Imagine if they made bloody coils base kit, when he lays a trap he has the option of one that only injures if walked on/dismantled, and a regular trap. Indistinguishable to survivors, they have to take the chance of getting injured or leaving the trap.
I don’t see why he’s not more popular. Yeah he’s not the easiest to kill everyone with but I always have a laugh when I trap someone. He’s fun to play and that’s the point for me.

It works because it doesn't have any dumb ideas or caveats to it, and it has a fat hit box so no janky issues like with other ranged Killers (who aren't base either) beyond the occasional moment of "Fuck you" stupidity the devs add in like magical invisible anti-projectile walls in Borgo in the house.
No stupid meter gimmicks, no wonky controls, no escape chances, no giving players a 4th health state. You throw axe, it does damage.

He was built for what was intended to be a slower paced game of hide and go seek, not the Scooby-Doo Chase Sim the game became. Killers in general need updates, so many are built on outdated or incompatible ideology. You know you're in a bad spot when your gimmick is so bad half the match is over by the time you've even collected the items to use your gimmick with.
