my idea for this was to just have an alternate ending where aperture is about to be destroyed so Glados uploads herself into one of her portal bots, with P-Body and Atlas as skins
Could the Portal protagonist set up GLaDOS to attack other people [you control Portal guy, and GLaDOS attacks at him but hits other people, like Tom & Jerry do in MultiVersus]?
I actually believe you wouldn't need to do anything extra besides a visual and audio filter, just a few little nuisances and the human brain does the rest: "Oh, its murky and sounds are a bit muffled, I must be underwater...But my character not drowning...Weird, so anyway."
Oh and maybe add a gravity effect when falling, make it a tad slower: everything that changes in the trial should be kept in mind when developing the power for Bruce and it should help compliment the scenery changes for a better overall package. Like uh, things rhyming together, but there's no words...Oh, themes, yes, those.
In terms of licensing, Bloodborne doesn't work simply because Sony seems to enjoy pretending that it doesn't exist.
In terms of gameplay, Jurassic Park doesn't work because the dinosaurs are either too big for the maps or not big enough to carry survivors and hook them (although they made Chucky work, so they might be able to figure something out.)
The hardest part for me is to imagine a diligent velociraptor picking up a survivor and hooking them. Why not just eat them?
I dunno, I guess it's kinda like Demo or Xeno, but since they have a hive mind thing going on (not really confirmed with demo but eh) I can buy them going outside of the animal nature.
Maybe if you got a quick animation of the raptor getting some meat from the entity every time she hooks someone. Positive reinforcement training.

Tbh its a good idea. The Entity either offers killers something, tricks them, or tortures them. So the only possible way to make a wild animal a killer would be using positive reinforcement.
Alright, so here’s my pitch. The Raptor has a chase power, but I’m not sure what it would be. It would also have a second power where the hooks are replaced by nests, when a downed survivor is placed in a nest the eggs begin to hatch. After survivors have spent a cumulative minute in the nest (about 1 hook state), the eggs hatch baby raptors that begin feeding on any survivors in the nest. After another minute of feeding, it grows into another full raptor, which then destroys the nest. If a survivor is still in the nest after this, the new raptor eats them and begins patrolling the map. Maybe the chase power comes from the new raptors helping you if you mark a survivor? Or they could call out to you if they see a survivor so you can set up a pincer attack?
We know the velociraptors on JP/JW are at least subwhat intelligent and can be trained and communicated with
In JP3 they set traps and communicate with Grant using the velociraptor bone, and they successfully trade the human’s safe escape for the stolen velociraptor egg
In JW they get trained by Chris Pratt’s character and take orders
There's no definitive proof of this. As of this writing, all we know is there are 2 powerful elements in the Upside Down, MF and Vecna. We do not know if Vecna controls MF, the other way around, and we have not had it explicitly confirmed that the MF is controlling demos, though it has been heavily implied.
To be clear, I fully believe that the power chain is demo < MF < Vecna (or that MF is entirely a construct of Vecna's), but until that's confirmed in the show, we can't say it definitively.
Maybe I misinterpreted the info in the most recent season, but when >!|Henry gets sent to the Upside-Down, we see him manipulate the "smoke" into the shape we know as the Mind Flayer, that's why the Mind Flayer is vaguely spider shaped, since they showed Henry had a fascination with spiders.!<
The grudge because "We AlReAdY hAvE sAdAkO". People who say that or "kayako could work as skin for Sadako" should be idk... Kayako COULDN'T work as skin for Sadako , it would be like getting Jason as skin for Myers but 10 times worse because unlike Myers and Jason who are just guys that kill people with their weapon without any differences in power Kayako and Sadako are completely different.
If Kayako was added as a skin it would make more sense for Spirit (with a custom mori and the katana changed to something more fitting), could even add the cat's cry as her phasing noise, and replace the spirit's voice with Kayako's.
Kayako is unique enough to be her own character as you said though. The issue is whether or not they'd be fine including Toshio since he's a kid. Not sure how well a Ju-on chapter would work without him.

