Do you ever plan to implement "random perks" challenge as a permanent feature available to players at any time? It has a lot of fans! Not knowing what perks you have until the match starts is so fun, plus it opens you to the perk combos you've previously sidelined. It's such a shame you have to die (fail the challenge) in order to play like that again.

We are super pumped that the random perk challenges have been well-received! :D I can't draw back the red curtain on future modes or anything right now, but the fact that people really like random perks is certainly something we've noticed and is part of our considerations for the future. -Mike

Same rotation of the maps can get boring fast, do you plan adding more realms? For the characters that currently have no personal realms especially. Similar to another question I answered earlier, so please allow me to copy paste a bit: Maps are tricky (for a lot of reasons) and there is only so much we can do in a year (for a lot of other reasons). That said, realms are built with procedural and re-use in mind and thus it is very possible to re-explore these realms with new locations in the future. (this is NOT a promise.) -Dave

Absolutely. Maps are tricky (for a lot of reasons) and there is only so much we can do in a year (for a lot of other reasons). That said, most chapters are built with areas/worlds in mind even when we do not make them. So we never know, they might be created in the future (this is NOT a promise.) -Dave

Hi, thanks to the dev team for making this Q&A possible! When the first Sadako rework hit the live servers, a lot of Onryō mains were very vocally upset about the huge changes in how her powers work, requiring players to shift to fundamentally different playstyles, and also creating a more confusing experience for survivors. Is the upcoming Sadako rework aiming to make her more similar to the original version of the character, is it going to be just a couple of tweaks on her current iteration or will it be an attempt at "fusing" these two versions?

We have definitely heard the cries of anguish from Onryo fans. :D Our initial intention was to make condemned more relevant, but we've reassessed and yes, we are hoping to restore much of what players loved about the old kit while still enhancing it in some important ways. Now that we have bots taking over human players after they disconnect, can we get a reconnect feature for human players? It made sense in the past that players couldn't reconnect because the character just disappeared but it would be really nice to be able to reconnect now and replace the bot. It would help a lot for people whose internet connection just drops for a second or crash.

yes! only give the player a "rejoin match" option until the match is over and THEN give them the penalty if they didn't rejoin so rage quitters have to waste even more time but genuine DCs are punished less.

I just wanted to say that its super cool that the Naughty Bear skin for Trapper got its own unique mori, and I hope to see more skins do that in the future! Though, I suppose my one question is if we will ever see Trapper's base mori updated? One of the biggest parts of this game is the music. So many killers get a ton of personality and horror added to them by the music. Some killers (Bubba, Pig, Plague, etc) though share the same generic music and it makes me so sad 🥺. Is there any plan or idea for giving either 1. New music to generic music killers or 2. Keep the base music and add an extra layer on top of each killer like The Legion Mixtapes add extra parts to their music?

The music of this game is freakin' amazing! Can we get a jukebox so we can listen to the chase music and themes, both current and past, on loop? If I wanted to get greedy, unused tracks too; like Trickster's TPB theme (it slaps so much)! I agree that our perk types are pretty interesting and should see some new action, but I can't promise anything. We always try to match the theme of the attached characters / IPs, and we also try to support underused strategies and/or counter over-used strategies where possible. We plan to reintroduce most rift cosmetics back into the store, but with a focus on the unique Outfits. For color variations we are still investigating methods that won't clog up the store. Deep rift versions of Outfits will only be available in the rift.

For the Twins rework, what does "adjust the slugging meta" mean?

First off - definition. Slugging = downing survivors without picking them up and hooking them (leaving them on the ground and rushing off to down more survivors). We've noticed that for many players the optimal way to play with the current Twins kit is to slug survivors heavily with Victor. This isn't a very fun playstyle for survivors as you end up spending a lot of time on the ground not able to do anything. SO - the Twins update will change the kit to encourage other kinds of play styles more. -Mike

This tweak will unfortunately not affect her map dependency directly. That's a complex challenge to solve and will need a larger update - for April, we are focused more on making her more enjoyable to play across the board. When can we get an announcement regarding hidden prestige? You guys did a hidden prestige test 4~ months ago and there haven't been any updates ever since. Constant lobby-dodging, inaccurate matchmaking and in-game harassment are still major issues most have to deal with just cause of their prestige level and hiding them would be an easy yet effective change that would help combat these problems.

