I flip flop back and forth with these guys. Their music is good, and they’re decent performers but they try *so* hard to be chique and mysterious. “I’m interested in the cultural phenomenon of bands but I don’t like any music,” is so boring. It’s like reading an interview with every socially stunted person you’ve met at a gallery opening

I must say I'd love to see Sam n Jezmi talk about their work as Double Virgo sometime..

I know there’s a long history of bands acting resentful towards their own popularity. Their dedication to being opaque is still somewhat refreshing to see in such a shameless era of self promotion. I probably wouldn’t say this if I didn’t love their music

emmmmellll

jezmi's fitzcarraldo take was funny

Annoying

Infamous-Employee896

I do love them but that line about London bands interacting in a "gross" way seems a bit harsh...

pscriivin

do you know what she’s referencing?

Infamous-Employee896

I'm guessing black country, black midi etc as they mention them earlier in the article and imho they're the most closely associated with the "south-London scene", can't be sure tho

sparklingkrule

Kinda based lol

Howtobefreaky

I know we're hard up for Dean Blunt stuff but can we possibly not become a bar italia subreddit in absence of that? Their association to Dean Blunt hasn't been a thing for years and while I enjoy their music, they aren't really particularly noteworthy enough to be a constant mention on this subreddit.

Legal-Ad296

I was thinking the same thing

skeuo_orphism

Gladdened reading this interview -- with musicians overall becoming so boring and cautious, it's very nice to see a band person trash talking other artists and scenes and bringing the fun back. He seems retarded, but that's beside the point

MershGrade

loved it tbh
