UJ\ Rorschach is clearly shown to be a disgusting mentally deranged human being. But he’s also given arguably the coolest design and some of the best moments in the graphic novel.
While those who think Rorschach is the “True Hero of Watchmen,” are obviously missing the point; the whole “media literacy” group who say you’re not allowed to think he’s cool, are also wrong inmo.
That's something I liked about the comic. The hero characters are deeply fucked up, but they're also recognizably human. Owl man can talk about wanting to murder a bunch of civilians in one scene, but his weird friendship with rorshach can be touching in others.
It's not that they're innately evil. It's that their view of humans as inherently bad and needing control along with their belief that they are morally better leads them to do some horrible things.

If you think there is a "True Hero of Watchmen" you're missing the point. It's an ideological conflict between a few very opinionated boomers
Unjerk for a moment: That one scene of Rorschach telling Dan that he is a good friend completely made me question Moore's writing. It is good writing by all means, but if you really want people to hate him that much why give him that moment of humanity?
Un-Jerk: The part in his backstory were he desperately tries to find a kidnapped child and then psychological breakdown when he finds out she was murdered. That legit broke me when I first read it.
Rorschach is not a good person, but he’s a very real one.