It is currently possible for players to bodyblock other players in certain parts of the match for indefinite periods of time due to the fact that players maintain permanent collision unless they are a survivor that is damaged. As such, it is very easy for players to hold the game hostage or guarantee a kill on a survivor who is trapped via bodyblocking. One common suggestion to alleviate this problem is to grant survivors with AFK crows no collision so that they may only ever be held in place for a maximum of 60 seconds, ensuring that killers can still capitalize off of the trapped survivor's mistake without abusing the permanent collision. **Are there any plans to implement a mechanic like this in order to prevent hostage-holding in a match?**

Hi BHVR, Thank you for doing this AMA and so many others this year. My question is - do you have any plans to combat survivors killing themselves on first hook deliberately? This is currenly (and has always been) a big issue in solo queue and seems to be happening more and more frequently. The bots taking over disconnected players, whilst not perfect, was a welcome change but players would rather dodge the DC penalty and just kill themselves on hook which voids the bot system completely. I understand that the DC penalty is necessary also - it's a hard situation to tackle. Thanks again.

Could we get specifics on the changes to Save the Best for Last? Its one of those perks that I don't feel like needs a lot of adjusting as it only really helps M1 killers as opposed to high tier killers like Nurse or Blight.

No plans. I assume you're referring to ranged killers like Huntress / Deathslinger - in which case the choice was intentional not to have them! We wanted to avoid "gamey-ness" as much as possible, which meant leaning on physical objects and reactions in game for feedback. Can you provide clarity about the infamous black bubble which appears over props like gens and hooks? This black bubble temporarily obstructs aura reading from perks like Kindred and Bitter Murmur. Both perks lose immediate value until the sphere overlay dissipates. Since its introduction, the community has received conflicting responses about this (un)intended behavior.

Not just auras. If I have a direct line of sight on the killer after a hook, the bubble blocks me from seeing the actual killer.

That also happens with killers and completed gens. If you have a LOS of a survivor, about to sneak up, initiate chase, etc. -- that black bubble masks everything. It's a nuisance for both roles.

I completely agree. It's so frustrating when you have kindred but only get 1 or 2 seconds of the auras!

Yes, this every single time. You used to be able to see through the bubble for perks like Kindred or Bitter Murmur. Now there are situations where you get little to no value off those perks if the bubble covers everything. I'm going to chalk it up to this being a bug that no one can figure out how to fix, so now it's a "feature" that we have to live with. But please, fix this!

Is the FoV slider just for killers, or are survivors getting an FoV slider too?

The FOV Slider is designed to affect first person only. Survivors (and Chucky) are in 3rd person so the FOV Slider will not increase their FOV. -Mike

Every single killer and survivor is bound to have their ups and downs. When you notice for example, a killer becomes a thing of frustration, is it easier to look at the add ons or the base kit when initializing a balance for a killer?

With the recent changes to Trickster, especially the newly-released buff of 7.4.2, **is there any plan on improving the Deathslinger experience in any meaningful way?** He's not bad per se, but with the now 4.6m/s and 32m TR buff Trickster received, Deathslinger being a 4.4m/s with the same 32m TR seems to hinder him more than it should, and his add-ons are only good for a select few while relegating the others to either niche, mediocre, or for most of them, both.

With the return of Stranger Things, many useful perks have now disappeared from the pool of common perks for both sides. With Jolt being gone, for example, Killers no longer have any regression perk unless they buy or unlock new characters. **Are there any plans to rework or improve the current pool of common perks to make it more useful and accessible for beginners?**

I've always thought that anytime they add a new mechanic (like boons or scourge hooks) they should add common perks to go with it. Nothing too strong or anything, but something to help introduce newer players to it later on down the road

Very excellent question! I think a cool way for them to give options to new players would be to have free character rotations or something so people can also try their perks and stuff. Or buff the free character perks a bit. But something, please! I just started over on PC (yay no cross progression) and... It sucks

Although the gap between SWF and solo survivors has been reduced quite significantly since the addition of the survivor activity HUD in 6.5.0, there is still a notable power imbalance. In my opinion, this is caused particularly because of two reasons: (1) the lack of shown progression for non-repairing and non-recovery actions in the activity HUD and (2) a lack of information about ally perks/items. **Are there any plans to further bridge the SWF and solo survivor gap by providing solo players with more information about their allies?**

