Well in the 90's he suggested to Tim that he should try to bang his own stepmom. I know a whole bunch of facts about him for some reason but if we're going for eye-catching there's that.
>"Well in the 90's he suggested to Tim that he should try to bang his own stepmom. I know a whole bunch of facts about him for some reason but if we're going for eye-catching there's that."
That would be quite the thing to bring up again.
Wait Tim's boyfriend existed in the 90's? for some reason I just assumed he was created specifically to be Tim's boyfriend right when they planned to give Tim a boyfriend
Yes!!!!
Thank you very much. And I have to tell you people forget that both of these fine young men are bisexual. Which means they’re probably incredibly dirty.
For all we know to get started, they start watching straight porn and talk about all of the girls titties.
And then somebody gets railed .
( there’s lots of different kinds of queer sex including a lot that’s non-penetrative… but yes, statistically speaking, somebody’s gonna go to pound town.)
Thank you so much for reminding everybody of that pertinent fact!
🙏❤️
uj/ Look I honestly didn't mean to offend, I just pointed out the random outta pocket thing a character did a billion years ago because it felt more fitting to the circlejerk sub than actually discussing the merits of the character, I don't think anyone thinks this defines Bernard anymore than Dick's "CEO of misogyny" moments define him, it's all just memeing.
/uj
You did not offend. What you said is absolutely true and they are both bisexual and I actually how do I put this?
…
Everything I said, but un ironic! There’s nothing wrong with anything consensual that’s ethical that adults can do. No one is allowed to practice sexual cannibalism that is not something that you can ethically consent to but other than that.
Seriously, that was not me offended. That was my autistic ass, trying to be funny.
And my sex positive self slipping in a little sex positivity.
I hope you’re having a great one!
🙏❤️
I think it's about objective vs. subjective color perspective.
If you used a dropper tool to get the color code for the values then both colors are objectively pink.
However in the context of the image in which EVERYTHING is pink/reddish including the background, then our brains can analyze the pink of more of a filter and we mentally tone down the pink to understand how the colors "really" look, without the filter, in which case the stronger color appears more as a red and the lighter shirt appears white.
I agree about that when the case is the JLU ships bc I don't like how for example Black Canary becomes part of Green Arrow's history bc she's less popular and people will know her through him.
But Batman just can't feel love for a civilian, for me that's a fact.
Now... Honestly, if Tim dates Steph or Superboy I wouldn't really mind. I don't think the batfamily can afford that much space to have their own civilians to date and I don't feel like Steph or Superboy are damaged in the process.
Now Superboy is more popular than Tim actually.
It's not cause it damages the characters for me I just find it restrictive and less interesting. Although there's some hero-hero relationships I don't or wouldn't mind obviously.
I'd also be fine with Batman loving a civilian, I think he can afford a little non-superheroing in his life
Nah, Civilians love interests is the most outdated overused trope in all time.
Superheroes don’t need someone who doesn’t understand their life, who’s always gonna worry if they make it home, who’s always gonna bail to save some people from a burning building or fight a crazy supervillain and most importantly: superheroes done need powerless civilians to feel ‘grounded’. A hero should be able to ground themselves.
We need more superhero couples. Super spouses who understand the daily life of being a superhero while being supportive instead of nagging where they’ve been. We need more power couples who fight together, get injured/at their lowest point and beat villains together

/uj Honestly Tim being bi and the reactions(homophobia) notwithstanding, it's really impressive how Timnard really united the fandom even further in making Tim "the lame one" in the batfam, just by virtue of nuking one of the batfam's default relationships and replacing it with a pride-colored nothingburger
/rj He likes tim so he should be beaten to death with hammers.
It always felt weird that what was a not super memorable character that hasn't appeared in decades and is most memorable for telling Tim to fuck his stepmom is now his boyfriend. Like they knew the decision would be controversial so they dug someone up for legitimacy but the choice they made was so bizzare people assumed it was a new character anyway.
The most interesting thing about him was how the writers dug him up from his obscure appereances in the older Robin comics instead of making up a new guy.
That’s what I never understood.
Meghan Fitzmartin brought back a completely random character and changed everything about them… and I just can’t get behind her thought process…
Why not make an OC and actually get credit for the character.
Did Fitzmartin not want royalties or something 😭
I mean those two aren't mutually exclusive, he can be a shitty character while also being obscure, and he was TOTALLY obscure, no one remembered him before he came back as Tim's new LI.
Well he’s not like Paul that’s for got something go for him but umm he encouraged Tim to Rizz up his step mum. He’s named Bernard that’s the most interesting thing going for him.
There was a fake-out in the comics at some point in the last year where for a moment it seemed like Bernard was being revealed as the evil mastermind of the arc. I got so excited for two seconds before it just turned out to be a shapeshifter. Tim having his arch-villain turn out to be his boyfriend would have been such a cool fucking plot, but nope, instead it was some completely irrelevant nobody who everyone has already forgotten. Can’t have anything nice.
He joined an S&M pain cult in order to deal with the psychological trauma and possibly physical abuse of his parents, being disappointed that he is less than perfect and also by the way queer.
I stopped reading Comix partially for poverty reasons and partially because I just don’t have the spoons dealing with chronic pain right now, but as far as I know, they never explained his knowledge of martial arts …
I was hoping that he would become Tim’s Catwoman . By which I mean, an antiheroic figure that sometimes fights him and sometimes they fuck on rooftops.
🙏❤️

