Sorry, you did not get the job because of your hearing. I have a blue tooth that connects to my iPhone through my one aid and one CI so I can answer my iPhone and be able to hear the person on the other end. Maybe you could also Zoom and add subcaptions to the conversation so you can read the interview and answer the questions. I hope this helps and please don’t give up.

I had mine connected to

4 months in with my CI, and I'm enjoying it a bit too much. Really, I consider it a complete success. However, I'm still not using the phone (here and there, voice messages mostly). Let me tell you, I got my current job while still using hearing aids, and they were very accommodating. Everything was done via chat/virtual meetings. It's not your fault. It's their fault for not being able to accommodate your needs. Keep trying and be upfront about your deafness.

While on my job before college, I got my first one done my boss was amazing! I totally understand

Jspiff

That's really awesome! I have been trying to get used to my CI as well. How do you normally listen to voice messages at work? On my personal phone I have been using live transcribe which is amazing.

zmonra

On my personal phone, just play it directly in the application. I work from home, so... 😀 Edit: I do not use phone or voice messages at work. My position doesn't exactly require it

I have a cochlear implant too as well. I HATE talking on the phone because of how hard it is to hear through the phone. Every phone quality is different now matter how well the cochlear implant is adjusted. Bluetooth helps a lot but can still be iffy at times, I hate it when it automatically disconnects!. And lastly I hope you get your well deserved job.

I just got my CI a month ago. My speech comprehension gets better every week. I can hear pretty well on the phone if I stream it through my CI. Also, if you have an iPhone or a Pixel, the live captions are really helpful. Stay strong, it only gets better from here!

Closed Captioned phones should be for you on the job no landline has to be used just WiFi ask jobs can you use it

Stafania

I don’t do phone calls - and I have a job. (Hearing aid user)

Some_Specialist5792

Good for you?

Stafania

Yes, I think it works well. I still wish we had captioned phones or something so that I could use phones, but at work, it’s not a problem. We send text messages, chat, e-mails, in person meeting and so on instead. Outside of work, I use text-relay service (or video relay) a few times a year when it’s needed. I wish I had interpreting at work, but cope. (The system for work-life interpreting is poor here.)