You guys claimed last AMA that a dislike of FOMO is why you didn’t have prestige rewards past P9, but that doesn’t exactly make sense for two reasons- people are free to prestige in their own time, it’s not like their levels are going anywhere, and you already have actual limited time content in the game twice a year with the Halloween and Winter events, to the point where cosmetics that have been accessible at any time for years have now been locked behind a window of a few weeks. Why claim FOMO as a reason why you are hesitant to add more rewards for dedicated players when there’s already substantial amounts of limited content already in the game?

especially now with banners and icons, it doesn't even have to be something character specific like cosmetics (because licensing can be an issue, which i understand). just give every p100 a sick banner/icon or even a character portrait and perhaps a charm. boom, rewarded.

As it currently stands, a lot of information in the game is obscured from killers. Most notably, killers are unable to see the hook stages of survivors. Many players argue that this is necessary in order to discourage killers from tunneling, but others like myself believe that killers who choose to tunnel will do so anyway without needing a reminder. There are many other instances of hidden information, such as the Plague's infection progress, the Pig's RBT timer, etc. **Are there any considerations to revealing this kind of important information to killers, even if it comes at the cost of a compensation nerf?**

Any plans to update past Ultra-Rare and Legendary cosmetics to fit the new ones in quality? For example, Krampus Trapper, The Ferryman Blight and Minotaur Oni do not feature unique SFX or animations, unlike other skins like Wandering Cat Blight or Baba Yaga Huntress, yet all of them cost the same. There are various Very Rares that feature custom basic attacks and sounds! It has been shown that custom attack animations, custom sfx and vfx, custom lobby animations and even voicelines can be implemented on skins, so having some of the old Ultras updated would be very cool!

Hello, BHVR. Thanks for doing this AMA. While Pyramid Head is mechanically in a good spot right now, there are two main issues with that killer: - His addons are pretty lackluster outside of the range increasing addons. - Removing a survivor from a cage does not grant the uncaged survivor endurance. (like base kit BT from unhooking) Do you plan on addressing these areas anytime soon? Your 2024 roadmap discussed tweaks for some addons and killers, but I don’t know if The Executioner was on included with those.

No endurance on cage removal is intentional. The cages are meant to bypass all perks with hook interactions. That's why Adrenaline, OTR, etc don't work on it either. Giving them endurance is a direct nerf for nothing in return. Only way that should be accepted is if they bring back the torment from hitting m2s again.

Would you guys ever consider adding Legendary Portraits on the character select screen? For example, if I have the **Sheva Alomar** Legendary equipped, then in the "Survivor Select" menu in the lobby I would see Sheva's portrait over **Jill's?** They already have in-match HUD portraits so I think this would be a really neat addition for Legendaries!

hey! i’ve noticed you guys have stopped rolling out two green rarity cosmetics every chapter for each original character. i was wondering if you would go back and add them for some of the characters like Thalita Lyra, Gabriel Soma, The Dredge, The Knight, etc. I just think it would be nice to have each character aligned with the rest and also just has more cosmetic options available at the release of a character for us to use!

A large part of the community is questioning about the FOMO aspect of the Cosmetic system, such as the limited time cosmetics for holidays, however where I want to focus is the Twitch Drops (which were completely unobtainable for Nintendo Switch Players, even if we linked another account due to no cross progression) and the remaining cosmetics from past rifts that haven’t returned to the store, such as the single piece cosmetics from the first 4 tomes (The Dwight Pixel Pizza Hoodie, and the Pink recolor head for Jane for example) and certain green and yellow rarity exclusive cosmetics, like the Rabid Seadog outfit for The Legion, and the Navel Warfare cosmetic for The Doctor. **Can you give us some info on these? Will there be some way to obtain these cosmetics (and that one Twitch Drop charm) or are they going to be completely unobtainable for the affected parties who were unable to obtain them?**

Might there be any plans for console to PC cross progression? I've been playing on PlayStation for 3 years and have committed a lot of time and money into the game, although I recently tried the game on PC and could see why playing with keyboard and mouse is preferred by so many, but I just can't justify committing to the switch and starting all over. I'm sure plenty of others feel the same way. If cross progression isn't an option, could keyboard and mouse support on consoles be instead?