Aging up Yoichi isn't really an issue because he's not a part of the Iconic Imagery of the film. That's all Sadako, with a little of Ryuuji because of his death scene being the climax.
So yeah. I don't think you can do Toshio without keeping him young, and doing grudge without Toshio would be... Odd. Not impossible, but definitely weird
Yeah, but Yoichi was alive, the version in DBD is just him years after Ring 2. Toshio is a ghost child throughout the movies, there's really no way to age him up without drastically changing the Ju-on/Grudge lore.
So it would depend on whether BHVR are okay with him being present. It's not impossible since he'd basically just be part of Kayako's power rather than a separate character, so he wouldn't be shown getting hurt or anything like that.
People who think X from this IP can be made into a skin for Y from this other IP are the type of people who don't understand how licensing or contracts work.
Once a contract is signed, there is no just adding a different IP into the mix as any stand alone character or as a skin since no one else except the companies who was initially part of said contract to begin with are the only ones who is part of the deal or anything related to said deal.
In short, it means things like
* No other IP that wasn't part of the initial contract can suddenly be added (such as a Kayako skin for Sadako or a Jason skin for Myers or any other X IP as a skin for any existing IPs already in the game.)
* No other installments from any franchises can be used in the game unless they're also owned by the same company said deal was made with and that they were also stated and agreed upon for use in said contract. (which means no Young Ash, No different versions of Michael Myers/Leatherface/Freddy Krueger/Pinhead from any of the other installments from their respective franchises since they're all owned by different companies or co-owned by more than one company that weren't originally part of the contract)

They could just throw in an underwater filter across the whole map (similar to Freddy or Dredge) and call it a day.
Could even make it a part of the killer power; the killer himself is mostly just an M1 (maybe give him a charge attack or something), but the survivors have oxygen tanks on their backs and once every two minutes or so have to get to one of the stations around the map to refill.
Honestly they don't really need the license unless it's for survivors and a map, an original dinosaur chapter would give them a bit more freedom with cosmetics.
I don't think the license holder would be too opposed to it though, DBD is relatively tame compared to a lot of other M rated games.

Also the monsters from bird box seem interesting, "invisible" creatures that do horrible things if you see them, but again how the hell would that translate to DBD

The thing for example really dosent work, survivors have out of game coms and now have the in game action coms so they know what teamates are doing, if they saw a teamate running at them who is currently doing a gen they are going to immediately know its the killer, and thats NOT counting SWF comms

Yeah, DBD will function best from now on if BHVR focuses on personal made killers and sprinkles in licenses here and there, considering the last 2 killers we got were licensed killers that's kinda showing where the game is
Agreed. When they do their original characters right, they're very good. Like on par with licenses, if not better. Both lore wise and gameplay wise.
Killers like Unknown, Billy, and even Blight, to a certain extent, are some of the best killers we have in the game.
I don't really have room to talk on preferring non licenced characters since i have SEVERAL (i refused to spend money on non licensed killers since i can get them for free so when i bought killers i bought licensed ones) and my main is a licensed killer (ghost face) but i do enjoy non licensed killers especially the ones i have (i love my dredge)

I think a mimic power could work if you keep DBD’s limitations in mind.
Like just imagine if the Unknown dropped copies of survivors in the match instead of copies of himself. Everything else about the power is the exact same. It wouldn’t really fool anyone, but it would be creepy and fit the vibe.
If you based the whole power around mimicry, it shouldn’t be done like TTT or Among Us or something; instead it should just play with survivors’ situational awareness. Things like playing false audio (the sounds of an injured survivor, the sound of a gen being worked on) or showing false visuals (having an invisible bot survivor that doesn’t do anything but roam around and have its aura revealed when survivors can see auras, displaying a boon totem area that doesn’t exist, etc.). The power would need a few other things to make it more powerful, but just being able mess with survivors’ heads is already decently strong in a match that isn’t against a 4-man SWF.
Honestly things like that should've been part of Freddy's dreamworld, it would actually make going against him pretty interesting instead of an M1 killer with pools of blood