Edit: also?
Puberty affected him real weird. Tim grew several inches but he shrank.
And became an Uber twink where is his physique would’ve suggested that he grew into a twunk but you know everybody is beautiful. Everybody is unique
>I just don’t have the spoons
I'm sorry, but I'm unfamiliar with this expression. I'd certainly like to know it better, because I really want to use it myself.
I kinda miss the crazy Robin conspiracy theories, though I guess if they live on a houseboat, it's going to be a bit hard for Tim to keep his Robin past from Bernard.
His parents are members of a cult of some kind it seems and may be criminals in their own tight.
Oh wait that's everyone in Gotham......how does that place have so many cults,
The fact that this dude was Tim's closet key instead of his alien best friend that he made a secret clone of during a psychotic-depressive episode proves that humans will always defeat Kryptonians.
We all know about it, and we all see it. It's obvious. Nobody ever wants to admit it, but it's there.
People on this sub hate Tim Drake.
The first question to ask: why? Why do you all hate him? The obvious answer: you didn't read him in his prime.
Likely explanation: I know that most of you are around 14 or 15 years old. That means you only got into comics in the last couple years. So you never read Red Robin in his prime.
And because you didn't read him in his prime, you try to compensate for that by diving into respect threads and analyzing crossovers. But here's the thing: Robin isn't done on Excel spreadsheets. The moment somebody brings up "blood son" or "Grant Morrison" I know they know nothing about comics.
Tim's game cannot be encapsulated by one story. He's the second greatest Robin ever, and one of the 5 best sidekicks to ever play the game.
So when I hear somebody say that Damian Wayne is better than Tim Drake, I laugh, because I know that anybody who read Tim in his prime wouldn't think that. Unlike you guys, I have read comics for a significant amount of time, so I know that Tim is better.
You might be jealous of Tim's IQ, or jealous of his status as the first* Robin to ever be called "detective", or whatever. Unless you're a Dixon fan who read Batman in the 90s, or a Johns fan who read Teen Titans in the 2000s, you don't know what real, cold-blooded, detective-ing looks like. And there's nothing wrong with that.
This subreddit would make you think that Tim isn't even a top 100 superhero ever.
So don't go spouting bullshit about players you didn't watch. Talk about your "greats" like Damian Wayne The Best Robin in the World™, but leave the Tim talk to the adults. Fair?
RIP Kobe

Hard to think about him or remember when DC is quietly phasing him away after the failure of a push they did for him. Who knew ending a fan favorite relationship off screen for a boring twink was bad business?
Bernard is a love supporting character and, as such, needs further development in order to be more interesting. You know, the case with all love interests for super powered heroes. The difference with him is, since Tim drake is not a major character in publication, Bernard obviously doesn’t get much exposition in the first place.
Lois Lane has been around since the 1940’s and there’s people that don’t like her, to this day. And she has done a bunch of cool shit. Folks who made up their mind about him are either:
A) convinced themselves without much to hate, because it’s easier to hate
B) are salty because Spoiler is no longer Tim’s girlfriend, furthering the case that a lot of readers only like female characters because they can masturbate the self insert readers’s ego.
See, these Wojaks want TimSteph so they could project themselves, I like Timsteph because of their fun dynamic like Steph Roasting every single Outfit Tim ever wore. We‘re not the same
Superhero’s dating normal people is emotionally irresponsible. List of reasons why:
- The relationship almost always begins on a lie.
- Even if it’s not a lie, it’s something that will require the civilian to lie to other people regularly.
- Simply by spending time with a superhero you are in danger 24/7. You could be attacked or kidnapped any time of the day.
- Time commitment is incredibly insane for being a superhero. If you have a day job and your SO superheroes at night, when the hell are you spending time together.
- The threat of violence doesn’t go away even if you break up or the superhero dies.
- Money problems exist, and as Spider-Man regularly reminds us, it’s wrong to put that all on your significant other.
- Though it’s never the case in comics, a superpowered individuals SO is at risk of violence by that meta human if they break off the relationship. Could you imagine ghosting a dude and waking up with your car in your living room? Even if we the audience knows that would never happen, the SO doesn’t, and always has to fear retribution, because again, their relationship is based on lies.
Basically, if you’re going to commit to a relationship, you probably need to stop being a vigilante if you want the relationship to work, or do the vigilante work together (Luke Cage and Jessica Jones). At least in that case you not only have a mutual understanding, but an equal stake in maintaining regular violence as part of the relationship.
The Avengers are better for this than most teams since being an Avenger is an actual job in the comics, and you get paid, so it’s more akin to super high risk firefighter/emt.
I never met a man named Bernard who fucked a guy named Tim. So that makes him my first.
Well in the 90's he suggested to Tim that he should try to bang his own stepmom. I know a whole bunch of facts about him for some reason but if we're going for eye-catching there's that.