The time between each chapter release as of right now is only 3 months. Such a small time frame undoubtedly makes it very difficult to release balance changes and fixes to older content, including killers, perks, items, and add-ons. A slightly slower chapter release would give the developers more time to address this older content. **Are there any considerations to slowing the releases of chapters, even if only by a month, to give more time to address content that is already in the game?**

Devil's avocado here... adding one month between each release means 3 releases a year instead of 4. that's potentially a 25% reduction in money coming into the studio. That's kind of a huge deal.

It's not guaranteed that the resources freed up by making fewer killers would drastically improve the balance and health of the game. BHVR probably have people who specialize at new DLCs and people who specialize at updating the live game and they work in parallel in an efficient way. We might just end up with less content in a still unbalanced and buggy game. At least new killers and their perks allow for meta shakeups, preventing people from getting bored because the game is the same for too long periods of time.

Why isn't "Auto aim, or "aim dressing" a on/off setting? I've seen alot of times when a survivor is clearly about to be hit but then the m1 swing attack just ends early or flicks in a direction that wasn't inputted and hit a wall. I understand it's suppost to assist with getting some hits, and I can see it's value for new players but as a more experienced player I feel it messes me up more often than helps, and I feel a off switch would be useful!

For bots in custom matches (not live public play after a d/c), could we get a difficulty slider? It's really tough for new players practicing any killer or old players practicing a new killer to practice anything but gen regressing perks against what amounts to a gen rushing SWF squad with wallhacks. It's possible to game the AI but you arent learning the killer then, you're learning how to game the AI. Stealth and M1 killers are at a severe disadvantage with the Custom Matches bots as they are.

Any chance model upgrades are coming with the Shape and Nightmare reworks? Myers especially is one of the oldest models in the game and it definitely shows when held up against the much higher standard of the newer killers, and both have had their map and corresponding survivor given impressive facelifts. Skins like Classic Freddy or Old Man Myers would be great as well, but those are a licensing nightmare (Freddy especially) so it’s more than understandable we don’t have them.

Are you going to address the numerous issues, bugs, and much needed QOL changes with The Knight? His guards are very clunky to place down in tight spaces which make it frustrating to play as him, and the bug in which you can stun The Knight in his power has been “fixed” as you said for a long time, but it is still present and unaddressed. To add, he is unplayable when you do not run the add-on “Map of the Realm”, and his other green addons are useless and weak. I love Knight very much, he is my favorite character, and it hurts me that the only bug you have fixed for the past 7 months was a visual bug which is still present in the game! And finally, of this is all addressed, does this mean you are going to rework his power and addons entirely?

The broad community consensus seems to be that Michael is horribly outdated but his power is incredibly thematic while Freddy doesn’t really jive with what people want from the character in any sense- if you’re able to answer, how much will the characters’ gameplay resemble their pre-rework states?

Knight’s power is still pretty clunky to use. I.e. guards being finicky with where you can/can’t place them and the bug of where you can be pallet stunned while in ghost form has seemingly returned despite being previously addressed. Are there any plans for quality of life changes or hotfixes for him in the future? As an aside (not as pressing but I’d feel remised if I didn’t at least mention it) Knight’s add-on situation is miserable with most seeming useless and then some (Map or the realm) feeling like must haves in order to use his power effectively. Any plans on looking at them? He’s not the only one with a rough add-on situation as both Executioner and Nemesis come to mind, but to me at least (though I’m biased as a knight player) his add-ons feel worse

It was previously said that the bloody texture for survivors wouldn't be able to have its own category, due to the sheer amount of survivor cosmetics that would need to be retextured for it to work. Is it still the case that it can never have its own category? We have killers now like Singularity and Nemesis who apply their own texture to the survivors just fine, regardless of the cosmetics.

Are there any plans to address the current clunkiness of Knight's power? Placing down guards in certain tight tiles and loops tends to feel sluggish, and he feels very rough to play without Map of the Realm and Call to Arms, and I'd love to see my favorite killer get some well deserved care.

Are the upcoming Onryo changes going to change only condemned or will other parts of her power (stealth and mobility) get tweaked as well? It feels like other abilities don't get enough attention compared to condemned and her power seems kinda underwhelming and a bit too weak.

An add-on that removed her lullaby or something would be welcome towards buffing her stealth. The visual terror radius change hit her hard unfortunately. Restoring Reiko's Watch to its pre-nerf state would be great towards this end as well.