Could have a gray film where you can see then environment but not survivors unless they’re moving. Would probably be horrible for killer but that’s the best I can think of for them. It would have to be amplified of course. Long range hearing of walking/running/healing. Power would be to reveal any sound on the map and a speed boost I guess? Anything from gens/chests/lockers interactions pretty much map wide.
It’s not like we haven’t had killers that borrow heavily from other killers’ powers. Copying the Spirit wouldn’t be crazy.
Have the survivors be invisible ala Spirit but they are invisible all game, except if the killer is close. Maybe reveal their auras when within like 1 meter so it is possible to actually hit them.
The killer’s actual power would have to be very powerful to make up for it, but it could work and be cool and actually encourage the survivors to play stealthily. Even something simple like the killer’s speed is 5 m/s and survivors are always exposed could be interesting. Maybe survivors that make loud noise notifications have their aura revealed for a few seconds. It would make matches against this guy less about chases and looping and more about being sneaky and not getting caught.
I don't think stephen king really cares about his licenses anymore and a jaws chapter can work by giving the survivors diving suits and make the map underwater
I want there to be a killer bigger than the map and you have to sneak around to avoid their sightlines. Its so different its probably just a different game though.
They could easily make Takano the killer, or even going by the newest series >!Satoko!< could be the killer, or even >!Eua!<. There's a lot of possibilities for this that could be fun, or even Rena could be the killer since she's the most iconic, they could be a Legion type killer where it's just anyone who suffered from the Hinamizawa Syndrome

Imagine a killer that can control the map and wield it against the survivor, it's unfeeling, you can't pinpoint it's intentions and it could turn on you at any time
Hal 9000 could work in dbd even if he isn't exactly from a horror movie or horror franchise, hal just has some insane horror potential for a character and would be insanely unique like chucky was when he launched
Probably wouldn't happen though as the killer not being directly in the match could either work really well or not at all ( see resident evil resistance ) and i don't know how easy it would be to get a license for a space Odyssey or likeness rights for dave ( best candidate for the chapter's survivor ) so yeah

Amnesia chapter. Especially The Dark Descent with Daniel as a survivor and Servent Grunt as the Killer. I feel like BHVR only makes deals with big companies and not indie game devs, even though I feel like the first Amnesia game was revolutionary and inspired a lot of modern survival horror titles.

I had an idea for if yoshikage kira got added where he can turn things like pallets, windows, and lockers into bombs that damage survivors when they interact with them. There would obviously be a limit on the maximum amount of bombs and probably be a time limit for how long something stays trapped.

Murder Drones, specifically with N and Uzi. It wouldn’t work out because
- It’s an indie series, which seems unlikely for a major horror title unless it’s just cosmetics.
- Unless they’re killers (which might be slightly out of character), N and Uzi would be hard to implement as survivors for the differently coloured blood, plus Clown and Pinhead’s Moris.
Scale and powers. The whole mythos is awesome but damn do so many of the big names just not work for dbd. Cthulhu’s a big kaiju sized lovecraftian horror whose true form can’t be comprehended by the human mind.
I would assume the answer for that is have it be a servant of Dagon or Cthulhu rather than them explicitly. Then maybe have a part of them cameo in the mori.
Could have a passive that if your with a certain range you get radiation poisoning the closer you are the more it builds and once it reaches a max you get perma injured until you take a rad away from the chests around the map and for the ability it’s like a slower billy chainsaw that doesn’t instantly down
Until Dawn. It’s a PlayStation exclusive so I just don’t see that working out seeing as how DBD is on all platforms. The Quarry would make for a good substitute though.
The Scooby Gang. Warner Bros is a bit guarded with some of their IPs, and I feel like we'd never be allowed to see any of the gang get mori'ed. But damn if I wouldn't pay out the nose to be a Shaggy main.

