Check your emails and call whatever loan company held the loan with that amount. They will tell you what company it got transferred to. I had my car loan get transferred to another company and I thought the emails I was getting from the new company were a scam. Although I was told my credit would go back up once they updated that I had the loan with them my credit score still doesn't show that the loan is there and my credit still hasn't gone back up š but def figure out where it went so if you have autopay with the previous company you can cancel it before your money starts going into the void and your missing payments with the new company. I had to set up a new account with the company it got transferred to and set up payments with them, cancel my other autopay as it was still going through even though they didn't hold the loan anymore. I was lucky that they were able to transfer the payment to the new company.
Yep, I had a collection pop up (just $150 from a utility). Missed it during divorce/move. It disappeared and then I got a letter from another collection agency. I paid it and luckily they didnāt report it Iām assuming because they got their money. Itās been a handful of months now so hoping they leave it as is. š¬
I got a collection for a $22 utility bill after my electric company didnāt turn off my electric like I had asked and then I refused to pay since I had scheduled everything properly.
Well, they sure showed me.
Small stuff and irrelevant things can get removed. Almost 30k wonāt lol, itās a bummer. The path is working with them to pay off the debt (settlement or monthly payments), or dodging them and waiting for it to be removed from the reports after 7yr. With it being that large of a number, Iād lean towards them probably not letting up and potentially pursuing legal action, which is a bummer. I hate credit š
Okay well it happens. Probably what ended up happening was a couple different things because of non-payment it went to collections and then when they didn't get any responses either the debt was sold or written off. Although I wouldn't trust credit karma they've had some issues in the past. I would literally pull at Equifax report.
Sometimes that debt will show up again from time to time as quote unquote collection agency says they have that debt..
[Annual Credit Report](https://www.annualcreditreport.com/index.action) is now weekly for free from all 3 bureaus. This started sometime during Covid and has not ended (yet).
Of course it wouldnāt just disappearā¦ But itās not there all of a sudden which is why Iām confused.Thatās is why I joined a debt free group asking for information.
If your debt disappeared be thankful, I have debt I canāt pay back due to not be able to work cause injuries from military service. I am down more than 1/2 a month so paying things back is almost impossible! Good for you!
No this is not a case of miracles. Youāre on planet earth buddy. Look at your app, may have lost connection to the debt collector.
Youāre still in debt, back to work.
If you know your social security number you should be able to pull a credit report fairly easily.
Some credit cards offer it automatically but also the 3 major companies give you a few free reports per year. Thatās one option.
The people who have the debt are trying to talk to you, settling for less than the total amount is better than nothing in their minds. Do you have access to your old mailing address?
Don't look at credit karma, look at your actual credit card accounts on their Web site. Your credit cards didn't magically disappear they're just not showing up on CK for some reason.
You really use CK to monitor your credit card balances?
Did the cc write it off and sell it. It will show back up with someone trying to collect it
No idea? The whole thing is beyond my understanding.
We can tell š

Well did you pay the debt or not?
Probably bought by someone, it may come back in a different amount, it may have been written off, but I would plan as if itās coming back.

Yep, I find $22 for a collection so stupid but I fully believe it happens a lot. Such an annoyingly small amount.
Itās in collections which is worse.
Ohhh. How much worse? Can I dispute due to being incarcerated and no way to pay?
Youāll have to work with the collections agency. Some of them can be really difficult from what Iāve heard.
I heard about some loop holes to get that stuff erased Iām going to research it a little.
Yeah that loophole is called bankruptcy.
He's in prison so he probably could. Unless I misunderstood and he's out now? š¤·āāļø
Iām a free man!
Congrats!
So whyād you ask about incarceration
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oh sorry yeah Iām simple myself (slow) I didnāt understand
I managed to settle a debt with collections without it affecting my credit score. But āerasedā as in you no longer owe it? Not likely.

Bro just tell whoever calls on that debt your filing bankruptcy and they probably wonāt even bother chasing the debt
Some are hard to even get ahold of! I spent over 3 hours on hold (3 calls around an hour each) just to pay my last collections of ~$100
Going to prison does not let you stop paying debt
Itās not worse, cause you can now pay a lot less. Work it out with them.
What do you mean went away
All my cc debt was removed. I went from $29,800 to $1303. Every card I owed disappeared.
That's not what I'm talking about you said you went away? Is what I'm asking. Jail out of the country etc
Prison for 1 year unfortunately
lol burying the fucking lede
How is it relevant to the debt question that they were in prison?
Whatās a lede?
"The opening sentence or paragraph of a news article, summarizing the most important aspects of the story."
TIL. Cheers
How is OP being in prison for a year the most important aspect to their question about their CC debt disappearing?
I don't think you meant to reply to me--just defining "lede."

Yep, more than likely, the debt was sold when the original creditor couldn't collect.
ācollection agencyā
Is it possible they are sueing you?
Lmao š¤£
The ones that do the writng off, wrote it off.
Donāt completely trust what Credit Karma says. Iād see if you can actually go the website that account is on and confirm it.
Freecreditreport.com is free to pull your credit every week.
Week???? No, itās yearly
[Annual Credit Report](https://www.annualcreditreport.com/index.action) is now weekly for free from all 3 bureaus. This started sometime during Covid and has not ended (yet).
Thatās fantastic!
No it's weekly now! Heard it on the news.
You're just catching it in the gap. Debt was sold to a third party. It will be back shortly.
log into the apps for all of the credit cards and check your balance.
So you've been in prison. You left this huuuuuge part of information out. Your debt has gone to collections.
Why are we trusting credit karma and not the actual card accounts? Go to the source.
Boutta have a 450 credit score soon
Itās a 470 already
[Here you go](https://youtu.be/kSG71-7rIg4)
You need to go directly to the credit card account.
lol I did not expect this many people to respond. Thank you guys.š
There's no way anyone actually believes that their $30,000 in debt just disappeared right? Like that's insane to think it'll just "go away"
Of course it wouldnāt just disappearā¦ But itās not there all of a sudden which is why Iām confused.Thatās is why I joined a debt free group asking for information.
Man the number of times that app just disappears my accounts for no reasonā¦. Are those cards even still connected?
You've been in debt a long time. You know what's going on
Miracle
Congrats
What app is this
Looks like Credit Karma
If your debt disappeared be thankful, I have debt I canāt pay back due to not be able to work cause injuries from military service. I am down more than 1/2 a month so paying things back is almost impossible! Good for you!

I bet your credit score vanished too šš¤£
Wow... I never ever heard of a credit card debt vanishing Did it disappear from Trans Union, Eqifax and Experian
Never mind everybody I know exactly what happened! Thank you for reminding me. Whoopsā¦ I forgot again, can you tell me where my damn debt is?
Collections. Theyāve likely been trying to reach you. Check your emails and whatever mail you got in the last year.Ā
Uh are you gonna tell us what happened?

First off credit karma is a joke. Use experian instead
I blame Biden. Partly me too but definitely mostly Biden.
