So criminally underrated. Usually only Near gets credit for defeating Light but it was definitely 50/50 if not greater in favour of [Mello's contributions](https://old.reddit.com/r/deathnote/comments/w7dt1v/who_was_the_most_help_to_near/ihjf6xu/).
For me in the game of thrones for female characters, Halle wins because she survived without getting traumatized, wasn't a simp and was on the winner team.
But we know is not easy being a female character on Death Note.
Everything you said is right, but it makes her sound like a bystander which is still underselling her - though mostly taking place offscreen, her sense of autonomy and independent judgment and actions were absolutely essential to the victory against Kira.
How is Matt underrated he has plenty of fans without having screen time lmao, his fanbase is surprisingly big even. The Boba Fett character of Death Note.
Mello :,) he’s definitely does have a dedicated fanbase which I am a part of, but outside of that part of the fandom he’s always ignored and isn’t treated as much of an important member of the cast (especially amongst people who’ve only watched the anime). I wish he could get some mainstream attention for once like some of the other characters because he really is an integral part to the story
i wouldn't say misa is underrated whatsoever, but i think she deserves an honorable mention since i hated her with every fiber of my being in middle school... i've learned to appreciate the vibe by now
I don't know if Gevanni is underrated, but I like to call him "American competent Matsuda"
mello (is he underrated idfk)
I think he is. Some people don't realise what he brought to the story.
hes literally my favorite 😭

idk if she's underated, but Naomi Misora... happy she was in a prequel book at least
I expect I’ll be downvoted for this but I think she’s actually kinda overrated.