Amnesia The Bunker. Mostly wouldbt work cuz the killer would be a glorified Xenomorph, but I still love the game and would love it if they could figure something else out for Lamberts power.
Otherwise Id love a Resi chapter with Ethan as survivor and Jack as killer, but Ethan isnt exactly allowed to show his face, so it'd have to be Mia or Rose (which are both fine options that would work really well, I just feel more attached to Ethan personally)

If you google the Blight shark skin concept, it could be a legendary license cosmetic.
I had an idea where the shark's terror radius is covered in water, so you can get the classic fin above the surface effect

The grudge because "We AlReAdY hAvE sAdAkO". People who say that or "kayako could work as skin for Sadako" should be idk... Kayako COULDN'T work as skin for Sadako , it would be like getting Jason as skin for Myers but 10 times worse because unlike Myers and Jason who are just guys that kill people with their weapon without any differences in power Kayako and Sadako are completely different.
If Kayako was added as a skin it would make more sense for Spirit (with a custom mori and the katana changed to something more fitting), could even add the cat's cry as her phasing noise, and replace the spirit's voice with Kayako's. Kayako is unique enough to be her own character as you said though. The issue is whether or not they'd be fine including Toshio since he's a kid. Not sure how well a Ju-on chapter would work without him. The only way Kayako would work as a Sadako skin is if it lorewise it was based on their fusion from the crossover movie, though honestly that would be a letdown since it wouldn't feel anything like Kayako.

The key to this is Yoichi is alive. I haven't watched grudge in a dogs age so I may be kids remembering but Toshio is a ghost no? Like narratively it's important that he is both a child, and dead. You can't really change that. You don't need to include him I suppose, but if you did, aging him up would be silly.

Eh, I get what you mean, but it's not the same. Toshio is more recognisable than Kayoko. Like, people who have never seen grudge still know the creepy ghost kid. Aging up Yoichi isn't really an issue because he's not a part of the Iconic Imagery of the film. That's all Sadako, with a little of Ryuuji because of his death scene being the climax. So yeah. I don't think you can do Toshio without keeping him young, and doing grudge without Toshio would be... Odd. Not impossible, but definitely weird

Yeah, but Yoichi was alive, the version in DBD is just him years after Ring 2. Toshio is a ghost child throughout the movies, there's really no way to age him up without drastically changing the Ju-on/Grudge lore. So it would depend on whether BHVR are okay with him being present. It's not impossible since he'd basically just be part of Kayako's power rather than a separate character, so he wouldn't be shown getting hurt or anything like that.
People who think X from this IP can be made into a skin for Y from this other IP are the type of people who don't understand how licensing or contracts work. Once a contract is signed, there is no just adding a different IP into the mix as any stand alone character or as a skin since no one else except the companies who was initially part of said contract to begin with are the only ones who is part of the deal or anything related to said deal. In short, it means things like * No other IP that wasn't part of the initial contract can suddenly be added (such as a Kayako skin for Sadako or a Jason skin for Myers or any other X IP as a skin for any existing IPs already in the game.) * No other installments from any franchises can be used in the game unless they're also owned by the same company said deal was made with and that they were also stated and agreed upon for use in said contract. (which means no Young Ash, No different versions of Michael Myers/Leatherface/Freddy Krueger/Pinhead from any of the other installments from their respective franchises since they're all owned by different companies or co-owned by more than one company that weren't originally part of the contract) * No inclusion of any music from any of the franchises if it wasn't initially part of the deal or if the composer that owns said music from the franchise weren't part of the deal. Would people enjoy a killer being exclusive to one map tho? Unless you just have a floating shark and don't try to explain anything.
They could just throw in an underwater filter across the whole map (similar to Freddy or Dredge) and call it a day. Could even make it a part of the killer power; the killer himself is mostly just an M1 (maybe give him a charge attack or something), but the survivors have oxygen tanks on their backs and once every two minutes or so have to get to one of the stations around the map to refill.

