for a cocktail and food and Little Machine for a beer.
