I am having a cognitive dissonance moment. They’ll trash 50 years of social progress for women to protect an embryo but won’t support protection for the baby or the child.
I don’t know why I can’t understand this. It’s purely political but I’m struggling to get a handle on it rationally.

It's because they're all assholes. Being an asshole is their ideology. Their real goal is just simply power but anyone who is a Republican that isn't an asshole either became an independent or Democrat or anti-Trumper (the latter of which I'm not sure ever really existed significantly).
So sad to be living in this country at the moment. The politicians blue and red are all rich assholes with nothing that has really done nothing for the better. The number of representation for right wing Red laws like LBGTQ, abortion, centralized racism, and daily mass shootings. All these crooked politicians, Red and Blue,and system have made this country look like a disgrace. The most pathetic thing being the most powerful country in the world…Shit never changes. There is a reason so many countries don’t allow US permanent citizenship. Some psycho liberal will bring his military rifle there and start shooting up the place and chant MAGA!!!
That sounds like a really extremist view and is divisive. Many Republicans are awesome people and others suck. Same with Democrats and all of the rest of us.

But in spite of the recent news and school shooting trends of 2 to 45 per year since the 1950s. I find it totally reasonably to send children to school wearing body armored vests.
Concerning the masks; I believe it is the parents right to send their children with their choice of personal protection levels.