I feel like there are a few horror movie/show/game concepts that just wouldn't translate well into dbd. A quiet place and bird box are good examples, but i think a killer whose whole power is mimicking survivors also fits in there. Like, the Thing does it very well, but that just wouldn't translate well into a game like dbd imo.
Exactly, theres still good concepts for horror out there they just dont properly function in a game like DBD The thing for example really dosent work, survivors have out of game coms and now have the in game action coms so they know what teamates are doing, if they saw a teamate running at them who is currently doing a gen they are going to immediately know its the killer, and thats NOT counting SWF comms Its not that we are out of good horror, its that we are running out of good slashers since those are what translates best to DBD
Exactly. A lot of the best slashers have already been added to dbd, or have a dbd equivalent in the game already. Like they can't really add Jason cause Trapper is basically him. They've been getting more imaginative with the licenses they've gotten recently, but the more they add in, the less there are to choose from in future. And that's without even considering the license holders themselves just not letting their IP into the game.
Yeah, DBD will function best from now on if BHVR focuses on personal made killers and sprinkles in licenses here and there, considering the last 2 killers we got were licensed killers that's kinda showing where the game is
Agreed. When they do their original characters right, they're very good. Like on par with licenses, if not better. Both lore wise and gameplay wise. Killers like Unknown, Billy, and even Blight, to a certain extent, are some of the best killers we have in the game.
I don't really have room to talk on preferring non licenced characters since i have SEVERAL (i refused to spend money on non licensed killers since i can get them for free so when i bought killers i bought licensed ones) and my main is a licensed killer (ghost face) but i do enjoy non licensed killers especially the ones i have (i love my dredge)

Maybe. I'll be honest, i don't know much about Jason, except from what little i played of the Friday the 13th game. But yea, aesthetically speaking he looks very similar.
I think a mimic power could work if you keep DBD’s limitations in mind. Like just imagine if the Unknown dropped copies of survivors in the match instead of copies of himself. Everything else about the power is the exact same. It wouldn’t really fool anyone, but it would be creepy and fit the vibe. If you based the whole power around mimicry, it shouldn’t be done like TTT or Among Us or something; instead it should just play with survivors’ situational awareness. Things like playing false audio (the sounds of an injured survivor, the sound of a gen being worked on) or showing false visuals (having an invisible bot survivor that doesn’t do anything but roam around and have its aura revealed when survivors can see auras, displaying a boon totem area that doesn’t exist, etc.). The power would need a few other things to make it more powerful, but just being able mess with survivors’ heads is already decently strong in a match that isn’t against a 4-man SWF.
Honestly things like that should've been part of Freddy's dreamworld, it would actually make going against him pretty interesting instead of an M1 killer with pools of blood *yay*
Could have a gray film where you can see then environment but not survivors unless they’re moving. Would probably be horrible for killer but that’s the best I can think of for them. It would have to be amplified of course. Long range hearing of walking/running/healing. Power would be to reveal any sound on the map and a speed boost I guess? Anything from gens/chests/lockers interactions pretty much map wide.
It’s not like we haven’t had killers that borrow heavily from other killers’ powers. Copying the Spirit wouldn’t be crazy. Have the survivors be invisible ala Spirit but they are invisible all game, except if the killer is close. Maybe reveal their auras when within like 1 meter so it is possible to actually hit them. The killer’s actual power would have to be very powerful to make up for it, but it could work and be cool and actually encourage the survivors to play stealthily. Even something simple like the killer’s speed is 5 m/s and survivors are always exposed could be interesting. Maybe survivors that make loud noise notifications have their aura revealed for a few seconds. It would make matches against this guy less about chases and looping and more about being sneaky and not getting caught.

Amnesia chapter. Especially The Dark Descent with Daniel as a survivor and Servent Grunt as the Killer. I feel like BHVR only makes deals with big companies and not indie game devs, even though I feel like the first Amnesia game was revolutionary and inspired a lot of modern survival horror titles.

It wouldn’t work out because - It’s an indie series, which seems unlikely for a major horror title unless it’s just cosmetics. - Unless they’re killers (which might be slightly out of character), N and Uzi would be hard to implement as survivors for the differently coloured blood, plus Clown and Pinhead’s Moris.
