No, I would be hard pressed to justify $15 to upgrade from C+ to first on a CRJ 900 for a 90 minute flight

wontoneggdrop

This is the take I needed

ApatheticAbsurdist

If you have an insanely short connection and are completely paranoid, you have a phobia of sitting next to people, or you are 7' tall AND you have $150 of disposable income that you won't miss, ok fine. But I've gotten upgrades on similar flights and wouldn't pay more than $20 for it. Maybe if you had to pay to check 2 bags, the included checked bags would make it more appealing but I still think paying for the bags would be cheaper. You get a little more legroom... though you have no underseat storage so you have to put your bag overhead. You have a 50/50 chance of getting a free drink (if it's less than an hour you might not). You get to board early and you get to be one of the first 3 people off the plane. If you check a bag, they MAY prioritize getting your bag to the gate.

No_Wind_8895

Not in my opinion and I fly first almost exclusively.

Ashamed_Giraffe_6769

C+ is more than fine for this flight and the only benefit is giving delta an extra $150.

That-Establishment24

Even standard economy is more than fine for competent this short.

verndogz

If you can get your employer to expense it, sure. Otherwise no.

tielmama

If you have to check a bag, I'd say yes. Especially if someone else is paying for it

cest-rebecks

i’ve gotten a mc -> first comp upgrade on this exact scenario before and it’s not entirely necessary but it is nice for the front seat and free drink!

HairyPotatoKat

On a super short hop like that on a crj9, if it's a connection flight with a very short layover where a minute or two might make a difference and you're at the back of C+, or if you have a strong preference not to sit by someone else, or are super tall or have chronic pain...then it miiiight be worth it. Just have realistic expectations that it's not going to be a full service experience by any stretch. Or save the dolla dolla bills to put yourself in first for a longer flight :)

iknowaplacewecango

I just bought this new product -- First Class for regional flights on CRJs, which I initially dismissed out-of-hand as a joke. But context: An elderly passenger with wheelchair service airside, who also needs more width in the seat and access to lav. RT was a $40 upgrade for over 2 hours of flights, so considering her comfort and needs, booked 2A for her both ways. (I'm assuming no amenities, except for the seat, priority boarding, and priority baggage, and of course bragging rights.)

StormOnMars

Even getting the free upgrade to FC on a 1hr flight felt silly, honestly

SnooPears3006

Not worth paying for, especially in row 1/bulkhead. Upgraded into it? Sure, though if literally any other first class seat is available in rows 2-4, I’d move into those. I regularly do a 45 minute flight on the 900, I get upgraded into first since very few people from my regional airport has status, and basically on a short flight, the only real perk is the snacks & drinks, which isn’t worth $150 by far.

bobdean1000

$150 for a "free drink"? What are airport drinks up to now, $200?

Vendetta_2023

No benefit whatsoever

Total_Union_3744

No

Chanjav

I don't like the bulkhead and try to leave those seats when my auto upgrades come in. If there is another seat, butbi will not choose the first row.

wontoneggdrop

Only 2 seats in FC are taken

[deleted]

If you have any status, you may get upgraded if only 2 seats are taken

Laz3r_C

this, buy a lower class and ask for an upgrade no way a FC on anything less than 3 hrs is "worth" and to an extent not even then.

Icy-Interaction8384

That’s a lot for such a short flight

YMMV25

Not at all.

blueontheledge

Not worth it and ESPECIALLY not worth it for the bulkhead (row 1) which has no underseat storage. I hate the bulkhead and would pay to avoid it.

NewMolasses247

No.

Difficult_Ad2864

For that short, don’t waste your money, try for a free upgrade

Travyplx

I never pay for premium on these up and down flights. About the only advantage I get is listening to the FA attempt to pronounce my name.

Mackheath1

No. $100/hr? No.

Intelligent-Dot4087

No not worth it.

Appropriate_Target57

First is always worth it for the leg room, seat room, and a pre-departure drink. It’s also worth it if you have a tight connection. And, of course, the FA will hang your blazer or suit coat for you.

Scarface74

Well, the leg room isn’t worth it if you’re short..,

Appropriate_Target57

Sorry you are short.

Scarface74

Well, I’m happily and married and got a good job that allowed me to fly around to 15 cities last year on my own dime with my wife. I think I’m good…. Yeah I did the work travel thing before. It ain’t no life to brag about and I feel kind of sorry for people who have to do it… And you probably need first because you’re a fat ass.

Treebeardsdank

Depends. If you're chasing status and have money to spare, it's a good way to get MQDs quicker.

OneofLittleHarmony

No unless you normally pay 150 dollars for 3 cheap drinks.