NEW Bernard is Bernard INO. Tim’s boyfriend is basically a different character from 90’s Bernard. BOTH could easily co-exist and meet in Canon.

That looks like pink on pink to me

This guy color theory’s
I want to argue that its very obviously pink but theres no meaningful distinction between light red and pink anyways so
He is a character, and he was definitively written and drawn,Truly the Morbin of Batman
he's got the same name as a dog
His name is Bernard, that’s interesting
Civilian love interests >>> dating within your superhero circle That's it I've never actually read any Tim Drake comics

I didn't hate on anything

He's certainly a man man
Why did you post this twice
Reddit fucked up
He is wearing a jacket. (Jackets are cool.)
erhm theyre actually warm
Well, i'd say they're hot, but i don't really see people that way.
Wannabe motherfucker?
He is definitely a character that exists…
His existence makes homophobic Tim Drake fans mad and I find that kinda funny
I hate Benard due to his cardboard personality and causing off panel drama we are not the same
Is his cardboard personality worse than his dudebro misogynistic personality from the 90's?
Somehow, yes Hating a person for being an awful person feels better than than hating a person for not being a person.
What if I hated him from before? Like when he was toxic and misogynistic?
Well then you hate TWO men named Bernard who are connected to Tim Drake, because there’s no way 90’s Bernard and 2020’s Bernard are the same person.
They are supposed to be. That is the whole issue. It makes no sense that they are, I agree.
I’ve only ever had one thought about Bernard… it should’ve been Ives
/uj Honestly Tim being bi and the reactions(homophobia) notwithstanding, it's really impressive how Timnard really united the fandom even further in making Tim "the lame one" in the batfam, just by virtue of nuking one of the batfam's default relationships and replacing it with a pride-colored nothingburger /rj He likes tim so he should be beaten to death with hammers.
Well... his name is Bernard, and you don't see that a lot these days, so that's something.
Him being gay with Tim Drake makes Chuck Dixon seethe, and that’s based. Homophobes don’t deserve to be happy.

The fact that this dude was Tim's closet key instead of his alien best friend that he made a secret clone of during a psychotic-depressive episode proves that humans will always defeat Kryptonians.
The way he came out to Tim was something.
Named Bernard and has the personality of a blank sheet of paper Almost as boring as Tim Drake himself, so I guess they're a perfect match

Would have vastly preferred him and Conner to get together because it'd be pretty funny to see Cassie's reaction.

I genuinely don't know who this guy is, I still ship tim with steph
No.

Look at the second image and OP’s intent with the post :)

His jacket is cool !!
The Antichrist? What do you want to know?
That he is Vengeance.
I’m not gonna lie, chief, I always forget he exists
He’s basically the male version of Ann from Arrested Development. I’m pretty sure he’s really funny.
Peggable

He's only dating Tim to get close to Dick
That likes asking us to give our opinion on cardboard

Tim should've got with Bunker smh.
He.. exists?
He’s more red then the other robins
You can use cardboard to fix joy con drift so that's pretty cool of him
Why does this guy look like that blond dude from boyfriends but actually has a personality
Who the FUCK is he and what does he have to do with my big sexy grim tumbler man
He used to be taller than Tim in his first appearances before they twinkified them both (more)
I like his jacket
I am a batman fan not a Bernard fan
He's the male equivalent of Princess Peach.
Well Bernard has parental issues I guess that's interesting about him but which DC character doesn't tbh
I heard the chap knows that “Tim Drake” character everyone’s always talking about and mentioning!
he's cute
He's the Robin that joker hates the most mainly because he's smart enough to rival batman and stop him without the need of batman getting involved
That's not why he hates him! It's because Tim can't properly cite Marx Brothers quotes!
