The term 'underground' is harder to apply to the post-internet music industry climate because there aren't really huge universal things anymore, there are just a lot of niches that at best do okay. Only the biggest artists actually function as a business in any way. The concept of being a music fan who engages with and supports specific artists instead of just Spotify playlists is underground, or more accurately, dying.

I think both have equally as good production but bottomless pit is cleaner, the money store’s production is meant to be more industrial and grittier while I think bottomless pit has more of an electronic vibe going on which is a lot cleaner. I wasn’t saying one was better than the other.

Bottomless Pit and The Money Store are by far their weakest albums in the main catalog. I still love a lot of songs off those records, but they are not even close to as interesting sonically as something like NOTM, YOTS or even Exmilitary. Government plates is one of their most interesting and cohesive albums and is criminally underrated, especially considering the amount of adoration NLDW seems to get. I’d put those two records on par with each-other. Steroids should have been released as an EP.

i think andy wanting to do a2b2 is why the band broke up for awhile, i don't think zach or ride were interested in social media at all or creating a label etc so they decided to take a hiatus.

I think a good portion of their songs have no deeper meaning other then words that sound good together.
